So, watching Chris Hughes on DD tonight.

He said that being Mormon is no different than most other religions in that pre-marital sex is discouraged. He said he and Sky KNEW that TA and JA were having a sexual relationship but he didn't ask for details. And that hey, he was a young single guy, and that's totally normal. (With which I agree)

So then if it's an acceptable part of young, single life to have sexual relationships, why the whole facade of "thirty-year-old virgin"? Why did his friends say on camera in the 48 hrs show that they disapproved of the type of relationship Travis carried on with Jodi?

I'm gonna call BS here and say that TA was under a great deal of pressure to appear chaste. I know the Hughes' cared for Travis, but I honestly find them both a bit hinky. I do not believe that TA having a sexual relationship with Jodi was all cool and hunky dory in Travis' social circle.

I'm sorry, but I think Travis was under totally UNREALISTIC expectations from his friends and church. I think the Hugheses are being disingenuous NOW to say "oh yeah, the sex thing, no big deal, it's cool". I think they likely pressured Travis to CTR, and he felt obliged to hide from them the true nature of his ongoing relationship with JA.

Sorry, but the Hugheses really bug me. I think they were WAY too involved in TA's life.

Hi Frayed! Here's my take ..I think many in that circle were not chaste. I think the whole virgin thing was sort of like a misnomer in their community. I also think Jodi was socially inappropriate in her behavior and THAT was a problem. Discretion is everything in those types of situations and she was clearly incapable of being discreet. I hope this didn't offend anyone ... It's of course only my opinion.

ETA .. I find both the Hughes' dodgy.

Is there a copy of the motion anywhere or a description of it?

KN and JW and their bag of tricks, the jury is gonna be sooooooooo burnt out on their witnesses. They must not realize that, or just don't care.

Nurmi must agree with you because he kept trying to get her to say the word "rape" and she just wouldn't do it.

That was just a well-rehearsed DT vignette for the jury.

We all know that victims of domestic violence lie to protect their abusers.

(But only slightly less than torture-murderesses lie, of course.)

Sorry if this has already been mentioned. In Kristin's blog, she provides excerpts from DF's police report. What a FASCINATING read!!!

I had read the entire report in late January but after so much new info has come forth thru the trial and the sleuthing/conversations here, some of the remarks in the report take on a whole new meaning!

Things that intrigued me include:

- JA mentioning a desire to consult an attorney before giving an official statement, and then 4 days later when she calls Flores she says she regrets saying that and is willing to give her statement.

- JA mentions an upcoming trip to Tucson in a few weeks - suggests she can meet with Flores then to give her statement.

- JA asks to get some of her clothes from Travis' house (then says something about them not being valuable and she wouldn't bother anyone).

- JA is a part of a group visiting the police station to provide fingerprints and DNA sample on 6-17 in Mesa.

- Here's an exact excerpt from DF the report that poses that make me go Huh? (italics mine):
I asked if she had sent Travis an email about coming down to visit him. She said she had sent him that email just a week or so before he was found. She said he did not respond so she assumed he was probably off in California.- JA tells DF that she was planning to stay at TA's house while he was visiting friends".

- Clancy Talbot talked about how the trip from NorCal to SLC should have only taken 10 hours and how she thought JA may have gone to Mesa.

- CT said JA was not scheduled to be part of the PPL conference on the 5th, but JA told Ryan that she was just passing thru. However, other people were told by JA that she was coming there specifically to see Ryan.

Many of these initial statements seem to be contradictory to what we've heard or they confirm JA's ability to lie (and also insinuate herself into activities she's not invited to - eg. here it is the SLC PPL conference)

There's tons more good info in DF's report. I think there's a link provided in the timeline area at the beginning of the thread. Great read and something to keep us occupied while the countdown to Wednesday continues.

BBM~ Yes, like Jodi draping herself all over Travis is social settings. She is totally classless.

:goodpost:

Thank you for this- I truly thought I was the only one who felt verrrrrrrry icy toward the Hughes. I totally agree with you.

BBM

Lol, but your surname is "Frost".

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Thanks for seeing my POV! :seeya:

Does anyone have a link to the the Hughes' on HLN tonight?

tia!

I actually believe Chris when he says he knew they were having sex. They stayed in their home. I'm sure they knew they were staying in the same room and they weren't stupid.

I don't disgree that T felt pressure in most of his social circle to remain chaste but I'm sure not all.

Also IMO, T was a show off. He was arrogant. He's the type that would want everyone to think he was holy, like Christ, the perfect Mormon. I'm sure he enjoyed it.

:ohoh:Now I'm going to have bad dreams about the Defendant and DT wearing ugly green again.:hills:

Also? Jodi Ann Arias has absolutely zero talent as a photographer. As erotica, those nudie pix she took suck.

I have a strong feeling JSS will put her foot down and say NO to the DT.

They've had their chance, this trial cannot afford to lose any more jurors, otherwise, there will be a mistrial. moo

KN and JW and their bag of tricks, the jury is gonna be sooooooooo burnt out on their witnesses. They must not realize that, or just don't care.

At this point every calculated, underhanded move by the DT solidifies my hope that she fries, and I wish I could mean that literally. The needle is too good for her at this point IMO.

I've always held a "quasi pro-death penalty mentality," meaning I feel an eye for an eye is fair, yet I never really knew if when push came to shove I could actually sit on a jury and say "yes this person deserves to die for their actions."

With JA and the way she has killed travis again by her lies and accusations, I have no such qualms.

ITA! To bring the degenerate and deviant and criminal pedophilia accusations upon Travis to save her skin should be a felony on its own. Not so unlike CA saying her father forced oral sex on her when she was a young girl. And the Menendez brothers saying their father did the same. None of these murderers has faced consequences for those particular acts of reputation slaughter. imo.

I found it interesting that JA's visit with Ryan lasted less than 24 hours -- more like 14 hrs.

I think the big deal in TA's eyes was that he'd already been to the Bishop about pre-marital sex with Deanne & this would have been strike two for for him.

She can't bring herself to acknowledge the knife attack. Really, it's just too vicious.

LOLs from me when the talking heads call her a professional photographer. Have they seen her myspace photography page?

Well thankfully for you, you need not worry about him afflicting the world with these things. He was murdered.

The Menendez also tried to play on the sympathy of the jury, by making it an issue that they are now orphans. WHO made them ORPHANS?
