I just had the worst anniversary ever... I've had bad birthdays before, but not an anniversary. I knew it was a weekday, so wasn't expecting to go out to dinner today, and DD had Honors Night at school tonight. She was balking about going because she got one lone "B", so she lost her 4.0. She's also out of Jazz Band, but that's not why. If you read my WS blog, you'll get the backstory about that. Well she told me she decided to go after all. (I had earlier this afternoon, told her that she still deserved to go because she made the Principal's Honor Roll and that she shouldn't be ashamed, other kids parents were prouder for lesser achievements.) Her GPA was still 3.8, which is pretty darned good. DH "forgot" about Honors night and had to meet us there-turns out that he did get me a dozen roses, a piece of chocolate cake, and a card. It was sad when we got there because Jazz Band was playing without her, and the principal was hyping the kids who kept their 4.0's all the way through middle school, and she had until now, and she will miss out on the special award at graduation because of that. When we got home, DH was a total jerk towards me for it, so I got mad at him, threw the roses in the sink, threw his card unopened into the trash, and didn't touch the cake. I haven't spoken to him all night. I helped DD until 1a.m. finish her school project which is due tomorrow (but that was not her fault) and she was cranky towards me instead of being grateful for the help. I had hoped to go someplace nice for dinner on Sat, but still don't have anyplace in mind, and now that is in jeopardy. Couldn't afford to see the play we wanted (too expensive) and are short on money now. Thank you guys for being my cyber-friends, I'm too embarrassed to post this on Facebook.
Oh,and my laptop's been annoyingly slow loading today.

Big Hugs (((LinasK)))
I've had a few of those myself! I hope things are better tonight!

Hi everyone  , haven't really been on in a couple days, this week has been kind of hard. First my six year old refrigerator went kaput and after several days waiting I learn that the repairmen can't fix it. Why? They stopped making the parts for it already, and it's only six years old?! :what: Oh, we could have had a "board" rebuilt on it that would take two weeks and cost several hundred dollars, just so they could then finish diagnosing the reason it quit, and then they can't guarantee it would be cost effective to repair it. I'm again like, :what: !!! So we just had to order a new frig. as the space we have isn't typical, and it's going to take a couple of weeks to get it. But I wasn't about to spend all that money on a frig. I didn't want. I am just thankful that we have an extra "drink" fridge we can get by on, aka my DH's beer fridge, :giggle:

Then my fur boy baby has had diarrhea for several days, so I haven't had much sleep having to let him out 3 and 4 times a night. I also have to go with him and follow him around in the yard in order to: 1) monitor the quality of his poop, and 2) to make sure he doesn't get into anything else to keep him sick. I just hate going out there in the middle of the night, it's scary to me because it's rather dark and spooky what with the big herons and their loud squawking, and watching for snakes and such. :scared: :sheesh: I'm such a coward.

Then there was a thunderstorm the other night which kept my baby awake... so me too. Anyway, have been feeding him chicken and rice cooked in broth, and finally last night gave him Pepto Bismol . If he isn't better today it's off to the vet. He doesn't feel bad, has a great appetite, etc. . Funny though, he keeps turning around and looking at his booty like he's trying to show me it's messed up, Poor baby :( I'm quite sure the cause is something he ate in our back yard, he came in smelling like fish and I found part of a dead fish out there the other day. The darn birds drop stuff like that in our yard from time to time and it's more prevalent in the Spring, especially with all the rain we've had. I have also found and subsequently removed some quite large animal droppings in our back yard, really gross .... and am not sure what it's from, raccoon or fox maybe? You know dogs, they are known to eat some really disgusting things at times.

Anyway, he finally slept through the night last night so I actually got some decent sleep, thank you Lord, so hoping it is uphill from here.
ETA: I'm way behind on the thread, good to see all the activity, so I've a bit of catching up to do. How terrible about Ann Rule's sons and what they've done to her, that poor dear. :(

Jazzed, that is so precious I'm now in tears. :tears:

Sorry about your fridge neesaki! At least you're getting a new one.. in the meantime I know it sucks!!!
I'm wondering if maybe fur baby might have worms? When you said he kept turning and looking at his bum I thought maybe he was feeling something wiggly and itchy back there? I hope he feels better soon.
I'm glad you liked the video.. = ) It made me cry too

Neesaki, dh bought my last refrigerator and got a Samsung french door with the adjustable selves that can be raised, a large meat keeper (that I use for cheeses and things, the most are packets from fast food.), two large drawers with adjustable humidity levels and icemaker, in the freezer you have all that space on the bottom and a large drawer along with a second ice maker. He got it at a bargain at Lowes during the tax something a few years ago. He was window shopping and seen this one fridge and that the price had been reduced, and learned that it had been bought and installed in a new home and they changed their minds , returned it and chose another one, hence the price. So I got a three thousand dollar fridge for half it's price. I love it. It keeps lettuce, peppers, cucumbers, celery in the high humidity one on high and they stay "fresh" for several weeks. The two ice makers are nice for crushed on the top, and cubes on the bottom. The downside to this is several problems that Sumsung has. It stopped one day, and dh checked it out, and stayed on line with customer service (a long long time) that was useless. It has a thick sheet of ice buildup in the bottom of the freezer several times s far. Other than that I love it. Yep beer fridges in the south, out in the garage where beer is handy to him. I store my flour, rice and pasta out there also.

If I mention that I like something, not that I wanted, I get it. I mentioned that having a Chambers stove would be cool, and I got one. It's the same age as me, 1951. He asked what I wanted for Christmas 2013 and I said a Nissan Rouge. He thought I said pergola ( it's a gazbo, arbor, etc. I already have one from walmart with mosquito netting), and it is very nice metal and looks wonderful covered in Morning Glorys. Anyway he got hearing aids for Valentines.

Could your baby be constipated? and have a blockage that's letting liquid stool out but not poop?

Sorry about your fridge neesaki! At least you're getting a new one.. in the meantime I know it sucks!!!

Hi BendPages, we are so disappointed that our Kitchenaide gave out so soon. Appliances used to last so, so much longer, didn't they? Oh well... Anyway, the one we ordered is a a french door model like you described and I think we'll really like it. The frig part won't be so narrow like our side by side was, and though I'm not used to the freezer being down below, I think it will work out well for us. I'm getting a little excited about it now. :)

And I was afraid my baby could have a blockage as well. But he hadn't been throwing up, and still had a good appetite. I did go ahead and take him to the vet this afternoon though, because around here the vets are all closed on the weekend and I just wanted to make sure. Anyway, the vet said his abdomen felt soft and no vomiting, and no fever, so didn't believe it was a blockage. Probably something he ate, as in , something he should not have eaten. Yet, guess what, as soon as I got him home, he threw up. The first time all week. We think it may have been that his stomach has been upset and digestion not working well yet, on top of riding in the car. He has gotten car sick only once before, but....

And good point, I'mjazzed. That's the other thing the vet did was check for parasites and didn't find anything right off, but did give us something to kill any just in case he may have gotten some from whatever bad nasty stuff he ingested. He is already on monthly medication for heart worms, which is also supposed to kill other worms, but the vet said it doesn't necessarily kill or prevent everything. Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed. He was hungry later this evening and I fed him only a very small amount of rice with a little chicken. So I'm going to be watching him closely. I'm afraid to even go to sleep. :/
Thanks so much you guys. You don't know how I appreciate you're support. This is such a great group of wonderful people, all of you here help me to stay centered. :loveyou:

Oh, another thing, someone here had mentioned reading Death Sentence, about Velma Barfield. Was it you, BendPages? Anyway, I just finished that book. Gosh, what a terribly sad and tragic case. And her poor , poor family. It almost destroyed them all. I have to say, that in spite of all the murders she committed, I don't know how I feel about the death sentence in her case. But then I've been pretty much anti-death penalty for years. It's just hard for me to separate the death penalty from pre-meditated murder. Now, when it comes to international terrorists, or cases like that, where there is nothing but evil and no remorse, I do see that differently. But in other cases, like this, what is wrong with LWOP ? Why isn't that enough? I just have a hard time with anyone being given the right to kill someone other than in self-defense. Including, and especially, the government. And in the Barfield case, as in others, there is often political influences, which should never be when it comes to life or death. Idk, it's a real dilemma with no perfect answers, it seems.

Anyway, I'm still way behind on the thread, hopefully will be able to catch up sooner or later. Night all. :bedtime:

Mama’s Soap Box: Buh-Bye, Buh-Bye, Hello!

Hi everyone! This is MAMAVIA! I’m filling in for Kelly tonight! I hope you enjoy!

"...As parents, our job is to mold our children into responsible adults. You don’t need an instructional manual to do that, and it isn’t all that difficult! You teach by example, you teach using “learning moments”, you hop up onto the Mom Soap Box and give a lecture. As a parent, you give them unconditional love and loving discipline. You take responsibility for the child you brought into the world, not celebrate when they finally quit high school and run off to go live in a tent with some boy…thankful that the “problem child” is no longer YOUR problem!
Disciplining a child begins the moment that they understand “don’t touch that “pretty” on the table”! Later, they touch it just to test to see if you really mean what you said! You can’t “let them get away with murder” for 15 years, then decide you are going to teach them not to lie or grow pot on the roof! (You are 14 years too late!)..."

A little reminder of what's important in life ( 90 year old Regina Brett)

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

When in doubt, just take the next small step.

Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

Pay off your credit cards every month.

You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

Save for retirement, starting with your first paycheck.

When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

It's OK to let your children see you cry.

Don't compare your life to others'. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.

You can get through anything if you stay put in today.

A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.

It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

Burn the candles; use the nice sheets; wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

Over prepare, then go with the flow.

Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

The most important sex organ is the brain.

No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

Forgive everyone everything.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Believe in miracles.

Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

Your children get only one childhood. Make it memorable.

Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

The best is yet to come.

No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, and show up.

Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

If you don't ask, you don't get.

Yield.

Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Great to see you here this morning. Y/N!!

I am so over the convicted one that I am not even reading any new stuff being put out there. A ut it warms my heart to think she may become very unhappy with her new arrangements

Drizzly here this morning, but we have seen those flakes a few days this week. The whole shebang is on a rollercoaster, up and down, cold and slightly warm, and I now have frozen tulip stems --- they never had a chance to bloom.

Good Morning.
Yay, it's the weekend. I am on my on own watch today. Don't know if I want to venture out or just stay in. The weather is chilly, but it does look beautiful. Spring is struggling to make its entrance.
I was at work on Thursday and I got a text from a friend who lives about 15 minutes from where I work. She is just a neighborhood away from my home. She texted that she could not believe that freezing rain and snow was coming down. I looked at the weather app and it was 48 degrees. When I left for the day and was heading home, the closer I got, the weird weather showed up and I drove into sheets of freezing rain. Strange weather, all over the world. I wonder what the prediction for the summer forecast is, not that it would be an accurate account.

The above picture is one I took this morning of our pair of robins building their nest in the new, improved, nest container we put up for them.

For the last few weeks the pair has been trying build a nest right where the basket is, and the rain/winds, would blow it off. No matter how many times the nest was blown off, they kept on trying rebuild it. Being the softie that I am, DH I and tied this basket to the railing and waited, seeing if they would rebuild in the basket we put out for them. As you can see...they did and are building a nice nest for their babies :) Will keep you posted IF they lay eggs and the hatch.

Babies! I'm glad you're a softie. :)

Speaking of birds, I got so excited the first time I spotted a painted bunting in my birdbath. I let out a screech and my husband just about levitated out of his Barcolounger...lol. What an amazing-looking bird (not my photo...off the interwebs)...they look cobbled together out of a bunch of brightly-colored birds...cardinal, bluebird, hummingbird...so cool:
