Re my post above
I'm honestly surprised by another autopsy to be done in the UK.
Is it standard procedure?
I certainly would request if Jay were my son.

I seem to recall a report that Jay's family were informed and given some time to process before news was released to the mediaI read elsewhere that his friends were putting out RIP messages the night before which is giving the conspiracists yet another reason to get excited.
I'm only rationalising it by suggesting that if that's the case, the helicopter team may not have had time to assemble and complete a difficult recvovery before dark.
Seems to me he seen the sea from the Airbnb and thought he could get there as the crow flies without realising the mountain was not a linear declineThe almost inaccessible spot where he died is only a few hundred yards from areas which were repeatedly searched for almost a month by police, volunteers and members of his family after his disappearance on June 17.

Jay Slater's final hours: Map reveals teen's route before 'fatal fall'
Local residents who know the area have speculated that he may have fallen while heading towards the sea so he could follow the coast to return to his hotel.www.dailymail.co.uk
The Civil Guard in Tenerife confirmed today the missing man’s body found in a ravine near the village of Masca was his and said everything was pointing to him dying in an accidental fall. They also said his injuries had included broken bones in a statement released shortly after court officials also revealed Jay’s identity had been confirmed through fingerprints after initially claiming full identification wouldn’t happen till “next week” because the body was “very deteriorated.”
The question of whether police now have a watch the 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer reportedly confessed to stealing from a reveller during an altercation outside Papagayo Beach Club near his holiday accommodation, remained unanswered last night.

Spanish cops refuse to say whether Jay's 'stolen' £12k Rolex has been recovered
It is alleged Jay Slater had confessed to stealing the Rolex watch before his death but The Civil Guard in Tenerife remained coy when asked questions about the claimswww.mirror.co.uk
Or ghouls who want to visit the spot he perished. The teams don't want to have to rescue anyone else because some idiots engage in dark tourism imoI wonder if they are not disclosing the location of where he was found because there ‘may’ be an expensive watch nearby and they don’t want people going down searching for it and having further accidents. JMO.

Hi Dotta my response was to a poster who suggested /questioned as to whether the spot that Jay's remains were found, if exact location was being concealed from the public due to the possibility of a rolex laying about and I was suggesting that prehaps the authorities don't want any other injuries or fatalities so would prefer not to reveal location rather than it being for fear of people looking for an expensive watch ,Sorry I didn't explain in previous post when I was suggesting dark tourism as a reasoning i know these type of tragedies attract all sorts of ghouls unfortunately .Thank you for posting the most obvious reason being that it is a protected nature reserveThe authorities put limits of tourists going there
and they must pay tourist tax.
Teno Rural Park is Special Nature Reserve.
It must be protected.
(As was reported in these threads)
My brother died of a heart attack on mainland Spain . He was in a temperature controlled environment before being flown home 18 days later . After requesting an open coffin , my SIL was advised STRONGLY not to see my Bro . Although heartbroken she did heed these warnings thankfully . I'd like to add there was a strong odour from the closed coffin .Absolutely heartbreaking for her. Having lost a baby son myself (not in the same circumstances), I can totally understand the need for wanting to see him again. But as you say it will be very difficult and perhaps not a very nice last memory. JMO.
I'm sitting on the other side of the world, yet have nice tools at my disposalI post up here some screenshots of what I believe to be the region, and general path, J went down. I think the map on the DM isn't quite accurate, and have included that same map here with what I think may have been J's actual route marked in blue.
Your post made me wonder, possibly he thought he was actually on Masca trail, that does go down to Masca beach? He appears to have been one ravine over from that.Think you may be right with your blue route, looks like he may have strayed onto the "challenging" Barranco trail
There's an account by some people who made the descent here -> Barranco Juan López - Teno Mountains - Tenerife | SiebenInseln- with photos, which show that, even if Jay had made it down to the sea, there's nothing there other than a lonely little rocky beach!
