<snip> And the FBI has gotten involved as of today. So things are happening….

As for the identity of the person who gave Johnson a ride from the club, X said, “We don’t have a clue right now.”

“This is the fifth Black girl to come up missing, quote-unquote, ‘involved in the sex industry,’” he said. “The previous four were all found murdered—and this is all in the past five months.”<snip>

Woman’s Bloody Cellphone Turns Up Days After She Vanished Leaving Club
Extremely concerning. Especially if FBI is now involved.

Fourth case in six months?!
Quanell X is a national figure, so it's not surprising he's been involved in 4 cases in 6 months. The last case I recall, was very similar - a woman involved in the stripper/escort business, and in that case it did appear LE did nothing. Unlike this case where they seem to be responding vigorously.

I remember a few decades ago, cases like this wouldn't have merited any more investigation than filing a report, and that was it. No follow up at all.

Search underway for missing woman last seen leaving Houston nightclub

He said the family hired a private investigator who then tracked Felicia’s cellphone, which was found 15 minutes away from the nightclub, according to Quanell X. The phone was allegedly covered in blood. The family believes she is a victim of foul play.

Kevin says he went to the nightclub to speak to a manager but was told to leave.

“I think they have something to do with it. I think they have some arrangement with these men to abduct these girls that come from out of state,” he said.

Kevin says he’s also meeting with FBI detectives.

But what would this give the nightclub to be involved in something like this? While it’s entirely possible there is a serial killer it makes no sense for the club to be involved unless they are being paid buckets of money for trafficking. Seems like it’d be easier to traffic the homeless than a woman that had enough money to fly/drive out to Houston, stay in a hotel, and apply for jobs there . There are also countless strip clubs in Houston so I doubt it’d be a lucrative business model for this one strip club to alert traffickers to the one out of state applicant that happens to apply to this specific club. All IMO of course!

Ahh good to know! Thank you!

Father of woman who vanished after leaving Houston strip club says she's a victim of human trafficking – FOX 26 Houston
<snipped & BBM>
Her father, Kevin Johnson, says his daughter traveled to Houston to visit family from San Diego. While in town, she tried to get a job as a dancer at Cover Girls.

[...]

"I’m running off of pure faith and just not giving up on her, that we’re going to get her back," said Johnson.

[...]

"I think she got caught up in one of those sex trafficking, human trafficking situations where they are snatching up these out of town girls and putting them to work. That’s what I think happened to her. I don’t have proof, but in my heart I feel like the strip club had something to do with it," Johnson said.

FOX 26 reached out to Cover Girls for a comment. We were told the owners never come into the establishment and there was no way for us to speak with them. They also said the manager doesn’t take phone calls.

They wouldn't have known she was from out of state, and flew in and had a hotel though. She walked in hoping to dance that night, and they didn't need her, so she was leaving. That's all they really knew about her. That, and strippers/sex workers are extremely vulnerable by the very nature of what they do.

I am still confused about what information is coming from the family, Quantrell X, or LE. Is the phone in police custody being swabbed for DNA, prints? Anything in the content of the phone, deleted or otherwise, that might help in finding her?

Yeah, it’s hard for me to believe this is specific to this club. I think dad is desperate, rightly so, and reaching, IMO.

This is the first article I’ve seen that says she came to visit family. Wonder where her family member(s) lived and when they saw her last. You would think they would have a description of what she was wearing when they saw her last, if it had been anytime recent to her disappearance.

Based on her FB page, I believe her grandfather lives in Houston.

I hadn't heard about "family" being in Houston either. She was staying at a hotel, and I read she was there to "celebrate her birthday" and also that she was possibly planning to move to Houston.

In googling two other recent cases of sex workers vanishing from Houston that Quanell X was advocating for, there are suspects charged in their murders so wouldn't be related to Felicia going missing. Shawtyeria Waites and Sara Goodwin were their names.

She has an "alias" (social media likely) name listed on one of her missing posters. Here is the twitter account tied to that name. What is concerning (to me at least) is she had an "only fans" account linked there. "only fans" has an "explicit content" warning so what she was posted may or may not have been something that attracted unwanted attention from someone. It could have just been some modeling shots - but it still worries me. Just a thought. https://twitter.com/feliciaj_m?lang=en

I know the phone was tracked to where it was found beside the road, but did family find it or LE? Only thinking family might have just picked it up while (hopefully) LE CSI would have used proper procedures to preserve evidence and process it for any prints, etc.

Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought she got a ride from someone she didn't know and hasn't been seen since?

I think it would be more along the lines of the type of work versus the strip club itself running a trafficking enterprise. Houston’s Bissonett Street “The Track” is active 24/7.

The Track

Agreed. That definitely makes more sense. They simply see a unfamiliar woman on that strip who probably looks a little lost and uncertain about her surroundings. Perfect situation for trafficking. I still am doubting the family’s story of the strip club being involved.

The family's PI is a "white-passing" Hispanic man. When he spoke to management at the Cover Girls Club, they told him that they weren't going to hire Felicia and that they don't hire black girls, which confirms some allegations made against the club for racism. This conversation was allegedly recorded by the PI.

Also, a woman formerly trafficked by the enterprise speaks out in the video.
