I have posted several articles of today's service for Beau Biden in Dover. My comments are there as well. I just played the video from the one in the Washington Post and I am heartbroken all over again. Seeing my beautiful friend Jill in such agony has brought me to tears. Hallie looks shell shocked. Hunter looks destroyed like Joe does. Ashley is so griefstricken. The tears just won't stop.

No words. Just feelings of sympathy and compassion.

The Battle of Midway started on June 1942, and is considered one of the most decisive battles of World War Two. The Battle of Midway effectively destroyed Japan’s naval strength when the Americans destroyed four of its aircraft carriers. Japan’s navy never recovered from its defeat at Midway and it was on the defensive after this battle.

I haven't read that book, but I looked it up on Amazon. In addition (or as an alternative), I would recommend Glimpsing Heaven by Judy Bachrach.

She's an excellent writer--spare and eloquent--and brings a non-judgmental and unbiased view of near-death experiences. She interviewed a number of people who've had the experience, as well as many doctors and scientists. Plus, she's a great storyteller; it's a fascinating read.

I found it comforting that most people who have gone through the experience report feeling utter joy and a sense of being totally at peace. Many were reluctant--even angry--about being brought back to this realm. But also, significantly, many of them went on to live their mortal lives no longer having a fear of death.

Another thing that I like about this book is that she reports near-death experiences from the POV of a wide variety of people, including both theist and atheist individuals. Just adding that because some people (perhaps your brother?) may get turned off by overtly "Christian" stuff.

Back in the 70's Dr. Elizabeth Kurbler - Ross was considered ground break in her book on Death and Dying. It helped to understand the terminally ill, and hospices, and the five stages of dying.

It has both experience, from Christian to atheists, and in between.

Snapping_turtle_Chelydra_serpentina.jpg

When one thinks of a turtle, it is always as a wise and ancient being which is peaceful and lives in its own shell, literally and figuratively. Along comes the snapping turtle to prove that there is an exception to every rule.

Some quick facts about snapping turtles are:

•The scientific name of snapping turtle is Chelydra Serpentina.

•An average snapping turtle can be between 8 and 18 inches long and 20 kgs in weight.

•Snapping turtles are dark coloured, have webbed feet, long tails and powerful hooked jaws.

•Snapping turtles are shy in water and aggressive on land.

•They hunt and feed underwater during the day and are mostly surface in the night. They are not fussy about their food and can eat anything from seaweed, fish eggs and tadpoles, insects and leeches, worms and snails, baby ducks and baby mammals and even dead animals.

•Underwater, snapping turtles bury themselves in the sand with only eyes and nose exposed and surprises their prey this way. The end of their tongue has a worm like shape and can be used to attract fish to them.

•To protect themselves of their babies they can release a foul smell from under its body.

•In the food chain, turtles helps by controlling the fish population but are eaten by bigger predators including human beings who eat turtle soups and stews.

•Though snapping turtles have a shell, the part covering their stomach i.e. plastron is small and so they cannot hide in there shell as a defence mechanism.

•Snapping turtles are mostly found in Canada and America. They are supposed to be Virginia’s largest turtle.

•They like living in muddy areas with aquatic plants so they can hide easily and they lay their eggs in sandy soil.

•A snapping turtle lays 30 to 40 eggs at a time of which very few survive as they are hunted by bigger prey. Those who survive can live up to 30 to 40 years which is much more than a normal turtle.

•They are solitary animals and do not interact with other beings. Sometimes male turtle fight over food, area or for mating with female turtles.

•Snapping turtles communicate to each other through leg movement.

•They can sense vibrations in water and usually use their sense of sight, smell and touch for hunting and other purposes.

•Snapping turtles eliminate competition in other turtles by biting their heads off.

•Snapping turtle shell was used in many ceremonies by Native Americans. They were dried and corn kernels were placed inside them so that they rattled.

•Originally, it was assumed, that there is only one species of snapping turtle, however another species called Alligator snapping turtle has also been discovered.

Although they are not considered an endangered species, any sort of threat to their natural habitats poses a danger to them as well. Once they reach their full size not many animals can threaten a snapping turtle on land as they are vicious and fight violently. This is only to protect them as they don’t have all self defence mechanisms that a normal turtle has with their shell.

Brothers wrongfully convicted in 1983 murder pardoned

"RALEIGH, N.C. -- Two brothers, one of whom spent three decades on death row, were pardoned Thursday in the 1983 rape and killing of a girl, clearing the way for them to receive up to $750,000 in compensation from the state.

Gov. Pat McCrory's pardons for Henry McCollum and his half brother Leon Brown happened after a judge vacated their convictions and they were released from prison in September, citing new DNA evidence that points to another man killing and raping 11-year-old Sabrina Buie...."

Man Considered "Too Drunk" Is Acquitted of Hit & Run Charge

"...An Ottawa judge has ruled that volunteer firefighter Trevor Clarke is not guilty of the hit and run charges levied against him. Clarke was pulled over for driving while under the influence, and his blood alcohol level was a rather impressive four times the legal limit. Before he was stopped for the DUI, Clarke also struck a cyclist with his truck, who then suffered a brain injury. :(
Clarke wasn't convicted of the hit and run because the judge felt he was too drunk...."

I love donuts. There should be an added food group on that food pyramid to include donuts. I love Dunkin Donuts and get iced coffee from there 7/365. If I had an excellent metabolism, I would probably eat a dozen Bavarian Creme donuts at a time. But then, I would OD on the donuts and not like them anymore. But since today is Donut Day or DD and I like DD, I think a Bavarian Creme donut is apropos.

Anyone else care to join me?

I'm going out food shopping today and we're stopping at Dunkin Donuts for our free donuts (that's our lunch ).
True Decadence. :)
I hope they have French Crullers- my favorite.

The picture that says Bavarian is actually a Boston Creme donut here lol. Bavarian Creme have the white fattening powdered sugar with the vanilla pudding filler. I will take both thank you very much! Zuri knows donuts :)

Hope you all have a great day. I am hearing myself up to go to Beau Biden's viewing and pay my respects. I hope I can hold it together. Better living through Xanax I guess.

Thank you for the recommendation of this book! I'll see if my library has it! I've posted this site before, and if anyone is interested in reading some of Near-Death experiences. These are exceptional ones:

Actually, I don't believe its "Christian" stuff, more spiritual... :loveyou: And yes, most all do not want to come back here... just pure love! :luv: I don't fear death...
