I've always had a problem how quickly he reported Allison missing.

They always do this, it's a dead giveaway. If my partner was missing in the morning I'd assume they'd gone out or were deliberately getting to me, in this case there was good reason to assume Allison 'disappeared' for the day to punish Gerard and that should have been his first thought.

Hey, mum, dad, can you come over and help me get the kids ready for school, Allison is off making a point somewhere.

Nigel says Allison phoned his wife one day and said she wanted to see her. Elaine went over. #badenclay

Nigel: Gerard and Allison were very private, asked them not to visit without calling first. #badenclay

According to NBC Allison and GBC were very private but then he says that Allison confided in EBC about her depression!

Bwana, couldn't remember a lot of things but he was precise about the time that GBC phoned him on the Friday morning.

Sit on your hands. Sit on your hands.

who does Nige think he's kidding? let's take a look here.. Alison is working at century 21, where Nige 'puts up signs' ,... why is she working there? because Gerard had to fire Toni from the position, because Alison found out he was bonking her all around Brookfield in the car, and Alison also stepped up and took that job..

Nige and Elaine were at the office when all this went down.. not quite 7months before ALisons murder!...

Nigel says he would see his three granddaughters at least once a week. #badenclay

Nigel Baden-Clay: "(I am) very close to my son and I loved Allison like a daughter-in-law"; "They were a very private couple." #badenclay

"Like a daughter in law" she was your daughter in law

3:56pm: Nigel Baden-Clay corrected Crown prosecutor Todd Fuller's pronunciation of his son's name.

"Slight correction, we christened him Gerard," the senior Baden-Clay said, pronouncing the name Ger-red.

4:09pm: The senior Baden-Clay said Gerard called him on the morning of April 20, 2012.

"He said, 'Dad I don't want to alarm you, but have you seen Allison?'" Mr Baden-Clay Snr told the court.

Mr Baden-Clay Snr said his son was trying to remain calm, but was obviously anxious.

"He didn't want to alarm us, but he alarmed us."

4:15pm:

4:15pm: Mr Baden-Clay Snr said he was very close to his son Gerard and loved Allison.

"To me, they seemed to be a happily married couple," he said.

Nigel Baden-Clay Snr was with his wife Elaine, daughter Olivia and Olivia's three young children on the morning Gerard rang.

The group was in the Baden-Clays' study talking via Skype with their son in Canada, whose baby had been born the night before.

4:20pm: Mr Baden-Clay Snr said he was not aware of Allison's depression until about four or five years into his son's marriage.

He repeated that the couple was very private.

"Fairly early in their marriage, Elaine and I were asked not to come to visit them without phoning first and we interpreted that as they wished to have their privacy. They didn't readily share with us any aspects of their marriage," he told the court.

"We respected their privacy and we respected that's how they wanted to live their lives."

4:21pm: Mr Baden-Clay Snr is now being cross-examined by his son's defence counsel Michael Byrne QC.

4:27pm: Mr Byrne is questioning Nigel Baden-Clay about his movements on the afternoon of April 19, 2012.

He said his three granddaughters were at his house that afternoon and had been for a swim in their pool.

"I remember Gerard dropping in the sausages early in the afternoon," he said.

Mr Baden-Clay Snr said Mr Baden-Clay returned about 5pm.

"I asked him [Gerard] where Allison was and he said no, she wouldn't be coming," he said.

The family had a "fairly short" dinner together.

Mr Baden-Clay Snr said Mr Baden-Clay left with his daughters "fairly early" about 6.30pm because "he would have wanted to get them to bed".

4:31pm: The court has adjourned for the day, bringing the first week of the trial to an end.

Due to the expected length of the trial, the court will not sit on Fridays.

Nigel Baden-Clay will return to the witness box on Monday morning.

Hang on, didn't Toni contact Gerard on the Thursday to speak about e conference but not beforehand?

Yep, it was the Thursday afternoon, the 19 April. Allison and GBC allegedly went for coffee on Wednesday night, the 18 April.

BINGO. Gotcha! Where did GBC go after he dropped in the sausages? We've been led to believe that he stayed at his parent's place for the BBQ. Can I hazard a guess and say GBC went to visit TM?[/QUOTE

Yep Id say GBC dropped the snags and ran...:moo:

The girl said she had dinner at her grandmother’s the night before and was picked up by her father. She said her mother opened the door when they arrived back home.

you are correct and I am incorrect on the conference thing and the rest...I realised just then that Nige was on about the Wednesday... not the Thursday.. ...

but the selling of the business, and the leaving of Alison, he told Toni he was going to tell her that night, the night she was murderered... along with the conference thingy stuff..

Many thanks to everyone contributing on the Court proceedings. I have followed the case from afar and continue to pray for justice for poor Alison and also for her children. To have their mother taken from them like that is a wicked, wicked, wicked crime and I only hope that Gerard faces punishment in this life and the next.

Nigel says Allison broke down in tears and said she was suffering from some illness and needed help. Elaine sent Allison to their GP.

Nigel says Allison was sent to a specialist psychiatrist. He doesn't remember who. #badenclay

That ! Once again aiming for the suicide angle. :banghead:

Is this as in GerARD instead of GERard? :p

Frankly, I have no idea why this hinting at suicide is gonna help their boy Gerard.. someone still had to transport Alisons body to the Kholo Bridge... and Gerard has said he isn't guilty of that, either..

That ! Once again aiming for the suicide angle. :banghead:

Nige doesn't refer to the possibility that his daughter in law might have been driven into deep depression by his son imagining he was the <modsnip> of Southern Qld.

The more neighbours they interview, the more confusion/doubt builds ... different times, different sounds, ambiguous directions. The prosecution should have picked their two strongest neighbour witnesses and left it at that. The fact that the kids (apparently) slept soundly and say they heard nothing has already damaged this whole area of evidence. Just leave it and move on.

Also, Trooper, I don't personally feel that GBC was a true ladies' man. The affair with TM was a slow-burn development and once he'd done it, once he'd broken his marriage vows (the ones his parents used to teach other couples about on retreats) and become a person he hadn't been before (ie an adulterer), it was like flipping the lid off a can of shaken soft drink. The seal was broken. Lies become a way of life. Anything is possible. But trust me (;)), he was no ladies' man in the true sense before the affair. MOO.

From the Morcombe case I am under the impression they need to include this kind of eye witness testimony for future appeals. If they can build a case that can withstand conflicting eyewitness evidence the jury's decision is more likely to be upheld. Eyewitness testimony is known to be pretty shaky, so the different times and sounds are par for the course.

Folks I realise there's a lot to be angry about but please keep the derogatory name calling out of the discussions!

What's the correct way to pronounce it, ger-red or ger-ARD? because I wanna be sure I'm saying/thinking it wrong.

Nigel says they often found the house in semi darkness, Allison lying on the couch. "That was the sort of manifestation we did experience."

Nigel: We were always welcome in their home. #badenclay

Manifestation??? WTF? I am so furious with this man.... I knew he was going to carry on like a <modsnip>!
