Would you have a link for this? I don't remember any mention of whether he purchased drugs on the subsequent visits, only that she had been selling to him about twice a month. Everything I can find says the same as below. Thanks.

No I can't sorry. I usually have a pretty good memory, but it is possible in this instance I assumed (like everyone else) that he went to see BA after the murder because he wanted more percocets as she did testify that she saw him a couple times a month for that reason. So I suppose it was assumed that that's what he was there for. Unless he went to Guelph just to shoot the crap, which he could easily have done on the phone or text. I'd have a hard time just shooting the crap after I just witnesssed a murder. If I was a drug addict I would want to self-medicate asap.

Why would MR need to go to the top of the lane way when he could just as easily backed out? If TLM just needed to talk to Tori, just pulling into the laneway would have been suffice and there would be no need to drive all the way down that lane way, as I mentioned before, why would MR take the risk of getting stuck, getting a flat tire (not knowing what debris was down there, broken glass, barbwire, scrap metal ect.) and having an abducted child in the car. It makes no sense to me why MR would drive down to the rock pile and seclusion other then the obvious of what he's being charged with...sexual assault. :moo:

In some of the videos MR seemed to be a pretty competent driver IMHO. He was zipping all around town, past OSPS, through the gas station parking lots, zipping thru HD parking lot. IMHO MR knew what was at the end of that laneway...privacy. :moo:

Perhaps because it was narrow, slushy and dark? And he could see that the lane widened up ahead? JMO

Depending on what is said on the text messages between the two of them she may well have been caught.

That's true. But to be charged, I'm quite sure she would have had to be caught in the act, with the drugs in hand and the exchange for money witnessed. Text messages asking for drugs and offering them isn't proof that the exchange happened. JMO

I agree...When you first pull into this laneway you go downhill, then it inclines, it is about 400m long. First pulling in and seeing the slushy snow, he must have had an agenda to get to the top for a reason....not just to turn around, why risk getting stuck just to turn around. (I don't know where this turn around business started) Whether he knew about this particular spot or just happened upon it ....he did find a very secluded spot.

That's true, but she also stated that they had remained friends and confidants after they broke up. In fact, her last message to him was to ask him for help opening her swimming pool.

Ah, right, forgot about that.

Can you link this please? I don't remember seeing this. I do remember that BA last tried to contact MR around May 16 or 17, but got no response. However, I don't remember seeing anything that said why? I would be interested in this.

Thanks,

Salem

I wonder what happened to the big baggie he bought on the April 8, 2009? <modsnip>?

MOO

Well, she did say she took a handful of them at the Petrocan, or maybe it was at Timmy's according to the one reporter.

James Armstrong@jamesarmstrong7Reply
McC got high that morning. Shot up with her mom. Smoked pot with a friend. Took an 80 of Ox...yContin. Took Percocet at petro Canada

James Armstrong@jamesarmstrong7Reply
McClintic took the percocets at petro Canada. "I didnt know what to do in the situation I was in

James Armstrong@jamesarmstrong7Reply
McC "I resorted to the one answer I did know and that was to take drugs"

Linda Nguyen @LindaNguyenPN Reply Retweet Favorite · Open
McClintic admits she smoked up, took OxyContin and did a "handful" of Percocet pills when stopped at Tim Horton's

But then again, she said he wouldn't give her any more.

Cynthia Mulligan@CityCynthiaReply
#rafferty - McClintic said Rafferty told her he would give her more drugs but she already looked "f'd up".

Hey everybody - please lets keep the speculation and theories within the realm of the evidence and charges currently on the table. Making stuff up out of thin air just confuses the picture.

Thanks,

Salem

Armstrong, a 44-year-old mother of two, first met Rafferty six years ago when they worked at a meat processing plant in Guelph. They dated for a couple of months and have since remained good friends.

“I could pretty much tell him anything . . . it was like girl-talk,” Armstrong said.

The last time Armstrong contacted Rafferty was on May 14 or 17, she said. She remembers texting to ask if he could help her with her swimming pool. Rafferty replied that he had to check his schedule and would let her know. Armstrong never heard from him again.

Armstrong said she sent Rafferty a text in middle of May asking for his help in opening swimming pool

Rafferty's last contact with Armstrong was between the 14th and 17th of May. She asked for help with her pool.

The next thing that Armstrong heard was Rafferty arrest on TV

Thanks, Swedie. So one article out of many that I checked, as well as various tweets, states that she sold more to him a few days later. Interesting that it's the same reporter who had made other errors in her live tweeting that caused confusion, one of which was later corrected by her.

She did admit to selling to him on numerous occasions - a couple of times a month for the previous year. I don't believe that you can be charged with drug trafficking unless you are caught doing it. JMO

FYI I only checked a few out of all the reports out there. HTH

So it could be possible that he would be hoping for a larger space in which he could turn around?
Hoping? In my opinion, he knew there was room to turn around farther up the laneway because he was familiar with the location. Nobody in their right mind would drive up an unfamiliar, muddy, snowy, narrow laneway with a kidnapped child in the car, not knowing where it led or if they could get back out without getting stuck.

Another video link. This video shows the lane way and IMO looks quite long and very indeterminable what would be at the end. Unless someone knew this lane way, why would they dare to go down it not knowing what might be at the end MOO. Also the reporter in this video states BA as a "drug dealer". HTH.

But remember that this video was taken in July, when the leaves, weeds and grass are at there fullest growth. In early april (and the area had a late spring) there were no buds yet on the trees, the grass, weeds etc had not started growing and was flattened from the winter season, visibility up the lane would look much different. JMO I hope the jury is going there this week, as the buds etc are just starting to come out on the trees.

In this link about half way down, there is a pic of the top of the laneway...again this is taken in july. This is an overhead shot, the rockpile is not visible as the trees are covering it from this angle. Rockpile is to the right of the vehicles.

here is the same location (top of lane) at a different angle. This shows how tall the grass is in july. Today April 1st it looks much different.

Maybe he thought the safehouse was there? :waitasec:

So, since this whole turn-around business has come up, I was pondering it earlier, when I was attempting to read TLM's Map that she made for LE.

From what I can read, just up and to the right of the rock-pile, on the Map, it says:

"reverse then exit laneway by turning left onto road"

There is not an apostrophe after reverse, but, I take this to mean that MTR turned-around, and exited the laneway going forward, and turning left onto the road. TLM was presumably going behind the Civic to cover in the tracks.

I guess the only thing you can say for sure, if you believe this part of TLM's Map, is that the car was pointed at the Road when it turned left to exit, and also drove forward into the laneway, since it says "turn right onto laneway".

I am unable to read most of this Map, if anyone else is able to, and transcribe here, that would be great.

pic 38 in this link is a bit clearer when you increase the size. She also drew the car with an arrow showing backing up from the parking spot beside the rock pile. IIRC someone already transcribed what was written on this as well as her journal.

115 pictures of crime scene, house across from lane way and surroundings. HTH IMO the lane way looks like two tire trails with areas flat and solid enough to turn around in many areas along that path. Of course you would have to go off the trail somewhat to turn around but it looks safe enough to do so. And on April 8th, 2009 there was snow on the ground and no weeds, which would make the ground conditions easier to judge and whether it was feasible to turn around safely. MOO

Those shots of the laneway, including the clip here: http://www.globalnews.ca/cop+discove...450/story.html were taken by reporters from a distance with long lenses and have a foreshortened perspective. It's not necessarily what one would see from the car driving in there. I still feel Rafferty knew exactly where he was going, not just randomly heading up a blind trail he didn't know.
