He knows his calls are taped, so whatever he is saying is the current story. He probably will get a court appointed attorney who will say the client has a mental condition....

Court this afternoon....?

Anyone else disgusted that interview is the main story on People?

Here to vent about the interview with TC's sister. Does he seriously think anyone would believe his lame excuse "she wanted to run away and I took her so she would be safe" and in the meantime, he refilled his Cialis, bought KY, slept in a queen size bed in motel rooms and "had loud sex" (according to the commune)! I can't believe he's blaming the victim - "she made me do it". Of course, ole Tad doesn't know that the world knows a lot of what he's done. He's probably thinking he can convince his sister to campaign on his behalf publically and to help him get his family back. He'd be better served to be repentant and keep his mouth shut.

I think Tad has his sister pegged as the one he can manipulate easiest. I suspect he figures once he gets her on his crazy train the rest of the dysfunctional family will buy tickets.

By her comment about his family (wife) not being there for him makes me think they have already approached JC and his daughters and hopefully were rebuffed. I think Tad is in full emotional vampire mode and rounding up all the pro-Tadders he can find.

It just baffles me how the sister can say that he was just going with her to keep her safe. It is the most absurd statement! It makes me think that Tad is not the only nutter in the bunch.

Agree with you!

It's absurd to think a married 50 year old man would runaway with a teenager to "keep her safe". Poor choice of words. Her coming out like this indicates to me that TC is going to fight this and not going to plead guilty and start serving his time. This is a message to ET and her family too, that he did this to protect her and make sure she was safe. All MOO

TC's "defense" is yet another reason that I hope and pray that his lawyer convinces him to plead guilty even if there's no plea deal on the table. Take whatever a judge gives you and start serving your time, Tad. There are ZERO mitigating circumstances plus it's very obvious that a trial will only serve to be a taxpayer funded re-living of the hell that Tad put his minor victim and her family through even prior to March 13, 2017. I strongly believe in due process for all and this can still take place even without a trial, IMO.

BBM: She was quoting TC, she never said anything about him being right, or innocent, as a matter of fact, she seems to know exactly what he has done wrong and that he will have to pay for his actions. She is his sister and is going to support him, that's just logical, but she's not giving him a free pass. IMO

No. I'm not. Absolutely not disgusted at all. It's about time to turn the lights on in this town and show the rest of the country what the Thomas family and ET herself was up against. This wasn't just a pedophile, and yes he's a pedophile and I could give a rat's patooty about "legal definitions" in regards to this term, who was preying on the students the school put in his classrooms like a stocked pond for a fisherman. <modsnip>. It's suddenly very clear why this led to an abduction and serial assault on a minor for 5 weeks. This was the end product of a long history of activity that was condoned, accepted and normalized. So I'm quite happy that this interview in on the cover because the rest of the world hasn't been conditioned by this idiot <modsnip> for decades and will see how this happened and will only further people's disgust toward this criminal.

Definitely. I think there is no way he will plea.

I suspect he comes from a life/family where he did no wrong. They are going to have to reconcile that. They are going to hear details that will turn their whole Tad-centric, codependent world upside down. I do feel much sympathy for his sister, but I also think she knew how ridiculous that was...and spouted it on national TV on his behalf, anyway. So...yeah. All JMO

Thinking TD is going to use ET's family and the dysfunction to justify his actions. No telling what fantastical circumstances he'll share. Sad thing is it's going to be his words against hers and this is just another abuse of her.

Can WS change the name on this thread to "Tad Cummins"?
No I cannot bring myself to name this thread after him - but I can redact the victim name to initials in the thread title right now. As the days progress it is my hope that more media will follow suit and then we will require her name be redacted to initials in member posts (including snips from articles which may still name her). A heads up, members redacting now in their posts will save me and others quite a bit of work later.

a million times, this^^^^

I understand the defense has a job to do, but how in the world anyone can spin driving a minor across the country and raping her as protection is just beyond me. It makes me nauseated. :(
Losing your job, your family and your freedom by "helping" someone ?
No, he "helped" himself by manipulating a child.
MOO

Exactly. She was merely quoting TC, not advocating for him. She struck me as very clear that he did a horrible thing and she was simply relating what he told her when she asked "Why." She realizes there will be consequences and isn't trying to mitigate them in any way. We also don't know what was edited out of the interview. I wish she had not agreed to be interviewed, but the media can be very persuasive. I don't see any reason to criticize her.
