The sad thing is he wasn't hidden. They found him in a clearing right outside the perimeter they had been searching. They were doing a second search in that area. They expanded the search, as they had been doing, when they found him. If they hadn't found him then they were probably going to have to pull out because of weather conditions supposed to be coming in after midnight. I feel like it was going to be a while before the weather cleared up enough for them to go back in searching again. With that being said, I'm relieved they found him before they had to stop the search. They said it was weighing on them heavily that they might have to leave him out there until they could get back in. I'm sure it was breaking their hearts more and more as time was getting closer. It is amazing the amount of people this little boy has touched over the last week. Not just here in West Tn, or across the country, but in other countries as well. I hope seeing that helps his family in their grieving process.

I dont think we know whether he was hidden or not do we? Just because he was in a clearing doesnt mean he hadnt bundled himself up in branches/wee nook in the ground.

That was how I understood it from the news conference. I could have taken that wrong.

I'm still just devastated over the loss of Noah. We prayed for him be found and he was found, so a part of our prayers were answered. It did not turn out as we wanted, but at least he is not out in the elements any longer and I am thankful for that.

My heart goes out to all of Noah's family, and all of LE who gave it everything they had and more. I wouldn't even let myself watch the presser until much later, and even then it was hard to watch. Every time I woke up last night, I thought of poor baby Noah.

I so wish we could give people and animals a break. In every case where there is not a successful ending, accusations begin and most of it falls on the dogs. I shake my head every time because even though these dogs are trained, they are trained by imperfect humans. No one is perfect - no one. These dogs have no voice in whether they are loaded up to go search in extreme weather conditions or terrain. I've heard stories of the dogs having to be pulled back because they will try and try to the point their pads get raw. Lets please just give a little grace to everyone and everything.

For another baby Noah gone too soon:heartbeat:

I'm so sad for this family and really, the entire community. It was obvious to me the first responders did their very best to find Noah as quickly and efficiently as possible. It breaks my heart that despite their heroic efforts, really terrible events like this just sometime happen. This is a really sparsely populated community. I haven't heard any numbers of volunteers but I did see lines of people waiting to get checked in and they braved some really cold weather to search during night time poor conditions. There were searchers from other states that came in to help find Noah. They gave it 110%.
My heartfelt prayers go out to all who have been touched by the tragedy of losing an innocent child, especially his family- Mom, Dad, Sister and Grandmother and all of his family.
RIP sweet Noah. You were well-loved.

Last night I dreamt of Noah playing in the woods happily on a warm day. I truly hope he was happily playing til he tired out, lied down to take a nap and woke up in Heaven.

Morris, the family's pastor, described Noah as a “spider-monkey."

"He was just 100 mph with whatever he did," Morris said. "And I know this, and feel confident being able to share this, the mom just got through praying, ‘Jesus better have his ice skates on to keep up with him.’”

Noah, who loved running and hiding, had taken off while he was in the woods with his grandmother and his older sister.

On Wednesday, the search crews added a few hundred more acres to the more than 1,000 already searched.

This sweet little spider-monkey sure got us all didn't he? Super hard to let go of this one even though he's been found.

Allot of us kept thinking and saying Noah wasn't in the woods...........
dogs couldn't track............why did LE keep searching that area and no go in other directions?
Was the clearing ever offered to the SAR searchers or dogs?
I'm also curious why the heat sensors didn't work on the helicoptors.

Finding a small child -- or anyone -- in a large wooded area unfortunately isn't easy. And the outcome isn't always good even if they're found. The odds just weren't good with the weather immediately changing. I would be surprised if he survived beyond the second night in the cold. Rainn had better weather than Noah did and she probably wouldn't have survived much longer if she hadn't been found when she was. Children disappearing has always happened. The difference now is SM criticizing every move that's made. And starting rumors. The Sheriff isn't the first -- nor will he be the last -- to be frustrated by Facebook. But that's how things are.

Going back to the comment about the circle with the 10 mile circumference needing 3000 searchers at 15 feet. I would have driven from Canada to Tennessee to be part of that 3000 person group if it meant finding him that first afternoon.

Some possible answers:

He actually was in the woods, just in a clearing area, within the woods.
Dogs DID get a scent, but weren't able to track it directly to him. A ton of legit reasons why.
No question the searchers were in several different directions.
The area he was found was (according to the LE leading the investigation) at the very EDGE of the expanded search area - in an area they had not yet searched.
I can't recall which day the helicopters were used, but the most obvious answer is, they were looking in the wrong place.

I know a lot of people are frustrated and heartbroken he wasn't found in time but honestly, there's only so much folks can do. I think they (the searchers) did everything within human reason, to find this baby. I like this comment here, from someone who knows a thing or two about this kind of thing:

Edwin Grant from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children said he’s seen searches all over the nation, and this is one of the best searches he’s seen.

"On Wednesday, the search crews added a few hundred more acres to the more than 1,000 already searched."

This would not even get them remotely close to 1.5 miles from the point he was last seen.
