I noted before something along your lines. Let's suppose that Sergio WAS home, OK? He would have heard the shots and ran outside, which would have been normal-or, he would have not responded, which would have looked highly suspicious. Had he run outside, he would have seen the truck as it returned to the crime and possibly noted the plate number or partial. Either way, it is a big issue. In my opinion, ONLY if the killer knew that Sergio was gone could he/she have known that returning to the scene would be non-confrontational. Now, there was 2 1/2 minutes between the murder and when the perp returned, so any of a number of residents could have seen the truck return as well, but we know that at the VERY same time that Sergio left for work the perp left the Goddard School parking lot to conceal on a different street.

Food for thought...
I'm not convinced the shooter planned on returning to the scene. Circling back to make sure she's dead? But she wasn't dead. Is it possible that the shooter initially left the scene with some doubt? Anybody could have been outside two minutes after, it's surprising somebody wasn't in position to get a plate number.

Why do you say she was not dead? I am pretty sure she was dead at that point.

No, she died later at a hospital. She was gravely injured, but they life flighted her in hopes of saving her.

Not sure because of Liz’s injuries but have often wondered if Liz was able to communicate anything whether that be verbal or some other way to first responders or LE prior to her passing away?

According to Paula Zahn show, once a neighbor heard gunshots she looked outside (initially thinking shots came from inside her home) and her husband ran out of the house into the street. Once he’s outside he motioned for her to call police. Curious if he was able to pick up a license plate number or partial plate number, anything?

MOO

IMO, not sure why this case doesn't receive national attention. Actually its been none for a crime of this magnitude. I get that the system is most likely backlogged, causing delays? It's concerning that killer(s) are able to freely move around and you never know when killer will strike again.

Curious if Liz's family have anything in the works for the fourth year of Liz's murder which is quickly approaching? I don't see any planned event on their website at this time. I think there are a few new photos added to homepage and some photos were updated last month under photo gallery link.

Okay. Everyone enjoy day 2 of 2023!

I agree with you - this case just does not seen to receive the national attention it should

I saw this on the family's page. A new upcoming show. Details below:

Tubi: CrimeDoor TV

We granted an interview to a new True Crime show called CrimeDoor TV. The episodes appear on Tubi. It is a daily show lasting about 25 minutes. Our episode will air in January or February 2023. We will post the airtime here when confirmed.

Thank you so much! It just updated after I checked site and posted here or I missed it entirely.

I think there are some similarities with this case and Missy Bevers.

IMO both:

Pre-planned
Solid Alibi set up
Personal and angry attacks
Costume worn as a decoy to LE

Both still not solved many tears later.

Yes, there are definitely similarities. I first heard about this case after people were discussing it in the Missy Bevers threads.

I go back and forth on what case I think is closer to being solved. At the moment, I think Elizabeth's case has more momentum.

The Barraza neighborhood seemed like a maze of endless roads to travel through with several cul-de-sacs, a typical neighborhood. Unless you’re familiar with the area I’d think you would get lost when exiting especially in a panic. Turning around to drive back by the murder scene is bizarre! Did sirens and lights scare driver to decide to turn around and exit another way, resulting in driving by the Barraza home?

The truck was previously caught on surveillance camera driving through the neighborhood. Truck driver did not seem too worried about being caught (perhaps because of disguise) on camera driving through the neighborhood or parking at Goddard school. I can’t imagine how the killer wouldn’t be worried about being caught so that leads me to believe familiarity with said neighborhood and an escape route would not be much of a challenge. Moreover, as previously mentioned here perhaps killer does not own the truck and actual owner is unaware the truck was even used. MOO.

Not so weird if you consider it a hate crime: the shooter took great pleasure . In my opinion, he/she must know Elizabeth.

Two questions about the garage sale:

a. Has it been confirmed that Barraza posted an ad for the garage sale on FB?
b. How widely were the garage sale flyers posted? Was it just on her street, a few blocks, etc.?

This is a good place to start

IIRC, no garage sale ad was posted on Facebook.

Agree; it would be FABULOUS if a current update was done!

There was an additional article in People/July 2020.

Link here: People_July2020_Barraza

Liz was actually featured in the Print magazine whereas the first article I believe was a digital release.

Basically, stuff we have already seen but I bolded the text for emphasis; <modsnip - no link>

Snipped from the 2020 digital article:

As she lay dying in her driveway, the suspect drove away, but then circled back and drove past the crime scene.

“I feel they contacted somebody and said, ‘Hey, the job’s done,’” Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Ritchie says in this week’s issue of PEOPLE. “And then that person said, ‘Are you sure?’ And they turned around and drove by the scene one more time.”

Quote from the print magazine not included in the digital version (partial screenshot attached: I have the full article but not sure allowed) BBM:

"This is the strangest, toughest case I've ever worked,” says Sgt. Michael Ritchie, lead investigator with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, adding that the killer seemed to know enough about the scene to deliberately avoid the couple's own doorbell camera. “I've not canceled or exonerated anybody off of the suspect list.”

I know this question has been asked before but I don’t remember the answer. Did Sergio and the killers truck pass each other in their way in/out of the neighborhood?
