The moment of the attack at the Istanbul airport. Horrific.

Update 28 dead and 60 injured

"Three suicide bombers have killed at least 28 and wounded 60 in a 'major, co-ordinated' attack at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, opening fire with AK-47s and sparking a shoot-out with security personnel before blowing themselves up.

Eyewitnesses have told how a hero policeman wrestled a suicide bomber to the ground just seconds before he detonated his explosives at the entrance to the airport's international arrivals terminal.

It is believed the men were trying to pass through the airport's security x-ray machines at the entrance to the airport when they were stopped by security officers, and carried out their lethal attack."

Istanbul-Ataturk airport is the third busiest European airport, with 61.8 million passengers in total in 2015.

More than 2.5 million Britons visit Turkey every year, many of them through Ataturk airport.

It is also a busy connecting airport for flights between Europe and Asia.

neither my phone or my desk top can play this. :/

Wow, my husband had a jump seater on his flight this afternoon who was supposed to pilot a Delta flight to Istanbul tonight. I had to tell them there probably wasn't a flight. This is Shocking for us because we have been to Paris, Brussels, and Turkey recently prior to their terror attacks. It makes it more personal to me, and scares me, which I guess is the terrorists goal.

Just turned on the news. Heartbreaking!!! More Violence. My heart cries.
PEACE.

Last year, Ataturk overtook Frankfurt airport to enter the top three busiest airports in Europe after London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

More than 61 million passengers travelled through the airport in 2015.

A US state department travel warning for Turkey, originally published in March and updated on Monday, urges US citizens to "exercise heightened vigilance and caution when visiting public access areas, especially those heavily frequented by tourists."
