The new move by BSL may prevent LE and investigators from seeking information on other crimes he has committed. If BSL can convince the world he is innocent of these two crimes, it could also raise doubt of his involvement in any other crimes. I expect him to keep his mouth shut until this issue is resolved ... with the Hope; this new maneuver gives him that he can get out of this situation he has gotten himself into.
We must remain patient, this is another delay tactic by the defense team.
It is also a gamble that more evidence will be found linking BSL to other crimes, thus raising any doubt he is capable of committing such horrendous crimes. We need to remain diligent in gathering any evidence against him during this attempt to void his admission of guilt. JMO

I agree that LE must remain diligent because you're right, I have little hope at this time, that BSL is going to cooperate. He will only cooperate when it will benefit him. He will cooperate when enough evidence is presented to him that he may be facing the death penalty. Until LE can present that kind of evidence, BSL won't cooperate.

I would like to clarify a couple of things though. BSL isn't convincing anyone that he is innocent of those two crimes, nor any other crimes he may be associated with. Even if he were to prevail on his Motions, he would stand trial and ultimately be convicted of the same crimes with the only difference being that now the DA would be seeking the death penalty in those 2 cases as well. Ultimately, I don't think BSL even wants to win those motions. I think it's just his way of trying to "stick it to the system" and gives him some sense of "winning" in his own warped mind because he isn't just going away.

Also, again just to clarify, there is no "defense team". What there is, is a warped individual that sits in a cell at least 23 hours a day with nothing better to do than think of ways of that the world and life has screwed him, pardon the french, and how he can get back at the world, even if it's just to be a thorn in its side by filing what amount to frivolous motions.

Just my 2 cents but I do agree with the substance of your post, that LE must continue to be diligent because BSL is not likely to cooperate at this point.
 
"Why would you not pass such an amazing crime fighting tool"? "Predators & Violent Felons are recidivist".. How many innocent victims such as Ali Lowitzer, Mickey Shunick, Jennifer Kesse, etc., would be with their families today if Katie's Law had been passed by all 50 states a decade ago?

WASHINGTON - Thanks in part to Congressman Scott Tipton, R-CO, the president has signed a bill into law that would enhance the DNA collection process among those arrested nationwide.

Katie's Law originates from a 2003 New Mexico murder case. DNA evidence helped find Katie Sepich's killer, which prompted advocates to push for legislation that would expand the use of DNA in investigations.

Laws at the time allowed DNA collection from only those convicted of a crime. Katie's Law made it legal for officials to collect DNA from anyone arrested, which is archived into a searchable database.

Is Brandon Lavergne still a suspect in this case?
 
It's been pretty tight lipped since the investigator asked for information about BSL's truck and word that the partial plates/vehicle description of a vehicle of interest in Ali's case matched BSL's truck. I don't know if he's a suspect or ever was officially, but I imagine they're looking at him closely. I don't know anything as fact as I don't think any official announcements have ever been made, which is kind of maddening.

spoke w mrs jo ann on facebook and she said they are still looking at bsl but she cant talk about it and of course LE isnt talking about it. im so frustrated that more isnt being done about public awareness! i live one state over and i only came to ali's case because of mickey shunick! i wish more awareness was possible.
 
Just leaving a note to say that Ali is still on our minds and in our hearts here in Northern California...

Although the newly passed Federal Katie's Law has passed, there are a few states that have yet to pass it. The Federal Law only provides the Fund$ for the remaining states to pass and implement it...
Imo, the amazing amount of awareness created by the Mickey Shunick Team across the USA was instrumental in the passing of the Federal Katie's DNA Law...

i hope the benefit helped the lowitzers raise their reward and that someone remembers something soon. as always my thoughts and prayers are with her family.
