I thought when this first happened they spoke of them dating. Now... I never hear that mentioned. I did not watch the trial; was it brought up?

Maybe a lawyer can weigh in. If she was in uniform, shouted commands etc and if she was treated like an officer after the shooting by the PD could that leave the PD or the City exposed.

That's a good question because she was not acting in her capacity as a police officer and was off duty but they (PD and union) quickly closed ranks around her as though she was. When off duty cops kill someone, I'll bet that's the norm because BROTHERHOOD.

Yes, and they paid her bond, plus her attorney fees (which must have cost a fortune). She got all the perks of an on duty officer involved in a shooting, including special treatment IMO

I can say, it was not the PD per se for sure, they are probably happy to be done with the case on a high hugging note, but he was killed in at the moment that does not allow to naively believe in “accidental coincidences”. So I would just call it “a very suspicious murder”.

I guess there are some shady people used by other shady people, and this chain leads nowhere.

Did you know that JB was involved in a street fight last November, and he was shot, and his friend killed?

Only one arrest, here, and the alleged shooter has not been found. The only arrested suspect is currently out on $250,000 bail.

I'm more suspicious about the unnamed shooter, and his accomplice wanting to silence JB from testifying in this murder trial than fall out from AG's trial. MOO

Thank you for this and it illustrates why jumping to conclusions is a bad idea.

Very strange that the guy indicted in the strip club murder is out on bond.

I just realized that the man arrested and free on $250,000 bail allegedly handed the gun to the "actual shooter" -- who's not been named or located.

The actual shooter is at large, and IMO, more reason to silence JB (versus fall out from AG trial).

What a sad ending for JB: he dealt with the death of his neighbor in September, and November 2018 -- lost his friend, and nearly his own life.

Such a tragedy, and condolences to his family, friends, and young child.

Wow. I suppose other witnesses attested to that (his being handed the weapon) so why is he charged with murder and had to post bond?

Never mind! I misread that and now I understand why he was charged.

Yes I starting to think that they just used the timing of this trial as a good time for payback.

Prosecutors, as well as Dallas District Attorney John Creuzot, weighed in on former Dallas Police Officer Amber Guyger's sentence.

Guyger's attorneys say their client is still coming to grips with being a convicted murderer and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Botham Jean's family And loved ones will FOREVER grieve their loss. She got a measly 10 years. Time for her to put her big girl pants on,and suck it up.

I agree no harm done but Amber was in Custody and she was still an official so still not getting it (I can be thick sometimes)

OK...LOL still really confused but now about the take your bible to school day!
Hmmmmm. Do they realize they leave this wide open for someone
I agree.

Also, comments from both the D.A. and the Mayor posted in this thread indicate that they do not disapprove of Her Honor's actions.

I certainly hope that people will see this for what it is and not turn it into something it's not. I do not think we need to discourage compassion.

This is SO true. We NEED compassion in a courtroom.
I am GLAD we got to witness this.
Even as an atheist I can totally appreciate this moment and have no resentment that it occurred in a courtroom.
The question is does she show that same compassion for all convicted murderers??????

Of course she's a danger, she's a loose cannon. IMO
The bullit pierced Botham Jean in a downward trajectory. Which means he had to be standing over him when she shot him. He was in his own apartment, minding his own business. If that's not dangerous then I guess handling a poisonous snake would be a good idea.

Jean’s mother wasn’t so quick to forgive.

On Thursday (October 3) she appeared on CBS This Morning and when asked if she had forgiven Guyger like her son Brandt did, she said, “I’m getting there.”

“I cannot eat,” she said while addressing the court during sentencing. “It’s just been the most terrible time for me.”

After she was found guilty, prosecutors revealed a series of text messages and social media posts that positioned Guyger as a racist.

SMH. Can't wrap my head around some people thinking she's a sweet little harmless thing, and not dangerous. Good Grief.

I value his life very much. I believe this young man would have gone on to do many wonderful things, much more than AG would have done with her life. I feel that she is a troubled young woman, whether she murdered anyone or not.

Re: btfly547's post above, I didn't realize that she stated that she was a racist??
Baffling how so many want to just white wash over that.
