Found Safe TN - MCET, 15, Abducted by Teacher, in Maury County, 13 March 2017 #17 *ARREST*

Tad Cummins is currently in Federal custody, facing Federal charges. He will be returned to TN to face said charges. The states of TN, & possibly CA may also decide to press charges against him.

I think (but may be wrong), that Federal takes precedence over state - for the moment, but he could be simultaneously indicted on state charges.

N.B.: I'm not entirely sure that Siskiyou county has charged him yet (as reported in the link), but I believe they are considering doing so (can't find that link right now)

At the time he left, he had been suspended from his teaching job for allegedly kissing MCET; I assume that's what he was referring to.

Maybe it was that and all the other contact going on in total. It's probably an open investigation and may never know.

How what rises to criminality? I think a kiss would be against school policy but is likely not illegal, unless it was a make-out type kiss (it was not reported to be that). But he was clearly being investigation for much more than that. First off because the kiss incident is clearly an indication that something worse is happening. It would give them probable cause to search his electronics, IMO. And they did. And then he grabbed her and ran.

The school had to report the kiss. That creates, IMO, probable cause to investigate whether he was doing something to her sexually.

I'm a woman staring 50 in the face and I see no reasonable doubt.
There is a limit to the # of pills insurance will cover per month and I don't see ANY man, that has a willing participant, taking it for any other reason than to have Intercourse.

incident that reportedly occurred between a teacher and student. The substance of the
information provided to the detective was that a student claimed to have witnessed

I would be interested in knowing who, if anyone, knew that the SRO informed LE about the reported kiss. According to the Maury County Schools timeline, they were notified by LE that Cummins was the subject of a criminal investigation on January 31, 2017. Does that mean that they were unaware that LE had been informed about the reported kiss or does it mean that Maury County Schools were aware that LE had been told it by the SRO but did not know if there would or would not be a criminal investigation until January 31?

Jan. 31, 2017: Maury County Schools administration was notified by law enforcement that Cummins was the subject of a criminal investigation. The district turned over all known information and documentation to law enforcement about the recent allegations against Cummins at Culleoka Unit School, which were also still under investigation by Maury County Schools.

Lots of coverage has been given to the fact that Elizabeth looked physically (as well as mentally, of course) fragile and had lost a significant amount of weight in the roughly 38 days they were on the loose. But what about Tad? I wonder if he lost a good bit of weight, too? His booking photo shows his great big head but that's all. I wish I knew his booking weight! No particular reason, just curious.
I also wonder how they spent $4500 in 38 days, or was there still some left over that Tad was marshaling while thinking over his next move? The news outlets talk about a "small craft" (boat) that they had supposedly sailed right up to Mexico but didn't land. Did Tad buy it or just rent it a couple of days? It would be so interesting to know an itemized list of expenses from Shoney's to the cabin where the rescue/arrest took place!

This is just one item of evidence, so I believe he will serve time. But in terms of.how the defense will try to explain away pieces of evidence I definately think they will say he didnt get the pills for ET. If he had been on it awhile, IMO they will press the point that he used it for marital relations. As a 50ish woman, this piece of evidence could be explained away. Some of the other evidence is stronger IMO. The statements of people at the commune. renting rooms with only one bed..TC introducing himself and ET as a married couple and his admission to his wife. I hope they have that on tape and can ise it at the trial. I wonder if he will be changing his plea in the future and/or trying to strike a deal.

I would lose my mind if a teacher kissed my daughter, whether it was full on make out or a peck. I'm not sure how it would be considered legal either. Just thinking out loud.

So this is just based on my personal experience working for a county advocacy center. That percentage is low for my area, IMO.

Family members, coaches, and teachers account for the vast majority of the victims we see. Most cases don't see the news.
