There is a small part of me that wonders whether LE arrested him b/c of what he said to the officer, and is now trying to get all the evidence to fit. It just seems odd that they arrested him before any evidence was in. Maybe they had a hunch, and it turned out to be right. Were they prepared to lessen the charges or drop them if it turned out it was an accident?
They arrested him because his son was dead>>>> in full rigor.
They arrested him because he searched how long it takes children to die in a hot car >>>>> searched that 5 days before he killed his son>>>
let his toddler son bake to death in the car.

That would basically be from the moment they arrived in GA.
RH could have sought him out/met him when he lived here for 3 months during his internship with HD.

I just read the entire AJC article. To me, it reads as a piece that was done in Harris' defense. I noticed that in some of the quotes from the hearing, that the response was not added to the article from Stoddard. For example, Harris' lawyer stated that Harris often went to Chick Fil A after dropping Cooper off at day care. However, Stoddard said that it was not often but occasionally. IMO, the only way that Harris' brother was going to allow himself to be interviewed for this article is if there was a promise of some sort about how they (AJC writers of the article) would portray Harris.

I think they are cut from the same cloth. The brother is doing a great job of completely not mentioning Cooper is the victim. He also makes no mention of how Ross is devastated by his death.

I'm reading the post in order, trying to catch up and was going to post the same thing.
Not one word about JRH grieving, crying, missing his son.
Cop brother-- same kind of uncaring ______ fill in the blank.

Could you imagine if Ross got away with killing Cooper, then went on the cruise with his brother's family and LH, and LH went overboard in an alleged suicide? Ross would be vacationing with his cop brother and beyond the pale of suspicion... Maybe that's why he begged his brother to be included on the vaca plans...

Thanks for this. They are also saying the internet searches were misrepresented and that Harris was "oblivious to the other man" who passed him in the parking lot.

Oopsy.

Perhaps brother and AJC need to confront Harris about the "misrepresentation" of the internet searches. Harris, after all, was the one that admitted to LE that he had searched how long and how hot it would need to be before a child would die in a car.

Well, in this neck of the "woods" you need a 20% down payment, a job that you've held for at least 2 years, and a decent credit score to get a mortgage; ever since the housing debacle in 2008.

If RH & LH were planning on getting serious about a home purchase possibility, one of the first things that should be done is to get "pre-qualified" which is where the bank lets you know the price range of a house (down payment/mortgage monthly taken into consideration) you can afford. I don't know too many realtors willing to work with a potential buyer that doesn't have a "pre-qual" letter first and some money to put down. Who wants to randomly show million dollar homes to a buyer who in reality can't qualify for a $50,000. home? Hence the need for the "pre-qual".

Now, if they did have a "pre-qual" letter and was serious about purchasing a home, most lenders will strongly advise that in the meantime you don't rack up your credit cards (i.e., buy expensive guitars, book expensive cruises) after they have run the check and did their calculations. They don't want the debt-to-loan ratio to become worse. Banks even will run them again right before closing and look at your debt, purchases, credit scores, ensure job history, etc.
Banks will re-neg on their mortgage promise if things have changed.

If you get insurance and can put down 10% you can qualify in some places. I just bought a vacation cabin and did this. I totally agree about NOT running up credit cards. I also know that you generally need to put up an "earnest money deposit" when you submit a contract, which in the case of my recent purchase of a $70K home was a minimum of $1,000. The cruise, credit card, and deposit would have tapped them out with no money left for a home inspector, downpayment, escrow, and other settlement costs.

Seems to me that Stoddard stating Harris' breakfast routine would be more on the side of hearsay. I mean it is a fact that he does live in another state, and most likely didn't attend the breakfast trips, right?

Editing to retract my post: I misread the original post and thought the brother said this. I have been corrected and realize that Stoddard is not the brother-in-law. My bad. Please disregard this post.

Should we have an AJC thread? With the article and interview in the opening post so everyone can find it?
If so can someone who knows what they are doing open one for discussion

Stoddard is the police officer investigating this case, not the brother.

Stoddard testified to what Harris told him concerning breakfast. The employees of Chick Fil A were also interviewed and may/may not have said how often Harris comes in for breakfast with and without Cooper.

Yes, I would expect even with pre-approval, they would still need a down payment from their own money. JMO

You can do it with a "gift letter" where a relative offers to GIVE the money to you with no expectation of being repaid. Perhaps Leanna's parents would have helped with that?

Interview with reporter Bill Torpy who works for AJC & saw video.

Thanks for both, gngr~snap! :seeya:

From the interview:

Bill Torpy: It was different, I think, than what I saw.

Not a strong statement.

I was also surprised by the written article; it was a lot softer than I expected. More quote-mining than hard refutation. Just MOO.

I have wondered if there was family money somewhere, still scratching my head on her lawyer and how that got set up...

Wow! I need to quit trying to multi-task. Time to take a break. Thank you! I just read the entire post incorrectly, AND posted an incorrect question. My bad.

When Leanna was filmed arriving at that house in Alabama, wasn't it said that she and her mother were staying in a room over the garage of the house that was owned by a doctor and his wife? If so, then it sounds as if Leanna's parents (or just mom, not sure that dad is in the picture) are not well off themselves.

Wanna splish — and splash — the day away? Head on over to WaterWorks, our very own onboard waterpark. First up, there’s the Twister Waterslide, designed to make other waterslides jealous. Twister is hundreds of feet of spiraling awesomeness that starts you off high in the air and gets you down low with one of the fastest, wettest rides you’ll find anywhere. Select ships feature side-by-side racing slides, which make serious competition seriously fun. You’ll want to wear your speed suit for Speedway Splash, now on Carnival Sunshine, which features hundreds of feet of racing action, plus special lighting effects you can experience while on the road to victory. DrainPipe ends your slide experience with one major swirl of a finish, while PowerDrencher takes soaking seriously — imagine the biggest bucket of water you’ve ever seen, raining down on you from above. And this isn’t just kids’ stuff — the young at heart are encouraged to zoom and splash around too! (WaterWorks configurations vary by ship.)

from the wesbsite: http://www.carnival.com/onboard/cruise-entertainment/waterworks.aspx

This is NOT an experience suitable for ANY small child, especially one who can not yet swim.

I didn't see anywhere in the article that RH specifically wanted to take Cooper swimming or on a slide.

Jmo I am interested to see what pans out on the searching for info about hot car deaths vs. clicking on a link to watch a video. There is a difference, Imo.

ht_casey_anthony_trial_photos_10_nt_110531_ssh.jpg

Some saw this as disgusting display of "Bella Vita" by a mother whose child is allegedly missing at the time.

Jose Baez said this is what grief looks like.

Just saying.

Images, photos and videos are all open to interpretation IMO. The surveillance videos give Stoddard and the DA one impression and reporter and RH brother another. Waiting to see what mine are at trial if we get to view it.
