Can I ask you - what does the constitution have to do with his obviously lying to save his clients backside? Where does it say in the constitution that a lawyer "must lie until the cows come home" to keep their client from paying for their crime? I don't quite read the constitution that way...but I know Cheney Mason does. He reminded us of that regularly didn't he?

If I was a lowlife, and extremely likely babykiller; that was guilty as heck, maybe I would want JB for an attorney. But I think it's a sad state of affairs when a murderer gets a "get out of jail free" card just because her smarmy attorney can spin a yarn that fools a jury of bored, disinterested dimwits. JMHO.

How else are they supposed to do their job? There sole job is create a story mudding up the evidence & manufacturing reasonable doubt to get their client off. Ya can't do that by telling the truth. Defense lawyers don't ask their clients, did you do it? They don't want to know!!! If they knew for a fact their client was guilty, their hands would be tied to give their client a defense.

IMO that's why oj didn't stick to his original lawyer. He confessed to him.

My first time posting, so I hope I'm doing it right. I just can't stay silent any longer. Why are people making a big deal about George's recollection? Wasn't CA using the date 6/9 for the longest time? Not only that, but he wasn't asked about that day until over a month later. He didn't know at the time that 6/16 would later by a very significant day. So, to me, he either had his days mixed up, or if he was intentially lying, it was to cover for her like CA has been doing since day 1.
And as far as baez goes, I have never seen such lying and spinning of stories in all my life. He turned that court room into a circus. But you are all correct about the jurors .. he sucked up to them, and dumbed down his presentation with his white boards and colored markers. Being a college-educated professional with a distaste for butt-kissers, I was insulted by his presentation, but those jurors sure loved it.

and did anyone else catch the fact that cell records show CA never left that house til 4:15pm. Another George lie. So if true Goerges story about hem leaving during his favorite food show is 1 huge lie!

I don't think cell phone records can prove that she didn't leave the house. FICA could very well leave the house just as GA stated and FICA could go a couple of blocks and her cell phone would still ping off the same tower as the house.

Honestly my fear, after watching this unfold over three years, if she was convicted, was that OCA had grounds for ineffective council.

But in the end it is that dumbed down tactic that worked for the P12.

It is, although I do not believe it was a tactic. I think JB sounds dumbed down all the time; it is his normal speech pattern and thought process. When he spoke in court it was not consciously dumbed down...but consciously or not, it was at the jurors' level of understanding.

I was thinking about all of this today and reflecting on the impact of such critical evidence being overlooked and left out at trial.

I was thinking about how upset Linda and Jeff must be, how their stomachs must have turned and how infuriated they must be.

I was also thinking about how if this was another victim, with another family, how that family would be on every talk show demanding answers, red with rage that the murderer of their two year old grandchild was set free while such important and damning evidence sat unused for three years.

What did we get from The Anthony's?

Radio Silence.

A defense attorney is required and bound by law to provide their client with a rigorous defense. He would not be the first nor will he be the last defense attorney to get creative with the truth, and use lies and distractions to do so.

Every televised defense that I have ever seen does the same.

It is what it is.

Jose is disgusting but was well within the parameters of his job, if not, the bar would have censured him or disbarred him.

But a JURY should be able to see through the truth and look at evidence critically and honestly while following the judges instructions. A good amount of critical , unbiased, thought should go into the jury room, if not you end with verdicts like this one.

Jose did his job, no matter how unsavory. The jury did not.

PS... I know how you feel, I cannot stomach him either. He is some kind of horrible.

Jose did his job, only with the help of more experienced defense attorneys! Texting during the trial and computer use, wasn't hard to see he was being prompted. There was nothing brilliant or creative about it, he got lucky!! Had he done it by himself, the verdict would have been different. He is not the brightest bulb.....okay neither were the jury :banghead:

Not only does Baez possess it, he and his team managed during jury selection to weed out anyone with it!

Please do not force me to defend Jose. It darn near kills me to do so, but lets be honest.... He didn't just pull this win outta his butt. He did a remarkable job

The only thing remarkable about Baez is his ability to lie and sell fairy tales to a dumbed down jury, freely without conscience all in the name of setting a child murderer free.
Not to mention, he was constantly screwing up and being reprimanded by Judge Perry in the court room, nothing remarkable about that. Maybe this was his first trial? :waitasec:
So I guess I'd have to say IMO he did pull this win outta his butt.

Nice to see you skbsoccermom! Disputing George's recollection is in keeping with their "George is suspicious" line of defense. It's one of the biggest reasons why I can't give Baez any kudos for winning this victory (that and the lazy jury). George may be a lot of things, but I'm convinced he is not a pedophile, murderer, or accomplice in this crime. To destroy an innocent person's reputation to save a felon, who likely should be sitting with her backside in prison, (not walking around free and eating her weight in HoHo's and nachos), isn't right.

Oh, I think he is an idiot. Always have. I was responding to the posters question about lies. A defense attorney's job is based on twisting and creating new truths. That is what the very essence of their job and no matter how unsavory, he did his job.

Do I think he is smart? No. Do I respect him at all. Absolutely not. If I were a defense attorney, could I have taken her case and did my job to defend her? Nope.

Well, we had a statement from Mr. Lippman. While in theory that sounds true Spice - think about it for a minute maybe?

Has any other family had this much press time and this much negative press time? This family's killer is their own daughter.

They know they've been accused of lying, defending and protecting FCA. They know about the negative press that's been out there since the beginning and is still out there. And they know they are branded the most hated grandparents in America.

CA knows she's thought of as an enabler who prefers her daughter over her grand daughter, and George, without a shred of evidence is still assumed to be or talked about the possibility of being a pervert who helped hide his daughter's crime.

What exactly do you think they could possibly say?:waitasec:

Agree with Logical Girl though, what could they possibly say? They chose their story, and their allegiances. Unfortunately that didn't seem to include any obvious thought, or care, for Caylee.

True, but F. Lee Bailey and Johnny Cochran still knew he was guilty and defended him under "moral cover". I have that on good authority.

They could say that all that they ever wanted was Justice for Caylee and clearly she did not receive it.

If they said that, I truly believe the public would forgive them.

ETA: Just pointing out that this family has never ever ever had a normal reaction to anything in this case. From Pizza, to squirrels, to fake nannies. They certainly did not go through a "normal" situation but they never met a camera they didn't like while pushing Casey's ridiculous agenda. They never did an interview or a deposition where they did nothing but lie and obstruct.....minimizing Caylee's chance for justice at every turn.

Such a stunning difference to all families that have lost a child to abuse or murder.

Yes, they could and I think they would receive an earthquake amount of negative press in return that would go on and on with recriminations that would last for months.

I think that's the reason we saw Lippman's tight controlled press release.
