I do think, though, that it makes a difference whether ET thinks she's going along willingly, or whether he's threatening her - because the dynamics of the relationship is going to affect how he treats her. If she is with him "willingly" then it's much more likely that he might send her into a store alone to pick up supplies rather than if his hold on her was limited to threats.A "happy" relationship would make it more likely that they'd be in public, or even that he'd take her somewhere to have fun, whereas if she's only staying due to fear, he'd probably want to isolate her and limit her chances to escape.
If TC thinks ET is completely willing, I think that puts her in a safer position for longer and will give her more opportunities to find a way to escape or get help.
I've seen that most of us understand that and also understand that no matter the circumstances, this wasn't a decision made on her own or based on truth.
