30th Anniversary Of Teen's Disappearance Marked

http://www.newschannel5.com/news/local-news/30th-anniversary-of-teens-disappearance-marked

Saturday marked the 30th anniversary of the disappearance of Martha Leanne Green who went missing on April 15, 1987 from White Bluff.

An age-progressed photo was created to show what Leanne would look like now.

A Florida inmate confessed to killing Leanne, but he was unable to recall just where he had buried her.

That inmate was murdered in prison, but he’s still considered a viable suspect.

I've just got to say this for all those who think Leanne was a runaway. I was a young (23 year old) working in Dickson at the time she disappeared. I worked with one of her close relatives and knew very closely the boy who was supposed to be her prom date later in that week. She did not run away. She had her dress and was excited about prom. She and her twin brother ran out of gas shortly after she finished working at the Holiday Inn. At that time, there was nothing but the Waffle House prior to a gas station right at the Holiday Inn site. It was verified that she had just finished her shift at the Holiday Inn. It was pouring down rain. Her brother left her in the car to run back and get some gas. (They had pulled into the parking lot of the Barn trinket shop). He got back within 15 minutes and she was gone with her purse still on seat. At that time there was a warning of someone with a badge pretending to be a policeman pulling people over, etc. It was thought that he (or someone she knew) came up to the door window and beckoned her to come out. She did and was promptly kidnapped. Maybe he(she) had a gun. We will never know. The man who was killed in prison that admitted to her murder (but could never lead police to her body) knew something very personal about her that he told to her mother. Both her parents believed he had committed the murder, but both died without ever actually knowing.

Leanne stayed with the car. When he returned, about 15 minutes later, his sister was missing. Her handbag and keys were on the car seat and there was no sign of a struggle.

Details of Disappearance
Martha's twin brother, Lawson Green, picked up from her hostess job at the Holiday Inn on April 15, 1987. They were driving back to their family's residence in White Bluff, Tennessee in a Monte Carlo with tinted windows that Lawson had borrowed, when the vehicle ran out of gas on Highway 46 near Fabric Road in Dickson County, Tennessee at approximately 9:00 p.m. This was about half a mile from the Holiday Inn. A photo of a similar car is posted with this case summary.

A family of four pulled in behind them and offered to help. Martha said she was scared and Lawson said she should come with him and the family so they could get gas, but she said she'd stay behind. Lawson left with the family to purchase fuel, leaving Martha alone in the car. He discovered she had vanished upon his return about ten to fifteen minutes later. Martha's handbag was still inside the vehicle, as were the keys. There was no sign of a struggle at the scene. She has never been seen again.

Authorities had a suspect in Martha's disappearance, Robert McKinley Richards. He was incarcerated in Florida on rape charges after she went missing. He took investigators to several places where he claimed he had buried Martha's body, but searches of those locations turned up no evidence.

Richards was subsequently murdered in prison and was never charged in Martha's case, but he is still considered the primary suspect in her disappearance. Martha's case remains unsolved.

I was wondering if Leeann disappearances had ever been shown as a re-enactment on a crime show. Well it was in the early 90s on a show called Missing: Reward which was similar to Unsolved Mysteries and America Most Wanted it featured Cash Rewards by the victims families for the recovery of missing people, Wanted Fugitives, solving unsolved murders etc it was hosted by Stacy Keach and lasted from 1989 to 1992 i was wondering if by chance anyone had this episode filmed or any episodes filmed on a VHS that they could upload to YouTube? I know there is already at least five segments from the show on YouTube those first two being for Missing people Michael Adams and the Vosseler children but there were some unsolved murders as well and one full episode also uploaded i tried reaching out to the people uploaded them but no response.

Anyway if anyone has the episode with Leeann disappearances then please upload it i would greatly appreciate it and it might help in solving the case if someone on YouTube saw it.

More on the show.

2. A missing Dickson teen. A murder confession. Decades later, closure sought in Green case.

Also from the Tennessean about the picture below

A reenactment in Dickson of the night of Leanne Green's disappearance for a television show, Missing Reward that aired 1989 to 1992. The reenactment was at the same spot with "rain" supplied by the Dickson Police Department.
