IDK about a bat -- and please know that I'm not trying to be gross or morbid -- seems to me that with force, one swing of a bat could smash a head to pieces. And most anyone with normal strength could have that necessary force. I think it was something with a bit less heft. Maglight sounds more likely to me. I don't know. Crescent wrench? PVC pipe? Crow bar? Tire iron? Crescentric. Something found in a garage or a car trunk, perhaps.

30 blows -- yes, that is rage and hate.

borndem, the ME gave more details for the first time:

Crescentary abrasion---3-4 blows to upper arm

Wounds to lips could have been done with fist.

The rest of the lacerations would have been done with a heavy blunt object

The 2 skull fractures and his opinion of "heavy blunt object" pretty much eliminates the Mag Lite theory. The 'crecent - half moon' shaped marks on her upper arm suggest to me, a rounded weapon of some sort. Personally, I will go with the weapon of opportunity, a candle stick lamp base from the bedside table. If he brought in a weapon for a backup plan for a failed strangulation, I put bets on an aluminum softball bat from the garage....MOO
