Farah said that soon, he started hearing that the offers to buy the video had turned into threats.

"There were phone calls coming in from people claiming to be ex-military, claiming to be a police officer, saying, 'Look, if you guys don't pass the video or find the video, we'll arrest you guys, or we'll have you guys executed or some crazy stuff like that,'" Farah told the fifth estate.

Nothing at all sinister or criminal about that right? :what: Okay then.

This has nothing to do with the fact that RF "made one mistake" in a "drunken stupor" and smoked some crack.

Sorry! This man can only get help if he (and only he) is seeks it himself..
He made his own bed. I don't feel sorry for the guy. Hope the good people get him out of office real quick!!! JMO

The entitlement of some of these elected officials is really wearing on me. Carlos Danger, anyone? And speaking as someone who has been there (not crack but pills, many years clean) this guy's semi-apology was too late and not sincere. IMO he is not ready to commit to treatment and is only putting out a mea culpa because that is what is expected of him.

Correct me if I'm wrong but does the article I posted upthread not say that RF was photographed in a known crack house frequented by crack heads, gang members and owned by people who have extensive criminal histories? And he was photographed with a man who was later shot and killed and two other men who have subsequently been arrested on drug and weapons related offences? Now I don't know if this is the same occasion where the smoking crack video was taken but WTH is the Mayor of Toronto doing associating with these people?

“The house belongs to a couple of crack heads but Dixon guys go there often to ‘chop’ crack or just hang out and get drunk,” the source is quoted as telling investigators in the recently released police report.

Some of the members of the Basso family, who live there, have lengthy criminal records, including for drug offences.

The police allegations also suggest the home is where a photo was taken showing Ford posing with Anthony Smith, who was later shot and killed, and two other men who were subsequently arrested and charged as part of Project Traveller.

Features of the house in the background of that photo match that of the Windsor Road home, police allege.

I think that is the real story here. Why was the Mayor of Toronto at this house in the first place? What are his connections that put him there? Was he there when the video was shot or was it some other crack house he was hanging at? And the police have every right to be investigating this IMO.

Illegal behavior that is ripe for an elected official to be blackmailed.

I wonder if Ford is a cokehead because he drinks so much, coke to "even out" his drunkenness so he can get through his day. JMO

Yes, it's a vicious cycle. You do one drug to bring down the effects of another drug. That's usually what causes overdoses, the combination of different drugs and/or pills.

This is cute, its a graphic showing a list of formal complaints against Rob Ford: http://torontoist.com/a-history-of-formal-complaints-against-rob-ford/

However, in search of something more current .. here are 42 remarkable moments in Rob Ford's career BEFORE this latest admission.

This guy is incredible, here's one that didn't make the list:

Oh and even funnier, listen to this and decide if you think Rob Ford actually called in to a radio show being hosted by Bill Carroll (who knows him) to defend himself:

Why can't our politicians be this out of control .. although I have high hopes for Clive Palmer :)

How can I put this delicately...what the heck is going on with him in the photo from the Star article?

And that radio call was hilarious! You could hear the inflection in his voice changing as he would fall out of character but then quickly try to regain his composure and talk as his alter ego "Ian." And I loved that when Bill called him out on it he quickly hung up! :floorlaugh: Smooooth!

His brother thinks this is a "witch hunt"? Really? For a family with the issues that this one has, and now his brother, as the Mayor of Toronto, has, he seems a little "entitled" IMO for lack of a better word.

The Mayor of the biggest city in the country has ties to known drugs and weapons dealers. He has been photographed and videotaped in their presence. He has consumed crack cocaine on at least one occasion with them. He has spent many hours on city time meeting with his "friend" who just also happens to be an alleged drug dealer and extortionist. They had discreet meetings in which packages were handed off. And bottles of alcohol were consumed, on city time. And then he drove off in his vehicle, obviously impaired. There is a long list of grievances about his behaviour piling up, that have nothing to do with this latest scandal, which was posted earlier in the thread.

A witch hunt? I don't think so. Just factual information being released about his behaviour during his term in office.

Apparently we're supposed to forget everything we've seen and read in the past week or so and give him a break?

Actually his insistence that he not step down from this job is making me even more skeptical of what he's been up to and what won't be accomplished if he has to leave office or what else might be uncovered before he has a chance to cover it up. Just don't trust the man, or his brother, anymore.

Mayor Rob Ford's office confirms that he will be holding a news conference at 4:30 p.m. CP24 will have LIVE coverage.

I'm watching CP24 right now. No conference yet.

CP24: Mohammad Khattak wants the video shown since he is in the video and he wants to use it for defense purposes. Judge is reserving decision on whether to release it. Also the second video is part of the video we already know about. There is no time stamp on the video since it was erased and later retrieved so not known when it was taken.

This info is not from the announced live press conference. No word about what is going on with that yet.

Yes, a tch late ... maybe he's having a tipple or two ;)

ETA: Just found this thread today but have been following it all in the news. As a former Ontarion/Torontonian .. I feel so badly for the good people of Toronto. This guy is one big pimple on the butt of Toronto, for sure.

I don't think there will be a press conference, only info about the bobbleheads LOL.
