Thank you for todays tweets guys, you all make this so much easier..

So the cell phone (however is was done ) was off for about 4 and half hours

Added:

I thought TLM testifiyd he had removed the battery DURING the kidnapping? if the pings stopped at 12:06 and didnt get another till 4pm then it was removed ( or however it was done ) prior to the abduction

I think she testified that he removed the battery when they were driving down the highway, maybe that was after the call at 4:00.

I guess "who" he called is not important. They have placed him in the area and proven once again TLM's account of the day

At 4:18 pm on April 8th, a 44 minute data call started. Derstine asks about it.

RaffertyLFP: Derstine is question a data call at 4:18 p.m. on April 8 that appears to go on for 44 minutes another just after 5 p.m. goes for two hours

Data calls show Internet usage. The call went to 5:02.

A data call at started at 5:03 lasted 2 hours.

Carnegie is finished. Derstine cross examining.

Derstine suggests data calls can last for a full day. One call lasts 17 hours, on data.

Broad agrees those calls can be long.

RaffertyLFP: Derstine is questioning a data call on Rafferty's phone record that appears to go on for 17 hours

Showing detailed bill data again. Report shows at 10:02 on April 7th, the 17 hour data call started.

Anyone know what this means?

Not sure what happened with the other tweeters.....they haven't tweeted in 10 mins

Voice calls can be answered while a data call was ongoing, on a blackberry.

Derstine questions data calls that last 17 hours, one 44 minutes, another 2 hours. One begins at 4:18 p.m., another at 5:02 p.m. #sl

RaffertyLFP: Derstine points out that the two long data calls were almost consecutive Broad said that voice calls could still have been received

Derstine suggests that if a phone was turned off, data sessions would end. Broad agrees.

He says removing the battery would also end cal. He says a phone would not be off if a data call is ongoing. Broad agrees.

Derstine says between 4:18 and 7:03, Rafferty's phone was on. Broad agrees.

RaffertyLFP: Derstine asks if a phone has be turned on to receive a data call. Broad agrees

LOL we need a phone techie to explain this. Tweets just ain't doing it. I'm not reading the replies from the expert...only Derstine's questions.

Derstine suggests the calls only show where they started. Broad agrees. No more questions.

RaffertyLFP: Derstine ask about the tracking of data calls from point where call placed. Suggests not good for tracking long calls after call placed

The crown has called Mustafa Bakhtyar.

RaffertyLFP: The next witness is Mustafa Bakhtyar a radio frequency engineer

Steven D'Souza ‏ @cbcsteve
Derstine points out that data call duration proves the phone was on during that time. So says #Rafferty phone on btw 4:18 pm and 7:03 pm #sl

Avery Moore ‏ @AveryFreeFMNews
In his cross, #Rafferty's lawyer asks Broad if the records show that Rafferty's phone was on from 4:18pm - 7:03pm April 8th. Broad says yes.

AM980_Court Derstine says between 4:18 and 7:03, Rafferty's phone was on. Broad agrees.

So if I'm getting this right, the phone was only shut off until 4:18, is that when they were at BA's house? MR could have put the battery back in then and TLM would not have known. I think data call must mean connected to the internet???

Steven D'Souza ‏ @cbcsteve
Derstine ends cross by pointing out cell towers only good gauge of where call started not where person was #sl

Avery Moore ‏ @AveryFreeFMNews
Terri-Lynne McClintic testified that #Rafferty turned his cell phone off when they left Woodstock.

Linda Nguyen ‏ @LindaNguyenPN
Broad agrees in cross-examination that records show #Rafferty's cellphone was on from 4:18pm to 7:03pm on Apr8

Carnegie wants to qualify him as a Radio Frequency engineer expert. No objection from Derstine.

He studied in Bangladesh, and University of Toronto.

RaffertyLFP: Mustafa is with Bell Mobility and based in Mississauga

He now works for Bell, has since 2008.

He will testify about how cell phone sites work.

Steven D'Souza ‏ @cbcsteve
Mustafa Bakhtyar on stand now as expert witness on Radio Frequency transmission (RF) #sl

Avery Moore ‏ @AveryFreeFMNews
Broad excused. Crown calls Mustafa Bakhtyar. He is a Radio Frequency expert from Bell Canada.

As you may know we have so much data on our phone plans. When we make a call, go on the internet or have our phone 'on' we use up data. So this is what they are speaking of in order to prove MR's phone was active at such and such a time.

thats what im getting .. His phone was/should have been in working order from 4-7 but they didnt ask about after hmmm.. :(
