Both. Neither. Crazy but true, lol. It depends on when they went missing and what the circumstances were...even where they went missing. Some of these old cases that happened in smaller jurisdictions this may be their only cold case missing person, or one of maybe four or five. OTOH, enough people go missing in NYC every year that they just don't have the manpower to go back and get family DNA from all of their missing. Nowadays I think it's more likely that familial DNA will be taken, but it's still not a guarantee.

The family of the missing person can also take the initiative in getting DNA reference samples for their loved one.

I found a "cold case" email address for the Knox County sheriff's office. I just emailed them about both Anne and Barbara-sent the links for both as well as their NCIC case numbers. I am thinking about calling them on Monday just to make sure they received the email.

When I called the Knox County coroner's office on 3 separate days, ( Thursday, yesterday and today) the people who answered the phone in the coroner's office both days had NO idea what I was talking about. One told me they "had no unidentified dead people in their office right now". :banghead: They recommended I call the Knoxville PD. On second thought, maybe they have id'ed her in the last 2 days?

I looked at Alicia's info-definitely a possibility. My only concern is that Alicia's nose looks wider than SJD's by the nostril area. Are you going to submit her? I found another possible, but I cannot imagine she would be in SJD 's situation voluntarily. I can PM you privately with that MP name and links if it 's OK- I will explain why in the PM I don't want to post it openly at this point. If you think this person might be a likely "possible" then I would post it publicly.


BTW, do we know if SJD's earlobes were attached or not? I don't remember ever seeing that discussed and I didn't see that info on SJD Namus page.

I submitted Anne Lillian Riggin and Barbara Shumac, both missing since 1982 from Pennsylvania to the Knox Co. coroner's office as possible matches to SJD.
Both are listed in NAMUS as MPs, so hopefully it will be a fairly quick determination either way. Neither was on the 228 name ruleout list.

Just to keep everyone updated....

I checked SJD Namus UP 1567 page last night. It has now been updated to show 230 ruleouts, so 2 more names have been added as being ruled out. Not sure who, haven't had time to go through the list and see who's newly ruled out.
I did receive an email saying Barbara Shumac has been ruled out based on dentals, but her name is not on the ruleout list yet.

What do you think of this girl, Janet Knife missing from Missouri since Nov 1986. Here namus profile states that she was overdue to arrive in Georgia. Her vehicle and belongings were found in Fultondale AL...

Janet is listed as being 5'5 and 115 lbs when she went missing. It doesn't list really any physical/medical issues other than she has brown hair and glasses.

I figured it was worth a shot since she isn't listed on the ruleout list. Janet's case was just uploaded to NamUs on March 26th.

Very strong facial resemblance. SJD wasn't wearing glasses AFAIK, but that's probably neither here nor there.

There is no mention of the prior injuries or prior tattoo, or childbirth history; but I would still submit just to make sure.
