I think its because this spokesperson does not seem to be very professional in both his words and actions (before the PC laughing and joking with the press, pushing a local Mexican Restaurant, asking who's buying, commenting about a particular reporter's boots), and then when he has spoke - he contradicts previous statements he has already made. When he does contradict himself - he gives no reason for why white is now black - nor does he even acknowledge that he is contradicting one of his own previous statements.

I think its that this is just not the level of professionalism that we usually see in these cases with the PIO and LE that do press releases and press conferences.

The only people I can think of who have so many stories for one situation (yes there is evidence at landfill, oops no there is not, oops there is but not of hailey, oops there is not of anything, oops there is) would be perps!!!

I don't care how small the town, most people have a person who can at least keep the LE line straight. Its as if every time he says something LE yanks him on the phone to deny it.

But we know for a fact that Hailey spent the night with dad on Christmas day and then spent part of the next day{26th} at dad's and most likely that evening went back to mom's on Sunday the 26th.. And as we know we have our last credible sighting of Hailey by DD at 9pm that night in the living room..playing his Xbox..when he left to go spend the night at a friends house..Hailey supposedly "disappeared" the very next day{27th}..so that actually means that Hailey ONLY SPENT ONE..SINGLE..SOLITARY NIGHT sleeping in her bedroom with her new TV.. {IMO big difference in she'd been sleeping in her room the past week and the truth actually be at the most IF it truly ever happened it would have been that Hailey spent 1 single night sleeping in her bed...

I think that HD received her TV the week before Christmas. As several here noted, parents often give presents like that at the start of Christmas vacation since the kids are hanging around all week while parents are working.
So Billie may have been correct about the sleeping in her room for a week thing.
Personally I think she probably was sleeping in her rooom, which gave SA the privacy he needed to make his moves on her at night. In the livingroom that would be more difficult.
And if Haley did complain to her Grama that she used to see SA lurking outside her bedroom door in the middle of the night then that would also explain why she preferred the 'openness' of the living room at night. JMO

Thank the Lord he is going to be fine (bodily, but perhaps not mentally). This happened in San Fernando Valley where I grew up. I went to Reseda High, but many of my friends went to Granada. I'm so sad that it's come to this. Bless LE and all that they do.

That happened at my kids school yesterday. They were on lockdown for over 6 hours. Received texts from my kids that there was a shooting at their school and they are on lockdown. I freaked out, rushed home and couldn't even get my kids out of school. The officer is ok, his vest protected him.

Some FBI are very good at their jobs, but not good at public speaking. Same with SD and PD's. Maybe the sheriff or the police chief don't like to be the spokesperson.

She was just trying to say something insulting about him. Maybe she doesn't use bad language as an example for her kids and uses words like "idiot" "simpleminded" and "*advertiser censored*" instead? We've seen her use all three but never "bad words".

Who knows if she literally thinks she is smarter, if she thinks someone is exhibiting stupid behavior, she calls them something reflective of that, though not really "appropriate" (a nod to Kampfer).

I agree. As inappropriate as many people find this use of the word "*advertiser censored*", if I had a dollar for every time I heard someone call someone "retarded" for acting goofy, I'd be a millionaire.

I think she used that term clinically, like she would as a nurse. I think she was warning the police that he had mental issues. There was nothing to indicate he was ' retarded' in any way. But the anger and death threats and escalation indicated that he was dealing with mental health issues. NOW she says she meant 'retarded' because she does not want to admit that she knew way back then that he is crazy.

O/T - update.

I'm sitting here - local news on - tears just streaming. They are showing the procession of LE escorting the female officer that was killed this morning from the hospital to the medical examiner's office. There are close to 75 motorcycles and many more walking behind the EMT truck. She had one child. The other officer that was killed had 3 children.

I do realize that this case is happening in a small town. I live in a county with over a million people in it. I was born and raised here. Always loved my city - but I have grown to hate it.

I plan on moving to a small town a few counties north here. I love the atmosphere and the people. It seems you are not a number there - you have a name and people know you.

Everyday - make sure you tell your family you love them, you may not have tomorrow.

IMO, It's possible he said "with her" because she is missing, as opposed to "to her" if there was confirmation that she had been harmed (i.e. a body being found or blood evidence).

On another note, I was reading up about body language and statement analysis (just a theory mind you - not a scientific fact):

When someone uses the word "normal" always flag it as sensitive. If a person says "I am normal" it is an indication that they have been held out to be "abnormal" as some point in life. When someone introduces a day as "normal", you can safely assume that it was anything but normal.

"like I said she was just sitting in the living room watching TV like a normal day... and she said, 'Shawn, I'm going....'

Really - what is a "normal" day. Do any of us have them? I sure don't

It seems to me that when he's saying "She was sitting in the LR and watching TV"--and the interview is taking place IN that same LR, he would say something like "She was sitting here watching TV" or "She was sitting in that chair watching TV"--KWIM?

FBI very rarely hold press conferences or issue press releases. They assist in A LOT of cases but always stay in the background.

The only time I remember seeing FBI hold a PC is when it has been a federal investigation and they have already arrested people.

With that, I still don't understand why someone (higher up the food chain) either in the Rangers or FBI or even local govt. hasn't said "c'mon we need a better guy here - he's hurting our image". He certainly hasn't "helped" with the liason between media, public and LE - that's for sure.
