ZT: I drove a VW Sharan. It was silver-grey.

ZT: I've taken people from the Cape Grace to the airport before. On several occasions.

ZT: We left the airport. I tried to explain to them about the beauty & importance of our airport.

Ntuthuzelo Nene ‏@daniel_nene1 4m4 minutes ago

Tongo says he told the Dewani's about the hotel they were going to stay in, and about the beauty of Cape Town

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago
ZT: On getting onto the N2, I explained to them the squatter camps (shanty towns) surrounding us.

ZT: I also explained the significance of the township, next to us. (Gugulethu)

ZT: I explained that tourists/people visiting like to go to places where they are braaing meat (BBQ)

ZT: I told them about kwaMzolis.

ZT: I also explained about the locations where the Coloured people are staying.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

I explained about one of the townships, called kwaLanga.

I was trying to market myself. As my job is to transport people, I wanted to sell myself for them to hire me.

ZT: I didn't know how long the couple would be in CPT.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I also explained to them about the Groote Schuur Hospital. I explained everything we came across along the way.

News24 ‏@News24 3m3 minutes ago

Tongo told Dewanis about township, Mzoli's - remember the defence argues Anni said she wanted to see 'the real Africa'.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: It was quiet in the motor vehicle. But there were questions that came up. Not many.

ZT: The husband was the one asking the questions. The lady was quiet.

ZT: The trip from the airport to the hotel was 20 mins.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I stopped at the hotel. The lady exited. I opened the boot. The porters approached to assist with the luggage.

ZT: I remained behind with the husband.

ZT: I gave the price to him. He paid me. I charged R250.

ZT: He gave me an amount of R300.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: Because I did not have change on me, he said I could take the R50 as a tip.

ZT: While i was selling myself, just to make sure, I went to the vehicle to look for a business card.

ZT: I found one and gave it to the gentleman.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: He took the business card.

ZT: While standing behind the car, confirming whether i was getting a job, he said to me he has a job for me.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I should wait at the paring. That was good news. I decided, hunger is over now. I waited at the parking area.

ZT: The gentleman went into the hotel, saying he's just going to check in.

ZT: I should just wait for a few minutes. He's coming.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 4m4 minutes ago

ZT: The gentleman came back. It wasn't even 10 mins later.

ZT: The gentleman got into the car & said to me he has a job for me. The job will grow my business.

ZT: He said my business will grow because he is from overseas and can refer others to me. I was happy.

ZT: Then the gentleman said the job he has, there is somebody that needs to be removed out of sight.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I asked him what he means because I am not involved in such things. he said no, he wants somebody to be killed.

ZT: I responded by saying that I'm not involved in such things, but there's somebody in the locations. I will enquire.

ZT: That person might know someone.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: We continued speaking. He wanted to make sure that I get in touch with this person.

ZT: He said that it's his business partner or someone who's in business with him & will arrive the following day.

ZT: He said it's a woman.

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 3m3 minutes ago

Tongo says Dewani told him his business partner was arriving the next day and that's the target.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 2m2 minutes ago

ZT: We then parted ways.

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 3m3 minutes ago
They left it at that. They parted ways.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: He had my number and I had his.

ZT: We got into details. If I meet this man, I must go with something complete.

ZT: The details were-If they were going to agree, what money they wanted.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: He explained to me that he was going to pay an amount of R15000 and when the job is finished, I will get R5000.

ZT: then we parted ways.

ZT: I left since I had another pick up at the airport, but I received a message that the flight has been delayed.

ZT: I went to see my friend, who worked at the Protea hotel, Century City.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: His name is Monde.

EWN Reporter ‏@ewnreporter 3m3 minutes ago

Tongo says he went to go see his friend Monde at Century City. (The middle man)

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 4m4 minutes ago

ZT: I phoned the hotel, to find out if Monde was there. I got hold of him. I told him I'm on my way.

ZT: I arrived at the hotel. I made jokes with them (the workers), as usual. I met with Monde.

ZT: He was on his way to one of the rooms. I waited downstairs.

ZT: Monde lives in the location, so he knows everything that's happening there.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I remember him telling me one day, they were at the beach, there must be things he's aware of.

ZT: I told Monde that I was at the airport, dropped clients at the Cape Grace. That he says he has a job for me.

ZT: Monde wanted to know what kind of job. I said the person said a person is arriving the following day.

ZT: And that this person wants that person to be taken out of sight.

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: Monde joked and said "I wonder if those are not Islamic people." I said I don't know.

ZT: He says he knows of a young man & will call him to explain the job.

ZT: We went inside, he looked for the man's number. We went outside, then he phoned the man, explaining about the job

Leigh-Anne Jansen ‏@LA_JANSEN 3m3 minutes ago

ZT: I could hear, here and there (the conversation between Monde and the man)
