Evelyn Boswell's Death and Disappearance Still Shrouded in Mystery 2 Years Later | Inside Edition
It has been two long years since a Tennessee toddler named Evelyn Boswell was reported missing by her grandfather, who told authorities he had not seen the child for months and feared for her safety.

On Feb. 19, 2020, an Amber Alert was issued for the 15-month-old with big blue eyes and blonde hair that was frequently pulled back with a bow. But it was already too late. Days later, her tiny body was found hidden in her grandfather's shed, accompanied by her toys, clothing and diapers.

[...]

Because the case is now filed under seal, law enforcement and trial participants are prohibited from discussing evidence that has been submitted to the court.

But there are thousands of photos and documents connected with the case, according to court proceedings. Prosecutors have said they've turned over 87,000 images, 57 hours of video footage, 18 hours of audio footage, 28,000 text messages, and more than 24,000 pages of social media to the defense.

The trial judge is expected to rule in April on the defense's motion for a change of venue.

Megan Boswell's murder trial is scheduled to begin on Sept. 26, nearly three years since Evelyn's grandfather says he last saw the little girl.

Had she lived, Evelyn Mae Boswell would have turned 4 on Nov. 21.

I think we’ll be seeing much longer wait times for trials everywhere due to the massive amounts of digital evidence nowadays. I hope this case stays on track to make it to trial this year.

This is going to be a heartbreaking trial.

In response, Sproles filed a motion to preserve the defendant’s objections to the state’s evidence.

“The images of where the child’s body was recovered and the images of the child’s autopsy are heartbreaking,” Sproles said. “Our position is that any person who sees those images is going to have an emotional response and we don’t want that emotional response to influence their judgment and their logical thinking about the evidence presented in the case.”

Along with thousands of images, the massive amount of discovery includes videos, audio files, text messages, and social media.

“There are thousands of images here involving this case some of which are very graphic, very disturbing and my thinking is the state will want to present as much of those as they can and we want to limit the amount of those images the state can show to the jury,” Sproles said.

Motion filed to allow photos of Evelyn Boswell's remains to be admitted in trial | WCYB
[...]

Here is part of what the motion states:

"The photographs the State seeks to introduce, to be filed separately and which have been provided to the defense, are relevant to the elements of deliberation and premeditation, and their probative value outweighs the inflammatory nature of the photographs. The photographs are clear and accurate, and testimony alone would be inadequate to relate to the jury the facts illustrated by the photographs."

The next hearing in the case is set for April 7.

The trial has been scheduled for September 26.

This is starting to freak me out. When she was arrested, I thought it had to be some freak accident. But by the route this seems to be taking and the constant mention of "disturbing pictures", I don't think the accident theory is making much sense these days.

SULLIVAN COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Megan Boswell, the Sullivan County woman accused of killing her 15-month-old daughter, Evelyn Boswell appeared in court for a motions hearing Thursday. The two major items discussed were the questionnaire that will be presented to a jury pool for the upcoming trial and a motion to split Boswell’s charges into two separate trials.

News Channel 11 had a crew in the courtroom for the hearing. You can watch the hearing in its entirety above.

Megan Boswell said she knew daughter was dead before the body was discovered, investigator says

Megan Boswell, accused in 2020 of killing her 15-month-old daughter, admitted to a state investigator she knew her daughter was dead but denied responsibility.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Special Agent David Gratz testified Thursday in court that Boswell told him Evelyn died after her boyfriend rolled over onto the child while they were sleeping.

That testimony was the first time evidence has been presented in the case against Boswell in which she admitted to having knowledge of Evelyn's death prior to the discovery of the toddler's body.
...
Gratz also testified about previously unreleased information that Evelyn's body was discovered in an old playhouse that was originally built for Boswell to play in when she was a child.

Megan -- just stop. Stop the lying and blaming others. Your boyfriend did not roll over Evelyn in his sleep and kill her. Your momma didn't take her away from you. And an unknown party did not take her away to give her a better life. End this charade, today. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. -- the game is over.

Enough. :(

Defense attorney Brad Sproles wants severance for false reporting charges, which would mean separate trials for the more serious charges, including murder.

The prosecution called a special agent with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to the stand to discuss the false reporting charges.

No rulings on any motions were made Thursday.

Boswell's next court appearance was set for June 24. There is also a hearing scheduled for July 28.

Here is a timeline of the case:

Have the clocks changed (gone forward) in Sullivan County please? I'm trying to work out UK time for hearing to start. Thank you.
Yes @altojack -- the States typically revert to standard time about a week prior to UK time change. (Always had to remind dad when I was at Univ so he wouldn't phone as usual on Sunday morning and wake my housemates)! :)

4/7/22 Megan Boswell told police Evelyn was dead a week before remains found, agent says

[..]

New details surrounding the case emerged Thursday when the special agent revealed that Boswell told police a week and three days before Evelyn’s remains were found that she was aware the child was dead.

[..]

“We found the remains inside of a building that was referred to by the family as the playhouse,” Gratz said at Thursday’s court hearing. “It was out behind what I would call a storage building on the property, and this playhouse was built by the defendant Megan’s grandfather as a playhouse for her when she was a child.”

The TBI continues to wait on test results from evidence collected at the scene. Gratz revealed that the TBI collected nearly a terabyte of digital evidence surrounding the case, including texts and direct messages.

First, the story was that Evelyn's father took her, which he clearly didn't because he was in the Military and most likely living on base. Then, it was her mother. Then, it was her boyfriend that rolled over Evelyn but her boyfriend never even met Evelyn. Enough is enough.
