Rather then confuse and have people duplicating work, (since it seems multiple people are now working on them), can we agree to go with Nursebeeme's map as the official map? (If that's okay with you Nurse?)

I am trying to understand why GB and JB let AM hang out. Let's go back in time and picture this.

JB has a two year old (Adrienne) and her marriage to MJ is falling apart. They split and shortly thereafter she realizes she is pregnant. She is still only 18 years old.

(In the meantime, it is *possible* that maybe she had a one-night stand with AM, who is 22, or dated him briefly, where he might think she was pregnant with his child. Don't explode, NG! However, since he lives with his parents and has no job, she doesn't feel like he would be a good life partner. She has kids to think about. This part may never have happened -- she may have only met him later.)

Perhaps she meets GB through AM? Regardless, GB, who is 49 at the time, is very interested in her. She feels secure and loved, and her fears for how she will take care of the two babies evaporate in his presence. He says he will raise them as his own. By the time Alexandria is one year old, they are married. GB adopts the two little ones and gives them his last name.

GB also has a child, an 11-year-old daughter, whose uncle is AM. AM has already been hanging out with the 11yo her whole life. The 11yo and the two tots play together and AM hangs out with all of them, which seems normal and is a help to the very young mom. She can run to the store or do some gardening while Am plays with the kids.

As the years go by, they hang out with AM all the time and it seems fine. But over time, as JB matures and realizes that AM is a smelly, weird, controlling, obssessive mama's boy, she begins to become uncomfortable with him and his influence on her daughters. Maybe she hears rumors or sees signs that he is not innocent in his feelings for the girls. But GB's daughter grew up with him, and GB has known him since AM was 10, and they don't want to offend him. They are only too happy to move to AZ for the girls asthma and to get away from him.

When they live in AZ for a while, AM realizes he has nobody left to play with and idolize him. He doesn't like it at all. Plus he has always harbored a secret belief or fantasy that Alexandria was his from that (real or imagined) one-night fling he had with JB. So when they return to TN, he tells them he wants to move to AZ, too. They realize they finally have to tell him they really don't think he should be around the girls as much as he is, it's confusing for them or whatever. This shocks and angers AM and his plan is hatched.

ETA: Everything I see about JB tells me she was an awesome woman, doting mom, loving wife... that's why I need to understand how she let this creepy guy be around her kids.

I think that it is a good theory. The only hole is that I don't see how GB could have thought that she ran off with AM for a minute if they were telling him to keep his distance. I am not sure how much bonding AM could have done with the girls if the Bain's lived in AZ for so long. I am curious if JB and GB moved to Arizona before she gave birth and AM didn't know about the second kid until they returned. Then the rest of the connection and separation could have fit in with your theory.

I've been looking at photos on FB on JB's families pages, and came across MJ the father of 14 yr old AB and 12 yr old AB, I believe he is the father of 12 yr old AB, she has the same light blue eyes as MJ and shaped face.

RE: The trailer

I was looking over the affidavits again. This is a direct quote from it:

"When TBI requested an interview with Mayes, Mayes took flight and has not yet been located. In the process of searching for Mayes, it was discovered that Mayes had rented a trailer in Union County, Mississippi. A search of that trailer disclosed property of the 2 girls that have disappeared."

So, it could mean one of two things - an actual mobile home/trailer that he rented (which kind of makes sense given his plan), or an automobile trailer (which depending on what vehicle TM was using would be cumbersome to attach).

MOO is that it was an actual mobile home. He "helped" them pack that night and snagged a bunch of the girls' things to bring them "home" with him. I think he thought the focus would be on finding Jo Ann, not him, as he abandoned the car.

Interesting she went grocery shopping at walmart then goes missing
also interesting they didnt find any groceries in her car! (that they reported)

Now did she disappear before shopping or after?

Just caught my attention!

According to reports she was caught on Walmart Camera at 9:30 pm leaving the store and that was the last anyone saw her.

Thank you for this article. I have been wondering why we haven't heard from any relatives from JB's side of the family.

BBM I don't know what to make of that.

The cousin doesn't know AM but thinks there was an intimate relationship at one time. I'd like to know why she thought it. It keeps coming up.

Beaten in the garage...how did hubby sleep through that? Did they have neighbors? Dogs?

JB facebook page shows they had dogs. They may not be alive now though.

She said in a number of interviews TM started posting and texting on Thursday, that's when she talked to her and TM told what happened. BB said she told TM to call LE and by Saturday she didn't think she had, so BB called LE herself. She said she found out they already knew.

I know! UGH. Even 30 minutes sounds too long to me.

LE knows when she called, and the media interviews show what she said when.

Did I mention that I hate FB? It's waaaaay too hard/time-consuming to find anything, especially after the fact, and it's design is definitely not suitable for sleuthing.

Btw, it appears that TM's FB has been taken down.

I was able to figure out that the police first spoke with Mayes on April 29, two days after the abduction and the same day that they found the missing vehicle. Before then, they may have thought mom just took the kids and left.

I was also able to figure out that it wasn't until two days after Mayes had fled that his wife spoke with her sister, Bobbi. And Bobbi (sigh...grumble) didn't call police right away. Instead, she told Teresa to call. But Teresa didn't call. So Bobbi finally called them two days later. By then, they had already found the bodies.

I also have a date for Bain's marriage to Adam's sister. I'm still looking for the date of that divorce. And I'm still confused about whether Adam and Teresa were ever divorced. It sounds like she fled to her mom's house once two years ago. But, somehow, she returned to Adam.

All reports are saying TM is the wife of AM. They have corrected the first erroneous reports calling her the ex.

Your description of your family pretty much describes mine as well. If you want a decent life, you get away from the crazies in it. Plain and simple, you get out however you can, and you don't look back either!

AMEN! Those that stay and wallow in it, well, there's no telling how far out of touch with reality they can get, after all... they probably think their family was normal! ewwwww

For nearly two weeks, Jo Ann Bain's family has been waiting, wondering, and worrying.

"Keep us in your heart and know that we appreciate and covet your prayers and we'd like to thank you personally and we do want our family back," says Bain's cousin Vicki Mahan.

Mahan says her cousin never made it to a hair appointment on Friday, April 27.

She says her kids never got off the bus that day.

That's when Jo Ann's husband Gary Bain called Jo Ann's mother in Henderson Tennessee.

"And his comment to my cousin was 'So y'all haven't seen them?' How was he put it, 'I don't think they were kidnapped.' And from there the feelings became more foreboding," Mahan says.

Mahan says she didn't know Adam Mayes.

"At one time, there was a relationship, a brief relationship between him and my cousin Joann. Yes I do believe they had an intimate relationship at one time," she continues.

Mahan says authorities told the family that Jo Ann Bain and her oldest daughter, Adrienne, had been beaten inside a garage near the Whiteville home.

He didn't hear anything and apparently he and his adult daughter are really late sleepers who weren't surprised that JB et al were long gone when they woke up? I've had an uneasy feeling too about GB. We don't have a lot of info but the info we do is a little off. It may straighten out later but he is still on my radar. Moo

That's what caught my eye too. The "Beaten" part. The garage appeared to be quite a distance from the main house (detached)... but still. So horrifying to think someone could sleep through a violent act happening close by like that.

I've often thought how horrible it must be for neighbors when someone is murdered next door or in the apartment above and they never knew a thing was wrong. Happens hundreds, if not thousands, of times a year. Creepy.

Thursday, April 26, 10:33 p.m.: Adrienne Bain says on Twitter that she feels like crying. Theories range from sadness about moving away to something traumatic that occurred on April 26.

Friday, April 27, approximately 1 a.m.: Gary Bain goes to sleep.

Friday, April 27, afternoon: Gary Bain discovers that his family is not home after his girls do not return home from school on the bus, and he calls the police. A local resident spots JoAnn Bain’s SUV parked on the side of the road.

Sunday, April 29: Police question Adam Mayes about the disappearance of the Bain women, but they release him.
Sunday, April 29: Jo Ann Bain’s abandoned vehicle is found in Hardeman County after a resident reports that it has been there since he first saw it on Friday afternoon.

Monday, April 30, afternoon: Adam Mayes shows up at a convenience store in Guntown, Miss. He has cut off his hair and died it a darker color.

Tuesday, May 1: Mayes last seen in Guntown, Miss., according to published reports; Police contact Mayes to interview him about misleading information and discover that he has fled.

Thursday, May 3: Teresa Mayes begins to call, text and Facebook with her sister, Bobbi Booth, with details related to the abduction, and Booth tells her to notify police. Teresa doesn’t tell the police anything.
