Father-in-law of Susan Cox Powell arrested for voyeurism, possession of nude photos of minors in Washington

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/...m-possession-of-nude-photos-of-minors-in.html

The newspaper reports that the 61-year-old was arrested Thursday for investigation of voyeurism and possession of depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct for taking photos of individuals aged 7-years-old to adults that were taken of "intimate parts" with a camera with a telephoto lens.

Sheriff's officials said some of the photos appeared to have been taken from inside Steven Powell's home. It is believed the photos were taken between June 2006 and August 2007.

OMG!!! He was a bigger perv than we thought!

Maybe selling the pics to other pervs for profit. Now we know how he could afford all the adult kids at home and none apparently employed. :maddening:

Dang, now he has to give up his job with the prison system and go live there. LOL

Considering the journals were in his possession, I wouldn't have believed anything in them because they could easily have been doctored. She is no longer here to authenticate anything in them. But he could have tried to make her look bad.

And this deviant sexual pervert had the nerve to appear on national television and spew that Susan was very sexual? That Susan came onto him? OMG - I knew he was really creepy (even saying so in many posts), but I didn't realize just how creepy.

What's scary is he was under LE's eye all this time. Does anyone know when these crimes took place? Recent? If Susan was in some of them, I would imagine it's old evidence -- but curious all the same.

I can't tell you how pleased I am to see this guy behind bars. I hope the judge gives him a really high bail.

MOO

ETA: thanks - I just read the crimes took place 2006-2007. Seems we have a criminal that likes to keep hold of his videos. What a <unusual> man.

The only way JP can keep those kids now is if he leaves his daddy's house and has zero contact with him. If not he has to give up the boys. If he does move, you can bet your sweet bippy he will get caught violating that order and the kids are out for sure

Is there a court order? I'm having problems loading all the articles. Thanks

A big thanks to Snupy who was the first to post the arrest. I think i twas HatesSociopaths that provide the first link

Give it up Josh - the train is bearing down at a fast rate of speed............

I seldom find things to laugh about on this forum.......but I just spat my drink on my screen.

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Does anyone think It's possible that Good old Pop's here may have done something to susan all on his own . Im talking like full 100 percent his own responsability and Josh 0 percent is that a possabillity ..?

See my post from earlier today on the other thread. Whole theory of this. Uncanny. Now, if he has contacts with vile pervs buying and looking....many of them may know of traffickers too. Connections...connections. LE may have another huge can of worms on their hands besides Susan's case. If something did happen to Susan...she's still talkin' !!!!!! imo

Susan is with LE, she is helping as much as she can from her place of peace. I'm hoping she is alive and SP has her stashed in some secret dungeon and takes her food.

Non employed............including SP now, I'm sure!

Several of the photos were of two young girls while they were in the bathroom. Investigators identified the girls and interviewed their mother, Lindquist said. The mother said she would leave the blinds open upstairs when it was hot and never thought someone would be watching and photographing her daughters.

The images were on videotapes and compact discs found in Steve Powell's bedroom when Pierce County sheriff's detectives and West Valley City police served a warrant on the home Aug. 25, Troyer said.

I hope he gets a shocking pink suit to wear!

Voyeurism is a class C felony, so how many years if he is charged with 14 counts?

I found it:

Class C Felonies: Punishable by up to 5 years in prison and/or $10,000 in fines.

Crime Classifications in Washington

Crimes in Washington generally fall into two categories: (1) felonies and (2) misdemeanors. The exact punishment that can be imposed upon conviction of a crime depends on the type of crime and the individuals prior criminal record.

Felonies: Generally speaking, a felony is a crime for which the sentence may be more than one year in prison. In the state of Washington, there are three classes of felonies: Class A (maximum penalty of life in prison and $50,000 fine), Class B (maximum penalty 10 years in prison and $20,000 fine), and Class C (maximum penalty 5 years in prison and $10,000 fine). Sentencing in felony cases is governed by the Sentence Reform Act of 1981, which established determinate sentencing based on the seriousness level of the offense (levels I XVI; level I being the least serious) and the defendants offender score. The offender score is determined by looking at the number and type of prior convictions. To view the felony sentencing grids, go to the Washington Sentencing Guidelines Commission.
