trial day 38: the defense continues its case in chief #110

Since we are now doing math here, a bit early I might add but that is assuming she eats all her 2600 calories which I might add are not typical of 2600 calories, IT IS JAIL FOOD, she probably does not eat everything, seriously this has got to be taking a toll on her. Her breakfast is split in TWO and that is all she has from possibly 3 am til 6 pm when she gets back to jail. she has probably missed the supper time meal and a tray is saved for her but is cold and cold goulash probably really sucks so she may not eat much if anything at night.

This trial has been going on for a while, it has to be really difficult all the transferring from jail to court and the meal situation, I can easily understand a migraine or two.

There meals are served between 6 and 7. Court is over about 4:30. All the prisoners who were in court that day ride back to the jail. I do not think she gets a cold meal. She does not eat at 3am. They get her up between 4 and 5 and she is at the courthouse by 7am and she is served her breakfast there. She eats her lunch at noontime. Dinner between 6 and 7. That is a normal eating schedule for everyone.

The bread looks like a small round loaf and it appears to be multi-grain which would account for some of those calories. It's baked fresh daily and NG said it was good. Same with the peanut butter which does not appear to be too oily. NG said that was good, too. Three pieces of fresh fruit a day. I don't even eat that. Jodi is not getting her favorites and outside the jail she may think someone will feel sorry for her and get her something different. Not going to happen. But the good news is it was reported that the prison food is much better, more variety I guess than the jail. People aren't suppose to be in jail for 5 years awaiting trial. jmo

There have been many, many times I don't even get a chance to go to the bathroom and getting out of at the end of a 12 hour shift is a good day. For those of us in the medical profession if someone came in and demanded their day end on the dot when their twelve hours were up and expected a hour and a half lunch break :what:, after we were done:floorlaugh: we would :seeya:

I know what you mean. Bathroom breaks are very hard to get. I can't count the number of times during the day that I say I'm going to run to the bathroom, but never get there. Thank goodness I'm not prone to UTI's!!

Wanted to respond to your other post about the NG tube as well. I say they just insert a PEG tube and give her meds and nutrition through that. Since she wants to manipulate people and gain power by forcing others to show up for nothing, this should solve the problem. If not, I'll volunteer to give her the needle and end it for her right now. It would sure save taxpayers a lot of money!

Okay, now I'm really going to pull myself away. You folks are so much fun to chat with and I'm really enjoying reading everything. It makes it difficult to stop.

I think the point most are trying to make though is that she is given more than enough calories, given her size and activity level. Whether or not she likes what she is given and eats it is on her.

IMO the jail food is probably no worse, if not better than the crap a lot of people who are not in jail use to fuel their body. It might not be as tasteful, but it is most likely better in terms of sufficient protein/carbs/fats than chugging back Starbucks Strawberry fraps.

If she killed in self defense there was no need to be so brutal and then once the threat was gone, there was no need to blatantly deny killing him or being at his home!!!! I do wish she wasn't even allowed to talk about married couples or couples with kids only because I don't want her to connect with a jury member that may relate. If her lawyers really believe that she is not getting enough calories or that they are not spread out evenly then they can make a request for additional snacks during the day and it would probably be granted. They don't because she doesn't really have migraines. It's just strategy.

If she really needs more food then give it to her. More protein, more carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, sugary snacks, juice. I don't care as long as the trial continues and we have closing statements soon!

She can order up to $40.00 a week of food at the commissary. She does not have to be there to order, just fill out a form (similar to menu you get at a hospital). That, too, she would be able to bring with her. Jodi can buy her own Snicker's bar. jmo

The point isn't the calories, it's the amount of time between eating. Some have rightly pointed out that they work 12 hr. shifts without eating. I don't think their employers are treating them ethically either. Some have said she should divide up her breakfast and bring it with her. I don't see how she's going to carry three pieces of fruit with her while being transported shackled to two other inmates. I don't ask my dog to go 12 hours without eating. She may be lower than a dog but I am not. Let her have a freaking bologna sandwich and be done with it!

What do you make of this circus of a trial? Is this the normal course of events in trials in AZ? I mean the schedule, and the way it's dragging on. Are the courts that backed up and overworked there? Is it because of the media and public attention? Shouldn't they have been prepared for that?

I just don't understand how the DT can keep dragging this out the way they are. Do you see any issues with how the judge is handling it? JBP didn't stand for any of the carp these two attorneys are pulling here. Obvious stalling tactics and endless objections. I am interested to hear what your thoughts are on that.

This is very normal for a death penalty case. The criminal court in Maricopa County is extremely overworked, yes.

The judge could be tougher for sure. IMO she doesn't want to be overturned on appeal on her first death penalty case.

That was my point yesterday as well. This has been going on in Maricopa County Sheriff Joe took over in the 90s. There hasn't been one case overturned due to the schedule and feeding, or they wouldnt continue to do it. She doesn't deserve special treatment.

Marcia Clark was a TH on one of the HLN shows last night... the topic was whether Judge Stephens has lost control of the court.. Clark felt that Stephens appears to be afraid of being overturned.. beyond the norm.. and has let some things go a little too far.

Here is one problem I have with Ms. LaViolette - she made a big deal about how important it was to listen to both sides of a story. She states she learns much more about the true story if she can speak with each side independently. With that in mind, we know beyond all doubt she did not get Travis' side of this story. She will have a questionable audio recording, some text messages and emails, that's it, all complimented by liar Arias' input.

JMO - this situation alone goes against her methods, and in my mind invalidates much of her opinion. Hopefully JM will hammer her on her own words used to describe how she gets to the bottom line, because in this case, it is simply impossible for her to do so.
