When JM asks her to. It works to his benefit that she is arbitrary, combative and evasive. But it is frustrating.

I don't think she has the upper hand at all. Everyone knows she's a liar, what doubt is there? The judge can do whatever she wants. I suspect the jury's minds are for the most part made up
