The way she kept repeating she had been sleeping reminds me of MC saying that and of RC's constant "I was at work"

One of the things that initially bugged the cr** out of me was the way that Ron blamed Misty. & not for doing something to hurt Haleigh, but for letting her get 'stole'. I would think a normal reaction would be, 'what happened', or 'what did YOU do". He's the adult, those were his children, they were his responsibility, & it was his job to keep them safe & unstolen. What exactly, did he expect this not so bright teen to do? Fight off kidnappers? Shoot them? If the report was true that he mentioned Jo in the 911, & if the reports of the gun fight were true, & if the reports of drug use were true, then why did he leave those kids alone with a teenager? Why weren't they with GGS? If he suspected Joe, then he knew he left his kids in a dangerous situation, & shouldn't have been blaming Misty for getting his kid stole. He should've been blaming himself.
anyway, whatever happened to Haleigh, from this call, I see that Ron doesn't blame Misty directly. & that's not normal @ all. normal would've been him suspecting her, so HIM making that call. so I have to conclude that Ron knew that Misty didn't directly, hurt Haleigh.

Couples who lose their children to legitimate accidents frequently end up divorced because even though they *know* logically that it is not the partners fault that the accident happened they still blame each other for the pain they are in.

It is not normal at all that Ron isn't furious with Misty, or that he didn't at least go through a phase of being mad or wanting to just be as far away from her as possible. Ron doesn't seem that emotionally mature to me to just hop on over to acceptance.

I was shocked how horrible the 911 call really was. I knew it was bad, but wow.

Okay, another polite one who just woke up. Guilty or not guilty?

Guilty- much more focused on explaining how she could have left on her own then being focused on getting help ASAP and finding the child. (I recognize the call, but it is very interesting to see again).

BBM: RC's initial reaction is with regard to HaLeigh being "stole". I've wondered if Ron had been threatened with an abduction and that this was the reason that he, Misty, and the children slept together in the same room.

That said, I was puzzled by TN's insistence in her interview/tour with NG's producer that "the bedroom door was always open". Seems to me that if Ron was afraid that someone was going to "steal" one of his children, the bedroom door would be closed and locked when the family was asleep. jmo

It's just the first two lines and I've already used up all my red flags.

911: “911, what’s your emergency”
All right, so we're expecting the caller to state their business quickly and urgently, because, well, it's an emergency.

Misty Croslin: “Hi… Hi, I'm a polite girl and take the time to greet the 911 operator nicely before stating my emergency

umm… wait a sec, I forgot, what was my emergency supposed to be again

I just woke up… Right, now I remember. I can't sleep. That's urgent, right?

and our backdoor was wide open It is cold and the door being open increases our heating bill. Please, can you help?

and I think…That's usually a good thing that people think but when I do it's an emergency

and I can’t find our daughter” And by the way, I don't know if it's important or not but we have a child missing...
I always look forward to reading your posts, because I think you have a very open, logical mind. So, thanks for sharing.

When my daughter was about 5, we were all swimming in a friend's pool. She walked to the top of a ladder, turned around, & fell-landing on the concrete, forehead 1st. Well, my reaction was instant. I was hysterical, crying, & blaming myself-for letting her climb the ladder, for not watching her better. In other words, I felt guilty. When we got to the ER, I said, 'I'm so sorry', so many times, that the nurse asked my daughter to explain in her own words, what happened. She told me that my reaction was normal, but she had to be sure. Ron never blamed himself. Misty never blamed herself. There were no hysterics, just a lot of removing themselves from blame. Both of them. He was at work. She was asleep. Maybe fathers think differently than moms, & Misty ws just the babysitter, but she did refer to Haleigh as 'our' daughter. so with that, & him not correcting her, I see them sharing 'something'. That makes me think that they were in on something together.

Hi there....thank you for taking the time to transcribe that I know how tedious it can be.

I just wanted to mention that since we are revisiting the 911 call we should also note that Ronald Cummings can be heard hollering for Haleigh in the very beginning of the tape before Misty Croslin speaks.

I listened to a less redacted tape (CNN tape highly redacted) and that holler in the beginning isn't there and neither is the dispatcher saying, "911. What's your emergency?", but the holler "Haleigh" (only one) and the dispatcher are there on the CNN version. So when we first heard the call, we didn't hear the holler. Everyone was saying, "How did we miss that?". That's how. We definitely need to hear the uncut original version to get all the clues. Although I have to say, what we have, is loaded with them.

What's your emergency? "I just woke up."

I can't understand why the cops didn't take an airplane to get there for that emergency.

Yes aksleuth I agree, was Misty asking for immediate assistance? or just reporting some random missing kid? her 911 call was so monotone, even-paced and emotionless, (cause she wuz sleepin? SURE!) and her huh? duh? factor... it's almost like she wasn't answering the questions or even yelling out to get Ron toget the correct information/answer... in order to give herself more time to think. She was so disconnected from the whole situation. And not once did we ever hear her question herself if any of it was her fault...
she had already decided it was not.

911 what's your emergency?
Misty- uhhh Iii wuz asleep....
Our 5 yr old daughter is missing....huh?- duh/!
how about ...

911 what's your emergency?
OMG COME QUICK! I have a 5 yr old missing... it's all my fault I was asleeep and I woke up and she's gone! OMG Ron, this is all my fault I am so sorry! I wasn't paying attention I fell asleep...

but that's just me...

The first thing I would have done is ask JR what happened to Sissy, does he know where she is...

That's another mystery. Where was the boy when the call was being made? Where was he when the police arrived? While he is mentioned in the initial police report, he isn't mentioned by name and not referenced as being there at that time. He's mentioned by Misty in her statement. There are things blacked out, but I don't know. It's a puzzle.

I'm thinking Misty and Jr are both blacked out of the report because they were minors?

Right before RC hangs up the first time, it sounds like what I think is a doorbell? Anyone else hear it and does it sound like a doorbell to you?
Not long after that LE was going around the neighborhood, looking for a certain type of doorbell?
I have a link if I'm allowed to post it here?
Besides all the other red flags, the doorbell was the one that seemed to bother me the most, for some reason.

The one and only time I ever had to call 911, I was in such a panic, I kept asking the op how long till help arrived. That's why I even noticed it in the first place, couldn't understand why on earth he would hang up on the op?

Misty is listed in the report by name. There's one blacked out space where a person would be listed, that could be little Butterbean, but he is mentioned in the third person in the write up, not by name, only as one of the "children", "the brother", that sort of thing.

From the referenced article in the first post:
"The caller demanded an immediate response from medical personnel. This contrasted with callers who patiently and politely used such words as please and thank you or calmly took their time, beginning their call with the casual word hi."

Patient, polite callers who start off with "hi" are usually in the guilty percentage, they say.

Our Misty was batting 1000 with her 911 call. Hi, um...I just woke up

Oops!

Yep! She established an alibi before reporting the crime!

Others have mentioned what they think is a doorbell. I listened, I do hear a ring or a noise a bit different than the 911 beeps (ouch!) but I can't swear it's a doorbell. Maybe the doorbell rang at about the time a beep occurred? I do think there was someone else in the house, not the little brother, but someone RC is speaking with, somewhat sharply at times. It sounds like a female voice. Others say they hear it, while some say they don't. It's only during the call the dispatched made back to them, not in the first call.

I do recall something about a doorbell in the neighborhood which always confused me. I didn't understand the connection.

Most people calling for help are impatient for help to arrive. Not only did he hang up, but he did it TWICE.

I heard a doorbell and then 911 was disconnected from the call. It depends on which version you listen to. The version I listened to the min. counted up... others count down.

3:32 the doorbell rings so someone showed up they hang up on 911 and 911 calls them back they answer at 4:22

I'm listening to the 911 call in the thread was there a third person...

I heard the noise that everyone thinks is a doorbell on the 911 call. Could it be a ringtone on a cell phone?

I listened to two versions of this before going to bed the other night, several times, and all I could hear before falling asleep was "Huh?" and "my f'ing daughter". Just what I wanted, Misty and Ron screaming in my head.

About that ringing. Could it have been noises from the touch-tone buttons on his phone? He seemed to have a bit of trouble hanging up? If one presses the buttons, the tones do sound. Whatever it is, it makes three tones. Not the same beep as the 911 beeps, though. Maybe the doorbell plus a phone button? Then a slight pause, and another beep that sounds like the 911 beeps.

In reading that article and comparing it to their 911 call, I don't see how these two weren't cuffed immediately and brought to the gallows! They hit every point, including the "huh-factor", impatience with details about the victim (Ron), and they definitely got in about themselves. I knew it was bad, but after reading that article, holy moly! If that call were a football field, it would be covered with red flags. :behindbar
