Vanilla Sky...when my dh and I left the movie theater, we were like . I even asked him "what the h*ll was that about?" We didn't have a clue and still don't.

But I still love his older stuff like Cocktail and Rainman. And the newest movie of his that I love is Collateral. He was awesome in that.

It's really sad to see what he's become. He's going to wind up like Michael Jackson, known for his freak ways than for his talent and that's just sad to me. But he did it to himself, he's too smart of a guy to have fallen for that cult .

lol, same here....we walked out & my girlfriend asked, "did you like that?"...i said "no, i dont think so  "
& Collateral rocks, IMO, too!...there's lots of them..Born on the 4th of July, & Magnolia, & of course Rainman...oh, & A Few Good Men...& last but not least MI  ..i was not a Top Gun fan, but i liked his first movie too
...i've seen all his movies at a theatre...he's good on a big screen (if that makes sense)...i can certainly understand why he's pullin in more money than others...well, was.....

it is sad to see what he's become....a joke

It is sad to see what is happening to him. I always thought he was a good actor, grew up with the biggest crush on him since Top Gun but I have no idea what is gotten into him, I think it is the scientology. Everyone has their right to believe what they want, like when he flipped on Matt he has a right to debate what he believes. But I think there is more to it, he just seems "out there". He seems very arrogant these days too. JMO

I wonder if the cult will have him tone it down? They can't have their prized cash cow being out of work or no longer a hot commodity.

If Tom doesn't get control of himself, he's going to find that his beloved church will also give him the boot. I think it's great that Paramount gave him the boot. It's about time these people understand that they can't do and say anything they feel like, and expect the general public to continue to fill their bank accounts.

So sorry, Tommy Boy...I hope Katie wakes up and smells the coffee.

Not being mean...but I think Tom does have some mental issues. I also think that the scientology issue has played into this for him. He could probably benefit from counseling and possibly meds. It's too bad...because he was someone that I used to love to watch. He does seem very arrogant...like the rest of us are somehow inferior to him because he's the "chosen one" and the rest of us are just chopped liver.

I too think something has happened to him. Maybe he has some issues because of his dad, his father was never around, I think I heard tom say that and TC seen him right before he died. That can cause some issues too. I dont know but I feel bad for katie, oops I mean kate.

Is it now Kate? I must have missed that. So is he calling her "Kate" now?

Yeah, something has definately gone on with him. Maybe he will get the help he needs, and things will work better for him. I just hope he does get help...because he seems like a train that is really about to derail.

It could very well be because of his Dad--His father was a strange looking person who supposedly knocked Tom around a bit while he was growing up--Cruise himself never hid his dislike for him, calling him a "bully"--That can affect anybody's persona, having a parent like that

Oh yes, its on the thread somewhere I will look. He calls her Kate now, I guess she has earned it since she carried his seed. I agree, his train is going crazy!

I agree, that does some psychological stuff to a person. It is really sad.

My thought last night, after watching Entertainment Tonight, was...he needs to counter this with some good PR - so I'm going to place my bet that we're finally going to see some Suri/happy family pics around now.

Then again, he may be in such a snit, he may go low on the radar for awhile. Hmmm, that wouldn't be such a bad thing :woohoo:

I dont believe the church will ever give him the boot--- too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Nothing will make Tom go low on the radar. I don't think he believes a word of the bad press he's received for the last 16 or so months. For every bad word the press is saying about him, he is surrounded by Scientologists and family that tell him how unbelievably wonderful he is. I get the impression while watching him, whether it's jumping up and down on a couch, screaming to his fans, or doing some off-the-wall daredevil stunt, that he thinks he's totally invincible. And everything he does is so exaggerated... whether it's smiling (and you can see his tonsils!), jumping, talking or again, doing those stunts. A crash is probably coming... whether it's mental or physical... but he can't sustain this energy and performance level forever.

Really, who gives a crap about seeing their baby? I couldn't be any more disinterested. I have a beautiful 8 month old niece who occupies my time.

I agree. It is just another baby. Shades of Michael Jackson. Those stupid veils over his children's faces or a blanket over the head. Who cares?

Don't get me wrong - I think Tom is as certifiable as most of you do. However, I think Mr. Redstone was being a bit hypocritical and melodramatic. If he has a problem with Tom's behavior - address it with him behind closed doors and with their lawyers present. No need to grandstand for the world to see. If Tom's actions are hurting the bottom line, then don't allow him to have such insane budget's for his movies. While the amount of $$$ he brings in may be decreasing, whether we agree with it or not, he is still a box office draw, although not to the exent he used to be. He still brings in a great deal of money both domestically and internationally, and money is usually the bottom line in Hollywood. I find it amusing that Hollywood will be quick to forgive Mel Gibson in light of his recent actions, but will shun Cruise for his beliefs (regardless of how ridiculous they are). I wouldn't count either Tom or Mel out just yet. Both will be back on their feet in no time.

Unfortunately, MasterJ, I agree. I've been reading extensively on this subject and most "powers that be" in Hollywood feel like Redstone acted inappropriately and may have even hurt his own movie studio. They also mention that Redstone (and/or Paramount) went ahead and signed the deal on WoW III after Tom's encounter with Matt Lauer and also after his Oprah jumping stunt. So if Redstone felt Tom's actions were so inappropriate that he couldn't condone them, they are asking why he sanctioned WoWIII. OTOH, I also think Cruise is totally nuts and I think he is destined to become even more nuts if the downward spiral he's exhibiting continues (and there's no reason to think it won't). I think he's a first-class sicko but I don't believe Redstone's reasons are why the recent decisions were made. There's more to the story, IMO.

Well, maybe after Tiny Tom's couch jumping episode and other things the powers that be at Paramount did sit him down and say look this just does not reflect good on you or us so tone it down a bit. And maybe with Tiny Tom being so arrogant he said f-u and amped it up even more and then they had no choice but to cut him loose. It's like when you stop rescuing someone and let them hit rock bottom so they can see how far they have sunk and what they stand to loose. JMO
