Nel: Our courts value human life.

Vergeer: Absolutely Milady.

Now he's talking about the Tatane (sp) case law.

He says if a member of society would look at this case: "A person, this accused, armed himself, caused a horrible death. Don't you think that society would to punish him ...and to ensure people are more careful in the future."

Vergeer tries to equivocate: "it's not the society that should decide punishment but the court for society."

Please, pwease let it not be left to people like her to decide...*facepalm into the abyss* *theatre of cruelty* *sigh*

If she says "honourable court" one more time I'll hit her through the "honourable PC"

She's not sure if she's allowed to smile here today.

That's a new one on me "fraudsters are a danger to the economy".

AV laughing again. Says: 'I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to smiile here today.'

Do any of my wonderful fellow websleuthers believe that OP will serve a prison sentence??

N: You think society would be happy for him to do 2 days work a month after killing someone?

Just lost my sound.

June Steenkamp is not in court today. Is that due to her discomfort about the money and Roux' stating yesterdays explanation is not true? I so hope not.

N:..he would have to serve two days a month community service, for having killed someone. Do you think society would be satisfied with that?

AV answers that it's just not society's interests that should be taken in to account.

N: Won't society think it's too light? Won't they begin to take law into their own hands?

I was just about to post that she was missing but thought she'd maybe nipped outside the courtroom. I was hoping due to the disclosure yesterday that she might have changed her mind and offered to testify.

N: it's also an option he should work with children?

AV: I understood it was disabled children but I was incorrect.

N: But you recommend someone should be taken out of their comfort zone, not doing something they've been doing all their life...

N: You think it's an option to work with children?
AV: Disabled children.

N: Thinks he should be taken out of his comfort zone.
AV: He can also work at the police station.

OMG They'll ask for his autograph like they did before.

Has she just arrived? I couldnt see her earlier but she's there now

The article was published today but ...

"The State’s version on payments made by Oscar Pistorius to the parents of Reeva Steenkamp is not accurate, the Pistorius family’s spokeswoman said on Tuesday night.

“The version presented in court by Mr [Gerrie] Nel regarding the events of payment is not accurate,” Anneliese Burgess said.

“The defence team will give a statement to the court tomorrow regarding the accurate position.”

Their lawyers statement demonstrates the elegance of the Steenkamps in all their actions, with no mention of their tantamount to spitting the offer back as being a pay-off or as "blood money" which now appears to have been Nel's interpretation of their refusal to accept and which has been repeated ad nauseam by the media which clearly must have upset them for them to make it.

Sadly I have to doubt, but I do hope the media will leave this alone now as is clearly their wish.

Is this the same therapist that used to rub OP's back during the trial breaks?

AV going on about monitoring offenders now. Not sure how that answered Nel's question.

N: You said you have dealt with the seriousness of this offence. What was the seriousness?

AV: The manner in which she passed away...

(Passed away? Like Reeva had a terminal illness and was in a hospice or something???!!)

So she doesn't think he's a true danger to society.
