I thought cash bond meant you have to have the whole amount and 10% meant just that. A bail bondsman may require only 10% in order for them to post the whole amount but they will want collateral. I can't see a bail bondsman giving steve a break.
Cash Bonds

What is a cash bond? A cash bond is the full amount of the bond required, paid in cash, to release a defendant from jail.

How much does a cash bond cost? A cash bond costs the full amount of the bond AND a nonrefundable $10 Sheriff's fee if the bond is posted after regular office hours with the jail. Example: A $500 cash bond would cost a total of $510 ($500 plus $10).

How do I post a cash bond? For instructions on how to post a cash bond, call your local Sheriff’s Office. Note: You do not need to pay a bail bond agent to post a cash bond because you or another person can post a cash bond.

Child custody trial set for 5/31/2012. http://www.co.pierce.wa.us/cfapps/linx/calendar/GetCivilCase.cfm?cause_num=11-3-03627-7

I don't get this. Why not sooner? I thought they were meeting next week.

Oh wow, Im suprised there isnt an emergency/temporary custody hearing scheduled. thats crazy!

There is an emergency hearing set for Wednesday, I believe. After that, the custody hearing will be heard next May, is my understanding?

I am hopeful that the kids will be placed with the Cox's temporarily. The court must understand the absolute danger they are in with josh powell.

Appears Josh inherited the creepy genes from his father. There is an Axis I going on here for sure in both of them.

I am concerned that steve powell's creepy behavior and obsession with Susan is grounds to cause him to be a POI. And I suspect that he is some sort of accessory, although I don't think he actually had a hand in the murder.

What concerns me though is, as we have seen with other cases, if it is not clear exactly who is responsible, that can allow for reasonable doubt to a defendant's guilt. He can just point to the other, potential suspect. That worries me. And I don't know if these two will turn on each other or not. But I can hope, I guess. That would be the best outcome, that one of them or both of them talks.

any pop handwriting experts here? I studied it for 10 minutes in college, lol.

Take this with a grain of salt, please-IIRC

His siggy doesnt touch the signature line, which indicates that he is not grounded in reality at this moment....perhaps he is in shock that he was arrested and charged.

It interests me that he obscures his names with writing one on top of the other.

On the surface he seems pretty full of himself, given the size of the first letters of his name, but if you look at the tiny letters following the initial one, he has a teeeny tiny sense of self in his "ego" line...his day to day person.

He thinks he is all that intellectually, BUT, on the inside he is almost invisible.

This is all from what I remember from almost 29 years ago, lol. :truce:

Which means I could be completely wrong. :)

Interesting analysis!

Steven Powell was fired Friday from his job at the Washington State Department of Corrections, KIRO 7 Reporter Chris Legeros confirmed.
News of his dismissal came after Powell was arrested Thursday night on charges of voyeurism and child *advertiser censored*.

School Rep: Powell Didn't Interact With Kids

Guess it just became that much harder for him to come up with bail!!!!!!!!!!! What on earth are all his free loading kids going to do now? Especially joshie!

From JVM: The boys are in foster care at least until next Wed. Susan's parents must relocate? so they can begin the legal process. (This is so wrong. Give Susan's parents her children immediately!!!!!)
http://blog.thenewstribune.com/crim...-state-custody-grandparents-file-for-custody/

Even though I'm thrilled that the boys are out of that environment, I hate the thought of how scared and confused they must be to be in foster care. I hope someone they know is allowed to see them. As long as it's supervised, I'd even be okay with Josh talking to them for a minute - just to say, "Look. Everything is going to be okay. This is just for a few days. Lots of people love you!" (Unfortunately, I doubt that would be all he'd have to say. I imagine it would be followed by something to the effect of, "Your grandpa Chuck is trying to destroy our family, and keep us from being together.")

Those poor kids have been through enough. Who knows what they've been told about the Coxes? They're going to have to have therapy and time to get to where they can trust anyone whose last name isn't Powell. But for now, my heart breaks that they are essentially getting punished for things with which they have nothing to do.

Anne Bremner on HLN stated LE has only gone through about 5% of all the pics, videos, etc.

:silenced: I suspect there will be more charges to come. This may be like Zahra's case. Charge and prosecute the evil one with everything they can so there will be no chance he will ever get out!

If LE stated there are other POI's I suspect that is a message somebody better start talking!

I still have this nagging hope that she is alive somewhere being held for Steve's pleasure.

She was so sweet and pretty. It is so sad her boys won't be able to grow up with her but I bet they will never forget how loved she made them feel!

I am so proud of all the LE involved. I know it's been a while but sometimes it's the legal system that ties their hands until they have more!

Well I bet the Cox family is looking for an apartment as we speak. I think it is an unfair burden to put on the Susan's family I can't imagine they aren't doing everything in their power to be in a position of receiving those boys come Wednesday. It is going to be a tough five days for them and the boys. :(

Gag me Steve Powell I use to wish I could sing, now I wish you could....

I waited until the ripe old age of 23 to get married. :) What I can say is that looking at the girl I thought I was in love with at 20, I'm oh-so glad I didn't pull the trigger then. She's an absolute mess now!

I think Josh probably has redeeming qualities. It's just that they get completely drowned by the irredeemable ones. I wish Susan could do it over again, with the benefit of hindsight. She deserved more than she got in life. I strongly believe in an eternity with second chances. I like to think that she and Josh will be on diverging paths in the eternities.

This is all so true. People change the most from the age of 20 to 28. My sister also married a young man who had very good qualities -- and a couple dark ones. Over the years, I have watched the dark part of my brother-in-law take over and the good parts he used to have are totally gone. Thankfully, he's not so crazy and they are getting an amicable divorce. But I feel for the ones like Susan who married someone potentially dangerous. At that young age, we tend to only focus on the good parts of a guy, sadly, to our detriment sometimes.

So he has to pay the full $200,000 and not a %?

I wondered why the cops didnt call them in advance of this arrest and give them the opportunity to take the children instead of placing them in foster care first. Those poor children have been through enough. I have seen this done in cases in Texas.

What is this about moving and relocating? Link?

I know this is totally off topic but how I wish something like this would happen with

Kyron's case !!!!

I am wondering about the process. A poster wayyyy up thread who does fostering for extreme cases said it may be a long time before they can be completely placed with family members due to the interview process.( just paraphrasing) In the back of my mind all day I've been wondering what they could possibly remember from 2 years ago given their ages at the time? I'm sure they have been interviewed in the past correct? But in the last two years surely they have been brainwashed and swayed in their thinking. I'm sure a good child psychiatrist will be able to determine if they had any knowledge (or worse) of the evils of SP. As a lay person I want them to be with family ASAP, but is that really what they will do?

I found the post look on next page

What a fine Friday. They took out the head of the compound and stopped the cash flow into it and got the innocent out.

A fine, fine Friday.

OMG, I just read the article about the arrest. What an animal!

I hope I can answer a few of your questions. We have fostered in 3 different States and in all three we were licensed as a"therapeutic foster home" much more training is involved and there is a ton of daily paperwork to be done for each child as well as weekly or monthly team meetings with Psychologist, Caseworker, Social Worker, Foster parent's, and CASA worker for the child/children. As the child/children progressed the target biological or adoptive parents were included in the team meeting in preparation for transitioning into new placement.
In high profile cases or publicized cases it was imperative that we not take the child/children out in public and that we make arraignments with the school for a "no release of information" and "no outings." The school was also required to call the Caseworker or LE if anyone other than the foster parent attempted to check the child out of school or pick the child up from school. Once we even had a child transported to and from school by the caseworker herself.
One placement for us was a 6 year old who had witnessed the murder of his mother just hours before he arrived at our home. He came in the door talking and I think he talked for the entire 8 weeks he was with us. Everything was very detailed, the blood, the boom of the gun, him telling us how he was screaming and screaming, and how Jimmy (not real name) was telling him to shut up, shut up, just shut the *advertiser censored* up. His story was repeated over and over and over again and over time it got bigger and bigger and bigger. But the important documentation was during the first two weeks before his story started getting bigger, that's the documentation that sent his mother's murderer to prison....well, that along with the gun, the fingerprints, the DNA of his step father.
After 8 weeks our lil' guy went to live with his Aunt and Uncle who later adopted him.
I should also mention that this case occurred outside of our County and the child was specifically placed outside the County where the crime occurred, which is normally the case. We also lived in a very rural area so that made our home one of the more preferred homes for higher profile or high risk cases. I suspect this will be the same with Susan's boys, in a rural setting, in a therapeutic foster home somewhere in Washington State. I believe in therapeutic foster home, they are the absolute best because the providers are required to adhere very stringent training and jump through a lot of hoops that basic foster homes are not required to adhere to. They are very well trained and they do the job right or they don't keep their license. I'm very confident that Susan's boys will be well cared for and that they will eventually be placed with biological family.

here it is,,,worth bumping IMO

It's possible the children will feel more secure away from the Powells' emotional chaotic environment. In my state, there are foster parents who handle only emergency placements and they are highly trained, compassionate people. So are the social workers. These children will be well cared for during these next days, of that I have no doubt.
