Detectives say they don’t have any reason to believe Heidi Broussard and 3 week old Margot Carey wouldn’t be alive, still. They’re working with multiple law enforcement agencies in Texas, and DPS is reaching out to law enforcement in other states for help.

FBI involved in ‘continuous’ search for missing south Austin mom, infant; no person of interest
Austin Police are “continuously searching” for a missing south Austin mom and her infant daughter while leaving every possibility open on their whereabouts.

[…]

APD says currently there isn’t a person of interest in the case as they continue to interview family and friends.

“We don’t have a person of interest right now. To be completely honest, anything is possible at this time,” Detective Brad Herries with APD Violent Crimes said Tuesday.

The FBI’s Child Abduction Deployment Response team is assisting with the investigation, but APD is making it clear the FBI’s help isn’t an indication of what may or may not have happened to Broussard and her baby.

The Texas Rangers are also assisting in the investigation.

“At this time, we have no reason to believe Broussard nor the baby are harmed. We are still looking for them in a search and recovery manner,” Det. Herries said.

Police say electronic devices are being continually monitored for activity or tips.

FBI investigating disappearance of mother and newborn baby in Texas
The FBI has deployed its child abduction team to help authorities in Austin, Texas, investigate the case of a missing mother and her newborn baby.

Herries declined to answer questions Tuesday about whether there had been previous domestic abuse reports from Broussard's apartment. The detective noted that authorities currently do not have reason to believe that Margot or her mother have been harmed.

"It’s possible that Heidi and Margot have left on their own accord," Herries said. "It’s also possible that there may be something nefarious or foul play involved. To be honest, we don’t know the answer to that question."

Heidi's vehicle is a white Honda Fit.

Her mother says, "We know that Heidi and Margo were here at the time this thing took place. And what we want is we want our babies back home. And we want to see our grandbaby and our grandson and everything come back together."

“She wouldn’t leave, not without an ID. All of her cash was in her purs. Her purse is here, her car’s here, and she’s a talker. She loves to talk. She loves her friends, she loves her family, and she would tell somebody, and all of her friends don’t know. Nobody has heard from her,” Carey said, continuing, “It’s only her and the baby and the cell phone and the keys that are gone, and that’s it.”

Missing Austin mom and 3-week-old baby: Why wasn't there an AMBER Alert?
[…]

For an AMBER Alert to be issued in Texas, the case must meet the following list of criteria defined by the Texas Department of Public Safety:

  • Is this child 17 years of age or younger, whose whereabouts are unknown and whose disappearance law enforcement has determined to be unwilling which poses a credible threat to the child's safety and health? And if abducted by a parent or legal guardian, was the abduction in the course of an attempted murder or committed murder? or
  • Is this child 13 years of age or younger, who was taken – willingly or unwillingly – without permission from the care and custody of a parent or legal guardian by 1) someone unrelated and more than three years older or 2) another parent or legal guardian who attempted or committed murder at the time of the abduction?
  • Is this child in immediate danger of sexual assault, death or serious bodily injury?
  • Has a preliminary investigation verified the abduction and eliminated alternative explanations for the child's disappearance?
  • Is sufficient information available to release to the public to help locate the child, a suspect or the vehicle used in the abduction?

Missing Austin mother's parents beg for her and her baby's safe return
[…]

“We've just been hoping and praying that they find some clues to my daughter's disappearance,” David Broussard told KVUE Tuesday. “I've just been going out in the surrounding area and looking, hoping and just doing a little detective work.”

David and his wife, Tammy, traveled to Austin on Friday after learning of Heidi’s disappearance. They’ve been in town ever since, doing what they can to find their family members.

[...]

Tammy was in Austin on Nov. 26 when Margot was born. She stayed through Thanksgiving and, in an interview with KVUE, reminisced on their time together, playing cards as a family and spending quality time.

La. family of missing Austin mother, infant daughter plea for their return
[…]

“Heidi, baby, if you can hear me, if you’re anywhere out there around a TV or anything, if you can hear me, we’re praying for you baby,” said HT, the aunt of the missing woman.

[…]

Her aunts and grandmother live almost 500 miles away in Winnsboro, Louisiana, and as the search continues, they are pleading for the pair to be found safe and sound.

“I want her to come home, be safe live a life she needed to live. She’s a good mother, a good person,” said MT, the grandmother of Broussard.

Her aunt HT remembers the last time she spoke to her. She said they Facetimed regularly.

“Right before she had Margot, I talked to her, and she was laying on the bed with Silas he was eating cookies and they were playing with Zeus,” Hope said.

[…]

“There’s somebody somewhere that knows something or somebodies. Step forward. Don’t be scared. That’s a little baby three weeks old and whoever can ignore that...that’s not even imaginable,” Hope said.

As Hope fought back tears, she cried out for their safe return.

Parents of missing Austin mother say there's no way she and newborn left voluntarily
[…]

Tuesday, FBI agents were seen combing Heidi's apartment complex and interviewing neighbors.

[…]

The Broussards traveled from Lake Charles, Louisiana last week after Heidi's fiancé Shane called to tell them she and Margot were missing. They tell us they're getting regular updates from investigators and have faith that Heidi and Margot will return home.

[…]

However, the Broussard's are adamant Heidi would not leave her son -- they're positive something isn't right. "Heidi wouldn't do this, there's no way. She loves her son Silas and she would never do this -- and she would never take Margot down those stairs without her carrier and have her strapped in and her diaper bag strapped to her back," says Tammy.

Right now, Heidi's car remains in the parking lot. Police have locked down her apartment and haven't specified what items, if any, are missing.
