SCSO: William McCloud’s ankle monitor used to track movements; tips still encouraged in search for Evelyn
  • Seabolt said after receiving hundreds of tips, some have helped investigators in gaining more information, but many have just been rumors.
  • He also said that after two weeks, investigators are closer to discovering the truth, but more information is needed.
  • Seabolt said “There is someone that knows about this case and we urge them to come forward.”
  • As of Thursday, the sheriff’s office is still using December 10 or 11 as the last credible sighting of Evelyn.

During his extradition hearing in Wilkes county McCloud claimed that Megan gave her mother, Angela, the car and had told them the car was paid.

"We want them to focus on helping us find Evelyn," she says. "It does not matter what one family member said as opposed to what another family member said we just need information about Evelyn."

TBI: ‘We aren’t any closer to determining where Evelyn is at this point’

Earhart told News Channel 11 the TBI at least has more information than they did at the start of the investigation two weeks ago.

“However, I can say that so far, we aren’t any closer to determining where Evelyn is at this point,” she said.

... the TBI’s tip count is currently hovering at 880. Earhart said these tips have come in from around the United States. The TBI has also had to review surveillance footage from dozens of locations.

“Some family members have been more cooperative than others,” Earhart said. “But we maintain that since the beginning, we’ve received a number of conflicting statements, and that has made this investigation very difficult.”

William McCloud appeared in court. A WJHL crew caught him on camera trying to talk to Angela Boswell, Evelyn's grandmother, and he appeared to be blowing kisses at someone.

McCloud was arraigned for theft of property and was released, though a judge denied his bond reduction request. He was required to wear an ankle monitor as a condition of his release.

He was set to appear in court again on March 24.

AMBER Alert: Evelyn Mae Boswell

“This evening, as part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Evelyn Mae Boswell, and acting on new information developed in the case, TBI Agents and Detectives with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office searched a property belonging to a family member of Evelyn’s mother, Megan Boswell, in the 500 block of Muddy Creek Road in Blountville. During the search, investigators discovered human remains believed to be those of the missing 15-month-old girl. The remains will be sent for an autopsy and a positive identification.

The TBI, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, and the FBI would like to thank the public for their support during the two-week AMBER Alert search for Evelyn Boswell.

The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.”

TBI: Remains believed to be of Evelyn Boswell found at family member’s home
According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, investigators searched the home of a family member in the 500 block of Muddy Creek Road on Friday evening after receiving new information in the case.

The sheriff’s office says the property belongs to a family member of Evelyn’s mother, Megan Boswell. Tommy Boswell Sr., Evelyn’s grandfather, lives at the home.

I am just tuning into this case after I saw her remains were discovered. (Preoccupied for several months with the JD case.) Can anyone give me a brief run down of the timeline of the events. This is so sad.

Human remains believed to be missing Sullivan County toddler Evelyn Boswell found, TBI says

The remains will be sent for an autopsy and official identification, the TBI confirmed.

"I want to thank the community for their outpouring of love, support and prayers for the last 17 days," Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said at a brief news conference Friday evening.

Authorities did not offer further details about the discovery Friday, nor did they publicly name a suspect in the child's apparent death. Sullivan County District Attorney General Barry Staubus stressed "there's a lot of work to be done forensically" and said they are in the beginning stages of the investigation.
