I don't understand something crucial. When you send a text and it shows up in your phone records, is the phone number it came from recorded? Presumably, if the records showed the phone number, JA could have randomized the input so as to conceal her number. But if so, LE could simply have called the recorded numbers to verify that the "hooker" existed?

In retrospect, I stated the question incorrectly:

When you receive a text and it shows up in your phone records is the phone number it came from recorded?

and

When you send a text does the phone number show up in the receiver's record or somewhere in the phone? If Jodi used her own phone, it would be linked automatically to her "contact" on Travis' phone and would read "Jodi"?

Jodi would've had to use different phones for all these "girlfriends"?

Maybe she stole phones from customers at the Purple Plum? Or got Edgar to loan/steal her some?

That's actually more believable that she catfished him imo. What if she set up a meeting that no one showed up to? But he knew it was her, and he was just tired of playing her stupid games. Hence the "I know what you did. " It makes Jodi sicker imo.

Actually, I think setting up meeting that no one showed up to was exactly what she tried to do as Maria M. She apparently tried to lure him to Utah for a hookup. Travis told her ("Maria M") on the 21st that he hadn't actually gone to Utah.

Sick? Yah. The May stuff goes way way beyond even her tire slashing crazy in Mesa. What she's doing nonstop now feels like full blown unleashed psychopathic behavior.

JA had at least 3 phones, 2 Helios and the Motorola Razor. Were disposables readily available in 2008? And don't forget the possibility of Gus gifts of various kinds.

Hope, I can only echo what others have said- amazing amount of effort on your part- just amazing! Thank you SO much! I've been away (busy w/ RL stuff), so I need to do more catching up, but a shadow-like picture is trying to break through my brain fog...can't quite put it in perspective yet, but without your tireless work, I'd be blank.
Highest kudos & much gratitude...

ETA: Also, thanks to everyone else for your feedback & perspectives. Your contributions are beyond helpful & thought-provoking...

I wonder why Utah? He had his own home. Logically, why would a guy hooking up, I guess secretly hook up anywhere besides at his own home? At that point, Travis seemed to have financial troubles, so to me, paying for a hotel room in Utah seems frivolous. I know he liked to travel and did so for work, but that just seems like a random hookup would distract him and/or well get him caught by his Mormon friends.

Look again at the last few lines exchanged. About what he says he'll tell his roomies, lights being out in his room, etc.

It sounds to me like they did meet up, but I'm not positive. The entire exchange feels very off and wrong and disturbing.

ETA. Read exchange for 4th time.

Mysterious lady who doesn't know him is on her way over, asking directions. Shortly beforehand TA tells her- you think I don't know what's going on and tells her that he does know, he just hasnt figured it all out yet.

She arrives I think, and leaves, they text a bit, last text is at 11:48pm.

At 12:03 AM (15 minutes later) TA texts the killer: how dare you?

Doesn't it sound like she hired a hooker to entrap him???

Wow. As a BK outsider, based on what you summarized ... Yes, it sounds as if "someone" tried to entrap him with for-pay sex. {Repeated requests for a present?} Unless he "entrapped" himself. {Sorry. TA was a generous, caring man. But, apparently, he was also a man with more overt sexual experiences than his Mormon peers.)

The "how dare you," text to JA is telling.

Any other phone calls/texts/emails that might explain that?

:)

Let us know when your picture comes into focus. Mine is more a kaleidoscope, each handful of new pieces keeps changing what I thought I "knew."

These May texts are the most chilling of anything I've read in this case over the past few years. For whatever reason, I can literally sense her malignant twisted self in the words I'm reading.

I don't believe TA knowingly hooked up with a prostitute. As far as explanatory texts, nope. There was just that one to the killer immediately after mystery lady left, and then the hotly denied accusation later in the day that she was using multiple phony accounts to access his LDS link up account.

BTW, Maria M was on LDS link up.

The sense I get from her mid-May manipulations is that she is enjoying toying with him. It is so so sick. He doesn't want anything to do with her sexually (or much of anything else), so she accesses him by proxy, pretending to be other women.

*My response between stars (can't figure out how to change text color)- an more apt analogy than mine; I can relate to this better than my attempt to describe my thoughts/mental images. Gracias!*

*From what's been posted, I agree totally. Evil exudes from not just her words, but her very essence (I'd say soul, but not sure she has one- essence is still too pleasant). Someone mention downloading all the texts. Do you think that would be helpful? I'm frankly still unsure of the parameters in re: BK's site, so not sure what, if anything I'm not able to read. Thanks for any help offered!*

When are the earlier texts? Another day? My computer is so incredibly slow that it took an hour to download texts from May 13. :(

Jodi must have infected your computer....:gaah:

JA had at least 3 phones, 2 Helios and the Motorola Razor. Were disposables readily available in 2008? And don't forget the possibility of Gus gifts of various kinds.

This was apparently a lot of pseudonyms though. She must have been able to hide her number or trick the phone into generating fake numbers? Presumably, LE could have followed up all this information.

ALV had access to all these texts? She "read behind the words" in all these to come up with the story of TA as a domestic violence perp? She's some kind of sick....

It wasn't the killer. He texts her 15 minutes after mystery lady leaves. Not to mention, no way would he have let the killer in the door after she pretended to be another woman for over 12-14 straight hours, including fake pics.

Maybe there is no connection, but it is only a few days later that Travis and Gus are at a PPL event together and Travis catches Gus texting the killer non-stop...

Say 'wah'? Please tell what you can.

... This is why I'm still here. TA accuses JA of using multiple phony accounts to access his LDS link up account.

Do tell.

Anyone with access to BK, could you please look closely at the very long running text exchange Travis had on May 13 and I think on into the 14th with an unnamed woman (means she wasn't in his address book).

What do you think is going on? Did she actually end up at his house?

Their conversation is amazingly WEIRD on her part. If she did go to his house it obviously wasn't the killer, but otherwise I'd swear it was. Whoever she was it sounded very much to me like she was trying to get him to put many "incriminating" things in writing, and putting some serious pressure on him to do so.

Among other things.....asking him how many gf's he had, why he wasn't married, did he want to be married, and saying what she did about looking like a 12 year old girl??????

I had such a creepy feeling reading that whole exchange, a feeling I haven't had reading any other of the texts. I'm thinking - is it possible the killer hired someone (a hooker) to entrap him??

Even Travis the trusting seemed to get suspicious off and on, even saying at one point- how do I know you're not just trying to get me to say something incriminating?

Wow... wtf.. wow, that sounds like her pathological mind.. I just got creeped out reading that...

Wow, I mean psychotics do aggravate their patterns, you don't get your tires slashed twice and not fear something far more serious. She harassed him, all of which I thought was 'bad' enough, by use of texts/emails/social media, and aggravated to physical acts of stalking (him/dates), and causing financial disruptions in his life.

This May stuff is much darker and sounds more in line with her Borderline and psychopathy. Her body language, lack of, and those eyes in court and during the interrogations; she brushes off boundaries (so of course, you figure she is concealing something more than others can guess).

The extent to TA's psychological abuse, is astounding. Seriously, this is terrifying sh**. He must have suppressed it, because his communication to her doesn't cover the magnitude of how violated/terrified one would/should feel. He was an object for her to possess/destroy.

People said she was prostituting (to keep her prospects, phones, highlights etc?). This fits, she would do anything to destroy a human being.

burner phones were available in '08.

the day travis txted with the 'mystery woman' did jodi talk to him at all too?
did this person actually go into his house? was it a 'friend' of jodis?

maria m. very imaginative jodi, maybe you have marie (mimi) hall on the brain too much when u come up with ur aliases?

That "how dare you" was obviously a standing joke with Travis -- it is scattered throughout his texts with other people as well as Jodi. Someone would text him that they were heading off to work, for example, and he would reply "how dare you." I don't think in this instance it means anything.
