I already received an email back from Amy. They are still waiting on Janet Knife's DNA to come back. They are looking into the possible match.

I just looked in NamUs. Janet Knife is ruled out as being Shot gun Jane Doe.

Hi, I have been lurking on this thread for a while and I know it's a long shot but I was wondering whether Rose Lena Cole has been considered?

She disappeared back in 1972/73 when she was 15/16 years old, and so a lot of things could have happened between then and 1987; such as accidents, changing her hair color, losing weight etc.

Anyway, I didn't see her name among the list of exclusions and so I thought that it would be no harm in mentioning her as a possibility?

Rose's chin is very similar as well as her nose to the reconstruction pictures of SJD, and her photos look similar to the age regression pictures as well

Anyway, here is her case on the Charley Project website, what do you think?

Here is her NamUs; have to come back later as I have a full day. She has DNA in NamUs so will be an easy rule in/out

Great to hear that she has DNA in NamUs, it makes things a lot easier for sure.
I understand life can get busy, so whenever you get the free time-no worries.
Thanks so much.

Have we ever mentioned Regina Brown, missing March 1987 from CT as a possible match? She is not on the ruleout list.

Namus link: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/2018/0/

http://www.nampn.org/cases/brown_regina.html 4 separate pictures of her at the NAMPN link, plus a very detailed description of events surrounding her disappearance.

She was a flight attendant stationed in CT; that doesn't necessarily mean she was raised in CT. She could have been raised in one of the Southern states that Jane's isotope testing showed. Namus lists Ms. Brown as African-American.

I'm thinking maybe with the stress of being separated from her husband, she just decided to walk away and try to start over? She was scared of someone/something so she fled to start a new life? Would her dog be "barking wildly" at someone the dog recognized?

I heard back. Frances Crownover has been ruled out based on dental comparison with SJD dentals. Frances's name will be added to the Namus ruleout list in the near future.

OK guys, we found out something this morning from Amy Dobbs, the NAMUS rep, that is HUGE!!!!!!

SJD was isotope- retested in 2014. Originally, based on the first isotope tests done several years ago, it was believed she came from one of the following 13 Southern states:
Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, or Florida.

NEW TESTING SHOWS SJD was from one of the following states: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Maryland, West Virginia & Virginia.

Yesterday I had time here at work to look and see if I could find any missing girls that kind of fit the description of Shotgun Jane Doe. I narrowed it down to the states that Rainwater listed in her above post. I found this girl, Cynthia Schmidt missing from Minnesota. I sent the following email to Amy Dobbs at NamUS
Hi Amy,

I know you are wanting to find out who the UP #1567 is, (and so do I) and I didn’t see this girl, Cynthia Schmidt on the rule out list. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/12427/1/
https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/bca-divisions/administrative/Documents/SchmidtCynthia.pdf
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/schmidt_cynthia.html

Cynthia went missing in August 1986.. She had a fractured leg it states in her NamUS file, ( I believe the opposite legs, but I still thought it was worth checking) the age fits, but each site has a discrepancy in her height and eye color. NamUs states she is 5’5 and weighed 135lbs where the Charley Project said she was 5’10 and weighed 165. NamUS says her eye color is blue; Charley says they are brown.

I also see that Cynthia has DNA available, but I didn’t know if that would be a hit to the UP #1567 in the system.

Please let me know your thoughts. I figured I would submit since she hasn’t been identified yet.

She said she would check her out. I know it is a long shot, but 240 girls are already ruled out.

I am glad Amy Dobbs followed up on my email. Cynthia Schmidt is now on the rule out list for Shot gun Jane Doe. 241 rule outs. https://identifyus.org/en/cases/1567

I have read before that this Jane Doe was facially unrecognisable, but I was on her wiki page and it gave a link to a 'touched up/edited postmortem photo'. I didn't view it because I didn't know how graphic it was, but if her PM pic is availible that would be good.

Also so great news about the isotope analysis :)

Are you sure you're not thinking of "Knox County Jane Doe"--the redhead found inside a refrigerator in KY?

There is a PM photo of her at Namus. I don't think a PM photo of Shotgun JD has ever been released. Wiki and other sources only have an artist's rendering.

Can you provide a link to that touched up photo? :) thanks

I had a look just now but it seems to have been removed from wiki. It was under 'list of unidentified murder victims in the united states', under 'Tennessee' but it's gone now.

It was the same reconstruction that was posted earlier in this thread.

I have seen the photo of sgjd here before. I believe she was shot in the upper temple / forehead area and the spot is noticeably Photoshopped. most of her face is ok though.

Why are the states for isotope test totally different? If the results changed so drastically for this one, can it be presumed testing for other uids is also off by a lot?

also.. why isn't wisconsin included with these states? it's surrounded on all sides by listed ones...
