I'm not sure what I would like to see done to it. But, I do know this:

I have been to the memorial site. It is unbelievably close to that elementary school. Those children, when outside on the track area, have a clear view of that site. How horrible must it be for them to see that overgrown, murky, swampy area every day as a reminder of the horrible things that can happen to children? Their memories of that area (that they see EVERY day) is of police, medical examiner's vehicles, helicopters, media, etc. I would love to have that image erased from their minds (as much as possible) and replaced with something happier...maybe a small playground with picnic tables where loving moms (and dads) can take their kids after school for a quick snack and playdate. Even just gutting it and replacing it with wildflowers that don't need much maintenance would be better than what it is now. Those kids need something happy to look at while they are outside playing. JMO.

Or even just bulldoze it, fill it and plant grass or wild flowers and let it go. Just so that it's not the dark, swampy, eerie, scary place that it looks to be. If left to grow back, it will be the neighborhood scary spot where that "little girl was dumped" I understand MK's aversion to the place that his DD was found and I'm sure he wouldn't want to see it memorialized since, for him, it is a place of sorrow. The ones who would be most adversely effected by a something being put there are the A's and truth be known, I really don't care how it effects them. If I had my way, I would buy the house right across the street from them and paint the outside with a mural of Caylee and the following saying...

"Lying may not be a crime but it is a sin"

"Stand for justice, not a lying murderer"

I want them to see that every day of their lives! They chose to back a lying murderer instead of standing up for truth and justice for a innocent 2 year old.

Shame on them.

Maybe you could work something out with one of their neighbors? Just an idea....

Something positive. Maybe a small help center of some sort. Where new mother's can get help whether it's advice about being a young mom, or counseling. Or better yet, a low cost babysitting service?

I'm thinking something very low key. Buy it (anyone), clear it, fill it, plant it with butterfly bushes and all sorts of greenery that attract butterflies. In the middle ~ one huge giant tree with a beautiful heart carved in its trunk. No mention of Caylee; everyone who needs to will know it's for her. Let the homeowners' association take its upkeep on as their project towards healing the community.

I think he should stick a few video cams in tall trees that collect data 24/7 to make certain nothing like that every happens again.

So instead of a memorial to honor Caylee, you think the lot should be turned into a place of public punishment and public humiliation for the grandparents Caylee loved so much?

Something's not right with that, IMO.

SNIPPED: "... You know, though, I actually thought Leonard wanting to buy the property was a good idea to make it a park or whatever. However, I then heard MarK Klass say how he despises the piece of property where is daughter, Polly was found. He only went there once, I think is what he said and he wish it didn't even exist.

So, I now have to say, I agree with him. Just let it go back to nature, the way it was and leave it be. I don't have much sympathy for the Anthony's but I certainly wouldn't want to drive by that piece of property every day and it being a park and knowing MY grand daughter was thrown there like trash1 It just doesn't seem like somewhere I would want people to be enjoying themselves. It seems wrong now that I listened to him. My heart just breaks for him everytime he talks about Polly. I can not even imagine the pain. And I doubt ANY time heals THAT kind of loss.
After listening to Mark Klass, I have changed my mind. I first voted "if LP buys the property, I think he should turn it into a park or memorial." Listening to MK drove home the point that the place the body is deposited is not "holy ground." It is the site of a great tragedy, and best not memorialized.

If LP had NO CONNECTION to the case, if he was just a buyer off the street, and he bought the property to establish a park, that would be OK. In Mark's experience, those who insinuate themselves into a family's pain often have some sort of WRONG, MISPLACED, INAPPROPRIATE "ownership" of the murdered child that is offensive to the child's remaining family. Following Mark's reasoning, LP's attempt is misplaced and offensive. And Mark, having walked in the shoes of the parent of a murdered child, knows much more than most of us will ever know about how that feels.

I now hope that LP does not buy the property.

And if he does, that he does not attempt to use the property to establish any sort of "memorial."

Regarding Mark K's comments and how, if at all, they are relevant to ME in terms of what I'd like to see happen to the property for sale on Suburban, though I cannot understand the how's or why's of Mark K.'s, the father of Polly K, feelings, because I have not walked (and hope never to walk) in his shoes, I do have great respect for them.

Unfortunately, I do not have the same respect for Caylee's mother, Casey, nor her grandparents, Cindy and George and, therefore, I'm not concerned with how they feel about someone who might want to build a playground on this property the same way I'd be concerned about how a completely innocent parent such as Mark K. would feel.

Buy it and build that playground, Leonard! I'd prefer if it not bear any mention of Caylee - we'd all know who you did it for! :blowkiss:

I'm curious. Are you a resident of the neighborhood? If not, why would you encourage someone to put something in a neighborhood neither of you live in when the residents there don't want it?

Not trying to be snarky Chilly but that is what this thread is all about!
The title is:
"The memorial site is up for sale. If LP buys it What should he do with it?"

I think it's a little weird of Pa-DILL-ah to want to buy that land.

Also, he can't just do anything he chooses right there. There are ordinances and zoning.

He insinuated himself in this in a strange way imo anyway; and now this land purchase notion is just more weirdness.

That is what I'm discussing. What should he do with it? I think he should leave it alone. The people of Orlando, who actually live there, can make their own decisions. They don't need a stranger who lives almost 3,000 miles away to inflict something on them that they don't want.

I agree with Chilly Willy. The current residents have probably not had an easy time of it whether it be from traffic, looky-loos, parking, loitering, media circus -- not to mention possible property value issues that may be applicable (or maybe not - IDK.)

Well, I did. You said: The ones who would be most adversely effected by a something being put there are the A's and truth be known, I really don't care how it effects them. You seem to want to hurt the Anthony's. You don't care if they are adversely effected. You acknowledge that turning the location of Polly Klass's body into a memorial would be hurtful to Mark, because it is a place of sorrow. But your feelings for the Anthony's seem to preclude the fact that this child has living relatives who LOVED her----relatives beyond the Anthony's themselves. Isn't it just as wrong to hurt THEM? That place is a place of sorrow for the innocent relatives who loved this child.

I NEVER think it's ok to be vindictive or whatever it would take to want to buy a property solely to punish and humiliate people you've never met. But that's just me.

Why shouldn't he? Happens all the time, foreign investors. AIFK, there is no restriction on the sale of the land that the owners be locals. Good for Leonard for wanting to do something noble in the name of Caylee!:clap::clap:

i personally would like to see a playground built. maybe one of the big wooden kinds...calling it " CAYLEE'S CASTLE'. fitting for the princess she was.

I have to agree that a playground would be better than a memorial - I would love to see big wooden climbing features, swings and monkey bars. A bubbler for thirsty kids, wood chips, and seats in various areas for parents/babysitters. No real memorial but maybe a small discrete plaque - I would hope that the area would be filled with the sounds of children laughing and giggling and fun times for adults as well.

There are a number of people from other states looking at it, so it is not about "the people of Orlando", but anyone who comes up with the cash. If it bothers them, then let them put up the money and buy it.

Why should anyone have a say if they don't put their money where their "mouth" might be.

I was thinking about this last night and recall that Cindy wanted to plant a tree and have some sort of memorial for Caylee aside from the one she televised. That would be the perfect place to plant a tree in honor of Caylee. To bad Padilla and Cindy can't mend their relationship and work together on this and plant the tree right there. That would be something that would mean a lot to the family and since Padilla wants to donate it back to county once he buys it I don't see the harm. JMO
