Yeah, that's what the idiot school spokesperson called it at the presser, which is WRONG, and the media picked that up and ran with it afterward.

When it was found, the media said it was a rattan/wicker type of trunk and one can clearly see that in the pictures.

Surfie, I didn't watch the presser (thank goodness) but I had wondered where that term came from. None of the pictures of the trunk are very clear but it didn't look like a "tool trunk" to me.

@PP - yes!! those are ladybugs of all different colors. I needed an avatar and this one - I just loved the colors!

@Ihavenoclue: thank you! that was almost 11 years ago that I clobbered him but I still feel good about it.

I hate bullies. I am sorry you were a victim and glad you fought back.
Sorry for o/t. Just had to say that. :)

Good thinking. But, perhaps the one who sold it would remember who bought it. I really think LE needs to show an enlarged picture of that trunk to the public. Such an important clue.

I agree. Someone knows who that trunk belongs to.

The term "tool box" was introduced in the press conference in a question asked of Police Chief Busken. The Chief responded with the phrase "incorrect information".

I suppose technically someone could store tools in a wicker basket, but that does not make a wicker basket a tool box in the traditional sense of the term.

According to a news release yesterday, a construction worker found Alicia’s body in a trunk off the side of Farm-to-Market 47 near a bridge railing, four miles north of the town of Wills Point, at about noon. It seems from media sites that this ‘trunk’ was likely a furniture trunk or perhaps a tool trunk, but police have not discussed details in the discovery except that “some of the information reported by the media is accurate, some is not completely accurate. There is a box that’s associated with this investigation."

The Aunt said it was just a candle? I assume she is referring to the fire?

There is some speculation that a lit candle left at the scene may have overturned and caused the fire.

ETA: They really need to be careful with those candles. Texas is again under high fire danger alerts.

Just trying to piece a timeline together... a few questions come to mind.

I think one potentially big issue here is going to be the time of death , still to be determined by the Medical Examiner.

An associated question is: what time did the family contact police and report Alicia missing ?

The question in my mind is how much time transpired between these two events ?

It was mentioned up thread the trunk/basket did not appear to have been on the side of the highway very long, does that then imply she was discovered shortly after her death, possibly even a few hours or less ? Posing this another way: was the trunk/basket on the side of the highway a few hours, a day, or several days ?

Family reported her missing sometime after 7:30pm Fri. night. Don't think we have a report from the ME yet re: TOD.

The emotional plea came Thursday from Alicia Chanta Moore's aunt, Jessica Byrd, on behalf of the 16-year-old murder victims' entire family.

"Do the right thing and turn yourself in. That's all we ask you to do so we can get some sort of peace from this situation," Byrd told The Huffington Post.

The distraught aunt, whose deep sorrow was evident in her voice, added, "We're not here to judge you. That's not our job. That's God's job."

"There's nothing that we can think of that could have happened," Byrd said. "She's not the type that would just take off and she would not walk up to anybody she did not know. She is very shy and quiet. Either someone threatened her to come with them or she was approached by someone she trusted. We just don't know."

I agree. Someone knows who that trunk belongs to.

Especially if there are initials on it ... As a poster commented!

I would love to know the initials... Even if it is the initials of the designer... Like LV for Louis Vuitton..etc. Sorry about spelling ... I don't know much about designer labels! :giggle:
