They needed enough cash flow to keep the dr office open as well so things could have been tight even with the money in the safe.

I still don't understand why Mark told police they were struggling and living paycheck-to-paycheck, but then admitted to having $40,000 cash in a safe? And did he not think they'd find out about the tax lien? Why would he admit to having that 40 K in cash? What did that accomplish?

Has there been any news about the delay in releasing documents? Thanks

Maybe MS thought - If I tell LE we have $40,000 on hand, they'll think I am not desperate enough to be involved in her death even tho we're eking by?

Maybe thought LE cd/easily & quickly get bank a/c info, but not life ins info?
IDK.

Anyone familiar with the Sheila Bellush case? She was murdered in her Florida home by a hired hitman in front of her toddler quadruplets in 1997. Hitman was a young cousin of the middle-man. Middle-man was a golfing buddy of Sheila's ex-husband, Allen Blackthorne. Blackthorne, a Texas millionaire, wanted Sheila dead because he was furious that she had gotten custody of their two daughters, remarried and had quadruplets, and moved to Florida. He stalked her for 10 years before having her murdered.

Outcome of the case:

Hitman took a plea deal on conspiracy charges.
Middle man opted for a trial and was convicted on first degree murder charges in Florida.
Blackthorne was tried in federal court and convicted for interstate conspiracy to commit murder and interstate domestic violence.

Seems I overlooked a middle-man. The hitman was a cousin of a second middle-man, not the one who was convicted in Florida.

Anyway, this article explains why Blackthorne was tried in federal court rather than in the state of Florida.

Interesting read in light of the fact that MS, CWW, and JRR would all be eligible for federal charges as well.

Good point! Or maybe he thought LE would think, "gosh, there's no way this guy could have hired a hit, he's broke minus the cash in the safe and dependent upon his wife." IMO, MS didn't think LE would connect the murder to his BFF. CWW may have been willing to wait for the life insurance payout but I bet most hitman would not.

Honestly, I think they completely underestimated LE and assumed because MS was in CT that LE would never suspect him.

So if MS crossed State lines (in May) and used the banking system and telephone to hire these alleged murderers, would he be charged in Federal or State court? Or the same as CWW. Does LE have to prove where the hiring took place?

The conspiracy occurred across state lines using interstate telecommunication and transportation systems at the very least. Probably using the postal system and banking/financial system as well. Feds could prosecute, but Florida will most likely get first crack at murder charges. IMO

Even if Florida tries and fails to convict, Feds can prosecute without violating double jeopardy rule. IMO

I wonder if there is a link between a pending arrest (MS) and the delay of the doc drop?

Since this is the sidebar....off topic...grandgirls are coming so I will not be reading much over the next week, i get to play Barbies and Shopkins, teach the girls how to make chocolate candy by pinting the Wilton forms and filling the forms, play Uno, teach them about their new key board and kids guitars (last auction day, grandpa bid on the three and got all cheap! And the girls asked for the instruments but new were to pricey...luck was with grandpa), and do Grandma stuff, so I will be busy. I think of 2 little girls without their mom and her family. I have to believe justice will be served. With that I wanted to wish everyone a

Merry Christmas!

I was just about to post the same sentiment (knowing it was a bit OT also), Josie. Goes without saying how heartbreaking this is for those little girls.

Merry Christmas to you and all Sleuths.

I know some disagree on other threads, but I think they are waiting for the holidays to be over for the girls before anymore arrests. They waited this long so what is a few more days. They are keeping tabs on MS so he is not running off anywhere.

For whatever reason, they have been letting him walk around free. I wouldn't expect one now until after Christmas. Hopefully MS can do the jail house rock on NYE.jmo.

He is walking free because of envy. With the hopes that soon the grudge match will be in full swing.

Yeah your probably right, I even posted myself awhile back that they are just waiting for a full flip from CWW and JR.
