{compliments of WESH.COM}

Also compliments of WESH reporter:

At 9:24 George Anthony was just escorted in to the grand jury room along with his attorney Mark NeJame. Just before going inside, Anthony was visited in a conference room by an FBI agent and Prosecutor Jeff Ashton. Ashton is a veteran prosecutor who has tried many homicide cases over the years. He tried to first successful DNA case in Orange County two decades ago.

A nineteenth grand juror has also arrived. A man who appears to be in his late 20s or early 30s. That makes almost an even split of ten women and nine men. A court baliff explained to a member of the public trying to get inside that this is not an open proceeding.

State Attorney Lawson Lamar told us he would comment after the hearing was over.

A spokeswoman for the ninth judicial circuit says the grand jury’s findings will be read in open court after the jurors reach a decision. If an indictment is reached, the suspect would not be named if the person is not yet in custody.

Normally we would not know who is being considered for indictment in the GJ.
The intense media scrutiny in this case has unveiled that portion of the secrecy.
The indictment remains a secret till the subject/defendant is in custody on the theory that this lessens the chances of flight from the jurisdiction.

Welcome to WS!:blowkiss: The more the merrier.:)

Okay, thanks. That clears it up a little more for me. It sounds like people will be talking about the evidence that was presenting to the GJ maybe in a few days after KC is back in jail. I am just so curious about that shovel, I think it will be a huge part of evidence!

I posted my thoughts on this a few pages back. I believe GA was asked to testify to the gas cans/trunk incident. He has said KC did not want him anywhere near the car trunk.

and he was the last person to "see" Casey & Caylee together on 16 June

Eyewitness News learned NeJame attempted to get preferential treatment and avoid the security line visitors are required to go through at the courthouse. He was denied and the two of them were forced to stand in line.

An emotional George Anthony did make a short statement before entering the courthouse and asked that people stop at 11:00am and pray for his granddaughter, Caylee. It was unclear the significance of the time.

Something Wierd is going on.....Why 11am?

NG reported last night that a source said that LE expected the GJ to hand down a decision by the end of the day

I don't see how that is possible after only 1 days testimony unless they have some kind of "Smoking Gun" against Casey

Is GA that "Smoking Gun"?

notice the way GA is dressed? As if he has respect for the proceedings. Not like CA or KC who are always so casual.

Yes but he also said HE himself took the cans out of the trunk. So was that a lie?

I am almost possitive CA is upset that the GJ isnt calling her to tesify in this. This could be part of the reason for bashing the state attorney in her recent videos 10-13-08....MHO!

I cant believe I never thought of that!! I think you are right.

Cindy is spouting her mouth because she has no control and cant go into GJ and try to do any damage control..

You got it ! makes complete sense

From your lips to God's ear George :crossfingers:

My prayers are with George this morning. I think he will do what is right for Caylee..So far, he is the only Anthony I trust to stand up for Caylee. God Bless him for such a hard morning! :blowkiss:

*bolding is mine* I believe GA is indeed the smoking gun. I really do.

Can GA take the 5th or does he have to answer all the questions?

Does Baez get to be in there the whole time?

No Baez cannot be in there period. He has no client at today's proceedings.

George can invoke his 5th amendment privilege to remain silent only if they get into " territory" where he would be incriminating himself
.
He cannot invoke this right in order to avoid testifying against a friend or relative...:blowkiss:

George Anthony is there to testify against his daughter
9:37 a.m. Outside the courthouse, George Anthony's attorney Mark NeJame told reporters that his client is there to testify against Casey Anthony for consideration of homicide charges "concerning his beloved granddaughter Caylee Marie." "George is getting ready to do the unimaginable," NeJame said. Then George Anthony said that he loves his daughter, wife, and son and asked for prayers for Caylee and his family. "This is going to be very hard for me to do," George Anthony said

He is the only one that I slightly feel sorry for in this whole affair.

Me, too, Broderick...I like George, though he has his moments.

I completely agree. Cindy told him not to tell LE about Casey borrowing Cindy's car on July 25, and behind closed doors, he did the right thing and told them. He has morals. He also said several times in his LE interview "I have to tell you guys I didn't like that smell." He knew what it meant, and behind closed doors again, he let LE know he knew what it meant.

Personally, I don't think George is a bad guy. I think he's emotionally and verbally abused by Cindy. He's her punching bag. And I really hope he has a suitcase packed, and when he walks out of that grand jury room, he keeps on walking.

Couldn't have said it better BeanE and I didn't feel this way in the beginning. Maybe George WILL be the family member that stands up for Caylee and let the chips fall where they may.

George will be on my mind all morning - this truly has to be one of the hardest days of his life. I believe that he will be honest and tell the GJ all he knows, which very well might mean that he will incriminate his daughter and possibly his wife and son for their part in the disappearance of his beloved grandaughter. It is obvious that he loves Caylee very much, I just hope that he takes his appearance in front of the GJ to break away from the influence of Casey and Cindy and tell the truth. Deep inside George is a good man, I believe he will prove that today.

In the interview with ca yesterday did anyone else notice her head jerking back ...like a twitch or something? I saw it several times around the middle of the interview......looked like she couldn't control it

I think (however I am not positive) that CA takes medication for a back injury. Side effects can be twitching and involuntary body movements, particularly if her injury affects a nerve.

I think I like the FBI "visiting" with George. I think it was more than "Can I offer you a cup of coffee?"
They probably made clear the Feds are involved, aren't going anywhere, and telling the whole truth today would be a very good idea if George doesn't want to be in serious trouble with them.

That was her head attempting to spin around. I thought she controlled it very well

I noticed that too. I kind of got choked up. What a position for this man to be in. It takes me back to his interview when he was describing how quickly Caylee was learning to do things. "a sponge"......

Not sure if TM encourage George, but if he did, it's probably good advice. Will be more interesting down the road if, say George continues to have Nejame as his criminal defense attorney, and Cindy eventually retains a different attorney. Just waiting to see how things fall out. About not trusting lawyers, you got me there. It would be foolish for George to hop into the grand jury room without spending some time with an attorney who had refreshed his memory about his obligations, responsibilities, and possible consequences due to his testimony.

From NG 10/10 transcript....

Tim, I understand you had a meeting today involving the Anthony family. Tell us about it.

TIM MILLER, HEAD OF EQUUSEARCH, RESUMING SEARCH FOR MISSING TOT CAYLEE ANTHONY: You know, Mark is just an incredible man, an incredible attorney, I would only hope that the Anthonys would take advantage of what he has got to offer. He certainly -- our meeting lasted for three hours.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: What did you discuss, though?

MILLER: We discussed the possibility of what`s going to happen in the future. We discussed where -- you know, how our hearts are broken for the Anthony family. I mean they`re going through something they never chose to go through.

Mark`s actually gotten with the Never Give up Hope Foundation to help us fund a continued search. And, you know what, Mark is just an incredible man and has a lot of compassion for this family.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Yes, I understand that. But was there any news -- was there any news that came out of it?

MILLER: The news that came out of it was actually supposed to be meeting with the Anthony family and discuss future searches. You know, let them know that we`re not the enemy, we`re by their side.

And you know, I understand there`s a lot of emotions right now, and we hope maybe that meeting is going to happen tomorrow, so we can meet with George and Cindy and let them know what it looks like the future is going to bring to them.
