I still say she should have gone for insanity. Don't think it would have worked, but it would have made more sense. Then at least the defense would resemble something that made sense.

I don't know if someone like Jodi is capable of regret, but I'd like to think all the woulda-coulda-shouldas will torment her in the coming years.

Google Images for Frank Sinatra Magazine covers. A page will come up and shows 5 covers. Tap any one. When the next page comes up, slide them to the left. You will see the one jodi has. Is she really claiming to be hers? Unreal

Does jodi have access to a computer? Not sure about that. Someone went to the above site to get this picture. Its from a magazine cover way back.

Maybe they will get a bag supper for her from Joe A.

Only part of the story, IMO.

We're told that the jury cannot deliberate on weekends due to having no after-hours security for the Jury Room.

If true, how would there be enough security for the entire courtroom, chambers, gallery, Jury Room, lobby, etc. after hours on a Wednesday?

Part of this story is missing.

So is there or is there not after-hours security available?

If so, why doesn't JSKS allow the jury to deliberate over the weekend, immediately following closing arguments on Thu/Fri?

I went to re-listen to her testimony during juror questions because I thought that Juan showing the dark hair photos the day before the murder was a shock to Jodi--she had a "sad" face on. So satisfying!

I hope jurors were as shocked as I was at the look of peaceful contentment on Jodi's face in those pics, knowing she was on her way to buy the third gas can and then straight to Mesa.

Shes not capable of regret. Regrets getting caught. I guess she will find out later today she was caught taking credit for something thats not hers. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

I heard there is no treatment that works. The reason is they use it as an opportunity to play head games with the Dr.

That's not the case any more. There is a therapy called Dialectic Behavior Therapy developed specifically for BPD. It's a 1 - 2 yr pgm and is very intensive, 3-4 days a week. I first went through in 2005 and go for periodic "tune-ups". It's been extremely successful and is now been modified for other diagnosis also.

I first knew there was something "different" about 1990 so have been seeking help for many, many years. DBT has been a tremendous help. BUT just like any illness and any treatment, a person must be willing to do it. Jodi has too many other characteristics (narcissism etc...) to even recognize it...imo.

BBM: Wait just a minute! Didn't Jodi tell Det. Flores that Travis didn't lock his doors because of the Law of Attraction? (Locking doors would invite burglars.) Then why would Travis have a gun? Wouldn't that invite killers? :what:

Oh, never mind… :furious:

We keep forgetting.. JODI LIES... never forget

....and to add to what Arabian said: DBT, CBT, and sometimes in conjunction with medication (Wellbutrin, Lanactil, etc.) there is hope for a good prognosis. To reiterate, the person must be willing, have the means, and the fortitude to continue therapy.

Agree; her expression was more than one of resignation.

I read excitement and eager anticipation on that gleeful visage.

We've seen hints of it at times, especially during her mugshoot, 48 Hours, Inside Edition and testiphony on the stand -- she 'cleans up purty good 'n all -- but I'm betting she's at least 12-18 pounds leaner now and deep down knows that this is not going as well as she needs it to.

Albeit robotic and rehearsed, I could smell her fear as she told the jury that she had killed TA.

Truth-telling is entirely foreign to this one. Try as she might, she cannot do it naturally, even and especially when her life is in the balance.

I heard JSKS say that they would stay until finished on Wednesday.

I frankly doubt her word.

Objections, sidebars, cross-exam, juror questions, cycle repeats, JA has to be back for supper...

Not only that, but it's also a WEDNESDAY.....and just about time for a "migraine".

yes, i find it curious too,, I don't understand why he would start his cross with this, im confused, what point was he trying to make, and specifically, what is your theory or the possible motive to this strategy as for starting with this picture of her dumb sister???

I was wondering that, too. I thought he was trying to show that JA was also capable of saying nasty things to other people, just like Travis said to her. But it's very common to say, at least as children, little things like that to your siblings once in a while, and that example was mild.

I like the explantion that JM did it to mess with Jodi's mind. Judging from her expression, it worked! :floorlaugh:

IMO, sometimes I think he was strictly playing with her.. tossing things out she is not expecting to throw her off her stride. I noticed him do that a lot. Distracts psycho babble.

way, way back in time...lol....when JM started his cross the way he did, the dumb sister thing, I remember reading that JM used this approach because of her sociopathic/psychopathic personalityand this approach would catch her way off guard, make her mad, and would serve to provoke it and bring it out at the get-go...he was well aware of her pathological lying, as well as her acting ability, and his infinite wisdom through all his years of experience, plus with some experts he may have consulted with about thiis type of personality, told him it was more important for the jury to see her as she truly is than to worry about how he may sound by asking it

There may be a difference though. Shes a cold hearted killer. Nothing can make her care. For example, she lied about the intruders. But that was not enough. She enjoyed telling that story to 48 hours and Inside Edition. She embelishes everything.

You neglected to add Juan Martinez t the list of men she confronted. I think she met her match there.

If you need to see JM in action, here he is at a clemency hearing for Robert Towery. He has so much passion and the Towery case seems so much like JA's- he "had" PTSD also.
JM starts at about 20.53:

Towery was executed- ran out of appeals, but took a long time.

Carried this over from the other thread. Posted # 1550 from last thread by Nhic.

What’s Wrong With Dr. Geffner?

Though Dr. Geffner has some pretty hefty credentials he also has some serious issues having been impeached in some court cases. Check it out:

1. His background is impressive, he is the Founder and President of the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Institute in San Diego, California. He has been a researcher and consultant for 28 years and has presented over 450 key note speeches.

2. Now the bad news- for him: (This info is from a comment made by ‘Nancy B’ on the ‘My Crime Time’ blog). Regarding the Case of Cyndie O’Rourke v. James O’Rourke the court found Dr. Geffner to be nothing more than a ‘hired gun’ for the Mother in this case. This was a divorce/custody case where the Father prevailed. Apparently the MMPI test found ‘maladaptive personality traits’ in the Mother and Dr. Geffner challenged the use of the MMPI test and even went on to recommend that the Mother file ethics complaints against the other mental health professionals in the case.He felt he was the expert and the others were out of their expertise. (Nancy B. shares a link for info. on the ‘My Crime Time’ blog). This indicates to me he will most likely imply the MMPI test is not valid in this case and Dr. Demarte doesn’t have the credentials that he does and her opinion is therefore inadequate.

3. Dr. Geffner testified that he no longer treats patients but devotes all his time to consulting work related to his specialty. He has been an expert witness in a number of cases in different jurisdictions. Though he has testified in a great number of cases he stated that he did not remember very much about the facts of those cases.

4. In a Texas case; Clark v. Collins, 956 F.2d 68 (5th Circuit 1992) the court found that Dr. Geffner’s affidavit lacked credibility, in part because it was based on hearsay information supplied by the defendant’s attorney with no independent verification. (Sound like any defense attorneys we know who believe everything their client says?)

5. The court also excluded the Dr.’s testimony in Hawaii v. French, 129 P.3d 581 (Hawaii 2006) involving allegations of child sexual abuse.

6. In State v. Supulvado, 655 So.2d 623 (La. App. 1995) the court limited most of his testimony as he relied mostly on the information supplied by the defendant and he testified about effects of brain damage on emotional functioning though he is not a medical doctor.

7. So I dug a little more and found this:

Strickland v. Washington, 466 U.S. 668, 687, 104 S.Ct. 2052, 2064, 80 L.Ed.2d 674 (1984). “[C]ounsel is strongly presumed to have rendered adequate assistance and made all significant decisions in the exercise of reasonable professional judgment. Id. at 690, 104 S.Ct. at 2066.

22 The state trial court found that Dr. Geffner’s affidavit lacked credibility for three reasons: (1) the evaluation, which makes conclusions as to Clark’s conduct in 1987, was conducted five years later, in 1992; (2) Dr. Geffner did not review the court records or a transcript of the trial testimony; and (3) Dr. Geffner relied upon records from Clark’s childhood in Pennsylvania, with no records since 1976, and upon hearsay information supplied by Clark’s attorneys, with no independent verification of the information, and interviews with Clark. The state court further found that, even if credible, Dr. Geffner’s affidavit does not support a conclusion that Clark was either incompetent or insane at the time of the murders, or that he did not act deliberately within the meaning of the first special issue.

8. Oh, and did I mention he was an editor for Alyce LaViolette?

Should be a field day for Mr. Martinez!

This sounds exactly like what Samuels and laviolette did! Conducted evals years later, no independent verification of the accused's testimony.

Juan needs to bring all this up, and Judge Sherry needs to really limit this guys testibloney!!!!!

Your right. She became angry and corrected him. She said my dumb stupid sister.

so since the judge told us closing arguments thursday and friday does that mean we will have to listen to a full day of nurmi and co rambling on thursday? i dunno if i can do it,as much as i want justice for Travis i would be pulling my hair out

Closing arguments are as follows:

State
Defense
State

State has the burden of proof, therefore they get the last word.

What burns me about ALV declaring TA was abusive was based (almost) solely on the May 26th text when TA was furious and we don't know WHY. If Jodi was threatening to expose him to the church he had every right to be.

If you remove Jodi's lies ALV based almost everything on 1 or 2 text msg. She should be ashamed now for crying on the shoulder of Geffner that it's Martinez fault she's lost her credibility.

Snipped:

I mentioned this the other day after Deanna testified. It really hit home for me how much ALV lied...

I was so angry Thursday after Deanna testified and revealed what TA referenced as "abhorrent" behavior was nothing more than him feeling bad that after dating her for so long he didn't want to marry her.

ALV was challenged several times about relying solely on JA's word about abuse...she kept insisting, "no I didn't do that even his friends knew," and would bring up that email.

Instead of hanging her head in shame over such a blatant disregard for the truth she gets her friend involved to help perpetrate these lies. She's as much of a narcissist as JA!!!!!!!!!

There are times when jodi looks at JM like she would like to kill him. The look in her eyes when he went over gas receipts and she realized where he was going with it. She had fury in her eyes.
