Is the way SS walked to get to the place where she vanished and was murdered the only way of getting to that spot? If it is, how did her murderer get there without the same surveillance camera catching him, like they caught images of her?

Maybe someone somehow got her to meet him there.

From what I'm reading from those translating the discussion (THANK YOU!!!!) surveillance shows her going to the place where she ultimately died alone. So her murderer (presumably) was already there. How did she know to go there? Everyone familiar with the area says she could not have accidentally stumbled upon this place.

I think the meeting was set up in advance. That's why her ipad/phone were taken. I wonder if she asked him to meet her at the bridge, and he said, "I have a better idea". He probably told her to meet him at this other place- this more secluded place- and probably said the pictures would make it worth going to such a secluded area. He was giving her the opportunity to take pictures different from anything one would normally see from an American tourist in Instanbul's photo album.

But how did he get there without being seen by the camera? Is there a back way or something?

By car? I don't know if he even has a car. It is possible.

The cameras only go so far.She could have met someone in a more favorable area nearby where there was no cameras. That is a tourist area so its not unlikely in my opinion.

Btw where the last camera spotted her and where she was found there were NO touristy areas! I'm not sure how many times I have to explain this.

Look for the last time, I'm not saying your theory is impossible. I'm just saying based on the opinions of those on this board that have lived in Istanbul, it is HIGHLY unlikely.

As noted and posted upthread (about 6ish days ago) and before she was found, her friend (Roderiguez) described in a media report that she would have an extra pair of shoes with her. I thought this was pretty odd, for a friend in NY to know what SS would be carrying on her person when she went missing, but alas, Ms. Rodriguez certainly knew SS's habits, because indeed, and extra pair was found.

Did they look at all the videos from that camera for at least a few days before she went missing and a few days after?Did they see any homeless people walk by?

If she didn't killed by someone she knew (I am not sure if they said she was alone until Cankurtaran in the footage) by looking at the violence I think the murderer could be under serious drugs. Just a thought...Still Taylan seems more possible.

But Taylan said they never met on that day. If they did, then it'd be a very risky lie. The moment the police finds someone who say he saw them together, he will be the main suspect.

My question is this. Is it possible to get into this area from any place, without being detected by a camera? I highly doubt this. I would think that they could track all cameras in nearby areas to see any person who entered into the general vicinity just before her or just after her. I am sure they may have picked up some of the suspects based on this, and perhaps maybe even pick up more if still trying to determine who all the people are they might have spotted on any of the many cameras.

They may not know who was around her at that exact moment, but I assume they can determine who would potentially have been around her by ascertaining the above. I find it doubtful they will not find this person, unless there really is a way to get into this area without being seen by a single camera, or unless they lived here as a vagabond for some time and never left, which would seem impossible to do and not be caught by now.

Yes but unless asked, why would she say that?

Well, then I would be thinking it may have been a group of young men hanging out partying and that saw her. The video cameras should show someone who had been in the area within the days before she went missing. Were there beer cans or liquor bottles on the ground anywhere in that area?

Earlier we were focusing the murderer is somebody she knew. There are very detailed posts telling why it is possible. You can find them if you look at few pages earlier.

You are right but if Taylan killed her, he wouldn't say: yes we were together that day.

BBM

Exactly. Someone told her to meet them there in advance. It explains the shoes, it explains the missing electronics (gotta get rid of any messages that would show this pre-arranged meeting being set up, and gotta hide who set it up with her), it explains how she managed to walk on her own to the place. She was probably given directions and agreed to meet someone there. Whoever she was meeting told her that she'd have some climbing to do, so bring appropriate footwear.

doesn't necessarily mean someone told her to meet them there. She could have asked someone about a destination where she could find graffiti and that is where she was lead to. Told her she would probably do some climbing and lot of walking to bring sneakers.(which explains the extra shoes) She head in that direction alone(as seen on CCTV)
She was minding her business taking photos and #1 she fell (which describes all of her injuries) and a druggy found her took what they wanted from her and dumped her. #2 she was taking pictures, a druggy saw her,did not like that and attacked her for her phone and iPad. And she put up a fight.

Yes, police found liquor bottles close to her body. There is an entry in this thread about it.

Falling wouldn't describe all her injuries since they said her face was beaten so bad it was unrecognizable.

I don't see that as likely. I've never come across a group of drunk men in my whole time in Turkey. Occasionally there will be the odd man sitting quietly having a beer on the seaside. Yes, there may be sniffers, but in my experience they are alone.

I am starting to be convinced that someone took her up the top of those walls. I don't think any normal local would advise her to visit there alone.

Well then, I think she stumbled into a group of drunk possibly homeless guys that just had their way with her. :(

But they didn't have their way with her. she wasn't sexually assaulted. I cannot envision a bunch of rowdy drunk guys just beating her to death and pulling down her pants, but not touching her sexually, and then walking away.

sadly, I think the same. Thats what makes most sense to me. And if thats the case I hope those bastards are found and tortured

There is this cool former homicide cop on the TV show, who keeps saying let's concentrate on facts (leave conspiracy theories aside).

He says in the last 15-20 years there were only 3 violent cases as this one.

Agreed. I think she was told to go to that place by someone who wanted to harm her.

Now they are saying in the tv that actually it is not possible to know it at this stage. Only the final report can tell if she was sexually assaulted.

Here you go:

The victim's clothing, an extra pair of shoes she was carrying with her, bottles of alcohol and a broken piece of glass found at the crime scene were all sent to the Istanbul police department for further examination.
