'Never give up': Rally keeps hope for missing residents alive

The raindrops that began falling as balloons were released at a rally for Bedford County's missing persons Sunday seemed perfectly appropriate.

Tears from heaven, one might say.

[snip]

None of Mook's relatives attended the rally -- they have since moved to other communities -- but Smelcer tearfully urged those present to continue the search for her as well.

Tyler Mook, Shelley Mook's ex-husband and the TBI's only person of interest in the case, lost his fight for custody of the couple's child.

The child custody case has been moved to Pennsylvania after Tyler Mook found another court to take the case.

Shelley Mook's mother accused Tyler Mook of judge shopping. She said he is trying to get away from the Tennessee judge who ruled against him.

Tyler Mook is listed as the main person of interest in his wife's disappearance and possible murder. Now, he's accused of attacking a different young mother.

Shelley Mook, a Bedford County teacher, is still missing. Her case remains unsolved.

Meanwhile, Tyler Mook has been living in Florida with his new girlfriend. Prosecutor Kevin Keele said the woman bears a striking resemblance to Tyler Mook's estranged wife.

"They are both similar in size and stature, both have blonde hair, similar appearance, both have blonde daughters for children," Keele said. "The resemblance is uncanny."

The ex-husband of a high profile missing woman in Tennessee has been arrested in Martin County for trying to kill his new girlfriend.

Martin County Sheriff's Office Detectives have arrested Tyler Mook.

Investigators say that on October 4, 2014, Mook tried to kill his girlfriend at the time by pushing her off of a boat and holding her underwater in an attempt to drown her.

Mook was originally arrested on domestic battery charges, but those charges are now upgraded to attempted first degree murder.
....

I hope someone in his family or close to him comes forward with information about Shelley now. Bring Shelley home! Bring justice for her. Thank goodness for his brother being there, doing the right thing, and saving this lucky girl!!! Can't change someone's spots!

Tyler Mook then swam back to the boat, where Gvajardo reported he told her: 'No one disrespects me in front of my family. I will kill her.'

Andrew Mook stayed in the water with Donech until others in a passing boat picked her up and took her to safety.
Donech, flagged down a police officer at Sandsprit Park on October 4 and stated her boyfriend tried to kill her.
Donech told police she believed he was trying to drown her and would have succeeded if his brother had not intervened.

Mook was originally arrested on domestic battery charges, but those charges are now upgraded to attempted first degree murder.

The Mooks' daughter is in the custody of Shelley Mooks' mother, Debra Sikora.
Sikora told a judge in a visitation hearing that Tyler Mook used the little girl to threaten her, reports WSMV.
In regards to Tyler Mook's attempted first-degree murder charge, Sikora released this statement:
'I want the hurt to stop for those that have and are still affected by the acts of one person. Strength be to those who will stand and have their voices heard. It is by those voices that justice will come.
'By those voices, healing can begin, closure can be sought and faith in others can be restored.'
Tyler Mook is now in the Martin County jail on a $100,000 bond.
