While SAPD says their investigation into Chrissy's disappearance and death is ongoing, I wonder if perhaps we have heard the last we will hear about this case, unless they determine she was a victim of homicide, which, at least initially, seems unlikely, according to them. If her death is ruled the result of an accidental drug overdose, or of suicide, other than to satisfy public curiosity, what would be the point in announcing that? They already have informed the public that she has been found, and circumstances seem to point to there being no ongoing threat to public safety. I believe that is all we will learn of this case, and really is all we are entitled to know. JMO

Does anyone here think LE will make public details of her autopsy, or COD?
I wish they would, but I'm doubtful. Do you remember the recent case of Carol Schulte, the 70-something year old woman who was an avid hiker who called into work (bus volunteer) and told them either she'd miss the morning shift or would be out that day (conflicting info on what she really said), and then they located her van in the parking lot of the park she liked to hike in? They and the public, massive amounts of people, searched for a week. She was finally located, deceased, in the river, THIRTY MILES south of where her van was parked. As far as I know, and I checked the news sites frequently, they never announced anything as to COD, nor did the family on the official missing pages. That bothers me from a public point of view. If there is nothing for those who live in that area to worry about, as far as a murderer lurking in the woods, at least let the public know that they are 100% certain this was self-inflicted.

No foul play could mean natural death, accidental death or suicide. In any case there's no danger for the public, so it's not necessary to specify when it's suicide.

You're right, but often we hear "no foul play suspected" but it would be nice in many cases to hear "foul play was ruled out." In Carol Schulte's case, I've yet to read that they ruled out foul play entirely. All along it was stated as "not suspected."

I think her car was actually parked slightly to the right of the photo of her car that is covering the bench area on the pic below. This is judging by the full photo of the car shown in the news video. It's still close to people seating and walking by.

DM pic posted earlier:
Good eye, you're right. In fact, looking a little further, her car is parked against a solid line and the only spot like that nearby is actually across the street behind a wall. If that's correct, then that changes my mind a bit about the foul play aspect or me thinking about her wanting to be found quickly.

It would be nice to hear it, but very often they can't be that definite. Ms. Schulte might have slipped and fallen in, might have jumped in, or might have been pushed, and there's really no way to tell. The same will probably be true in Chrissy's case, unfortunately.

Has it been explained where they got "1 week" from? Do they have video surveillance of the car not being there a week ago? Or is this word-of-mouth by the security person that found her (which doesn't seem like it would be reliable... who remembers how long random cars are parked in a high-traffic parking lot??)

And cameras- security guard says she was parked there a week but was it really three weeks?

I am very surprised the car was located in a parking lot and apparently also near her home.

I just sort of reinforces that while these cases catch our attention most people even in her area probably had no idea to look for her.
Such sad news!!

I am curious though, if the car was only there a week and she has been missing for 3 weeks !!!

Plus.. she was found in the "Passenger" seat?? Not the Driver's seat.

Hopefully the family will get more answers.

Prayers for her mom and children !!

Somehow, the car went undetected for a week, despite sitting between a steakhouse, a Chipotle and an REI store.

From this DM article:
The Bexar County Medical Examiner has completed its autopsy, but a manner and cause of death has not yet been given.

As a result, the autopsy report has not yet been made public.

A spokesman from that office told DailyMail.com on Tuesday that it may be six months before they release the report, which could delay the police investigation dramatically.

To date, there has been no suggestion from the police of foul play.
Early in her disappearance, police ruled out Chrissy's ex.

Chrissy's sister, in announcing her death on Facebook yesterday, signaled that she had been having mental health problems.

'Hold on to and hug your loved ones extra tight. Check on those friends who are going through hard times,' her sister, Jennifer, said.

The statement from the mall security might be based solely on an internal procedure by the contactor.

IMO, investigators will use GPS from the vehicle to determine where and when the vehicle traveled since leaving CP's residence on 7/5/22. They've likely already shared this information with her family.

Condolences to all that loved and cherished this beautiful woman.

A dear friend once told me that sometimes a mental illness is terminal. Sometimes no matter what people do their loved one may chose to end their own life. Don’t stop trying, but realize things may not make sense as to why. I am leaning towards this being a suicide. Of course it’s just from reading between the lines. I hope she is resting easy now no matter what the cause.

Not only was her car parked in between busy businesses, what you can't see underneath the picture of her car is that there are a bunch of benches and tables for people to sit down and relax/eat food. I think if this was foul play, her car wouldn't have been positioned in a place with such high traffic and constant people walking/sitting nearby. It almost makes me think that she chose that location in the hopes that she would have been found a lot quicker. I don't know, I'm just speculating. Damn, this is so sad. Rest in Peace Chrissy.
Good point. A bit curious that people walking by or sitting with a drink didn't notice an odor.

Although there are areas to sit outside pictured right there, no one is sitting outside right now. Since Chrissy went missing, we haven't had a single day where the high was under 100, many days peaked at 107+ and that's a hot tar parking lot, so it would feel even hotter.

It seems likely that if we were having pleasant weather, and people were lingering out on the patio and benches, she would have been discovered long ago.

Such a sad story.

The car very well may have been there the whole time. We don't know yet. The family now mentioning mental health issues makes me think that there were other issues at play here. I'm sure they told police, which may explain why police didn't seem to be overly aggressive in their search. But they had not mentioned this publicly.

So sad to hear this, just catching up. Curious how security works there, in our Walmart which isn't even a 24hr store the security does rounds throughout the parking lot, throughout the day. Wonder how this vehicle was overlooked by security for an entire week. I think the information on her missing was made public to some degree in that area and security didn't think to check out this vehicle? Curious how they came up with a week, was it due to video surveillance and the security guard is just lax in his duties or did he just ignore it for a week? Not that it may have changed the outcome, but if you take on the job preform your duties. Also curious to know who did searches and did they ever look in this area at all? I do know a search group said they assisted in the searches, did they go to this area? I would think the routes she would have traveled and large parking lots would have been the first place to look. Not only that but does SAPD not patrol business at night? Usually officers familiar with an area doing night patrol can tell when a vehicle is out of place especially if a business is not a 24 hour facility. My assumption is to some degree, sadly none of these questions will be answered. Such sad news but at least she was found and her family can put her to rest.

Daily Mail claims there were told by police sources - not just no foul play but "self inflicted."

I don't know what to make of that article...

Police sources on Tuesday told DailyMail.com they do not know how Chrissy died, but that they believe her death was self-inflicted based on the fact her body showed no sign of trauma.

'It could be any number of things - carbon monoxide, heat exhaustion, medication... we don't know until we get the medical examiner report's back,' a person with knowledge of the investigation said.
Are they claiming that "heat exhaustion" fits under the umbrella of "self-inflicted"?

I agree, its not a paradigm of clarity, but I think its two different sources being credited.

The "Polices sources" tell them they believe her death was self-inflicted.

Then a "person with knowledge of the investigation" says the it could be any number of things part.

And I wonder about waiting 6 months!!!! for toxicology report.

I'm really surprised that it takes soooo long.

But maybe there are not many professionals and there is a queue?
From other cases I've followed, I do recall it can take several weeks for certain types of toxicology tests. 6 months does sound like a lengthy amount of time, but I also wonder if they need time now to check all the security cameras thoroughly.

IMO, it may take that long, but they will also say it takes that long when they don’t want to release information to the public, or when no further investigation will actually happen. As an example, Erica McClain was found dead on the side of a roadway in Scio, Ohio. I attempted for a year to get info about her autopsy from the ME and coroner. They kept saying it was not yet completed and then they stopped responding at all.
