I consider all opinions as heart felt & legitimate. That being said, I would not give the police a description of someone I didn't see.

Who did that?

It has been made perfectly clear that the description was given of the driver of the red truck because he was the one they believed was the shooter.

They saw him, more than just the family saw him. They did not see the actual shooters and so described who they ALL believed to be the shooter.

Nobody made up a description of a guy. They just unknowingly described an innocent guy fleeing the scene, rather than the perp. Under the circumstances this is 110% understandable to me.

I'm sure this will all be in MSM shortly but just so nothing gets twisted, here it is straight from the source. As was said in the presser, the tip went to Shaun who took it to LE.

How the red truck became the suspect vehicle:

Shaun King

How the suspects were identified:

Shaun King
Thank you @MsFacetious for providing the links. Shaun King gets a bad rap, IMO; people are turned off by his style. He does a lot of good and gets things done.

God bless little Jazmine and her family.

Received countless tips, one in particular led to charge of Eric Black Jr. He became target of investigation based on tip to @shaunking that tip passed along to @SheriffEd_HCSO #KHOU11 #JazmineBarnes

Have not identified person in red truck. Still want person to come forward as a witness. Do not believe that person was involved in shooting and murder of #JazmineBarnes #KHOU11

“Everything went really fast when it started to unfold and perhaps that’s just the last thing they remember prior to the mayhem” - @SheriffEd_HCSO

“I think it was sincere information that came forward. There was no nefarious motive to give a different description” -@SheriffEd_HCSO

But, they saw him and thought he was the shooter. Of course, we now know he wasn't. moo

Just like the D.C. Sniper and the erroneous white van.

"I want to thank again Shaun King for his activism and help and raising awareness and the monies that were put forward to be able to generate those calls," Gonzalez said.

A tip from activist Shaun King led police to a suspect in the killing of Jazmine Barnes - CNN

I did make sure he was credited in MSM and by LE first. lol

I tried to find another link but the MSM links that have Shaun's detailed story are also full of commentary. I just wanted to give you guys the straight story and nothing more. I was confused at first too but I totally understand now.

Who would look up to get a description while gunshots are still going off? Clearly the red truck was a bystander who was fleeing the gunshots. Clearly the witnesses were taking cover and once the gunshots stopped and they looked up, the red truck was the only vehicle in their line of sight.

No the enormously detailed description didn't come from the family. It came from the 2 truck drivers who followed/saw the red truck after the shooting. Which helps to understand that description. They were both sitting up higher than the red truck and had a much better view. It all fits together now that we have this missing piece.

Maybe for promoting false narratives like the one of Sherrita Dixon-Cole who accused a trooper of raping her during a traffic stop? Shaun did not bother investigating and corroborating her story before publishing it as fact-based and including the officers name to his millions of followers. The article mentions the damage it did to the officer, his family and the force. But as someone who lives local to the story the damage was much more insiduous than that.

If there was an error, it was probably more than one person as I think lower ranking journalists (those more likely to make such an error) can not up load stories to the CNN national website with out the material being vetted by somebody more senior.

I also don't think CNN is doing just fine regarding ethics. They also broadcast unsupported speculation (and in the end, very incorrect speculation) that the motive was racial in a very inflammatory crime (another "error" by a lone CNN journalist?).

Contrast CNN "ethics" with the ethics of Web Sleuth staff who repeatedly forbid unsupported speculation about the perpetrators of inflammatory crimes acting on religious or racial motives. Web Sleuth staff repeatedly pulling "jihadis capturing white Christians girls" speculation on the Jayme Closs thread is just one of many examples of their superior ethics.
It seems like this is a topic better discussed on twitter sigh...

How does this relate to Jazmine’s story?

I'm leaning towards this family being shot at. They look up and see a pick-up with the driver whom they described. This was so sudden and unexpected that that is the only thing they saw or remembered. They were in shock.
Yes. They were being terrorized and were fleeing for their lives. It was a mistake, nothing more. I'm so glad they caught the monsters.

Well, he was wrong on that one, and I hope he gets backlash on that, but he did do good by Jazmine. Hopefully he gets sued by the police officer though.

Confused, bringing forward all the latest msm, sorry for regurgitation.

"At this time, investigators do not believe Jazmine's family was the intended target of the shooting, and that they were possibly shot as a result of mistaken identity."“

A family felt a black child’s killing was a hate crime. An arrest gave police a ‘new direction.’

“In a statement early Sunday, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced that 20-year-old Eric Black Jr. was charged with capital murder in Jazmine Barnes’s death. He was identified as a suspect based on a tip, police said, adding that Black later admitted he was involved in the shooting.

Investigators are chasing leads that could result in other suspects being charged, and police said they’re working to verify information on a second individual in the shooting.“

“Police said in the statement that they do not think Jazmine’s family was the intended target and that they may have been shot at “as a result of mistaken identity.”

“All evidence gathered so far in the Jazmine Barnes Homicide case supports investigators’ strong belief that she and her family were innocent victims,” the department tweeted Sunday.”

Agree. But this thread may soon become a vacation, Time Out thread if we all get too worked up about the discrepancies of the original reports.

Now most people feel that the big activists only came out because everyone thought the suspect was .....

But imo. Whichever activist that tries to slip themselves away from the case now. Needs to be called out. Jmo.

Because the ultimate justice for Jazmine should still be the ultimate justice for Jazmine. Jmo

“Many, including Merritt, speculated that the crime was racially motivated based on early witness accounts of the suspect — who was described by authorities as a “thin white man” in his 30s or 40s.

“The family is still really grateful that it seems law enforcement has identified the shooter,” Merritt told The Post on Sunday morning. “However, all the information up until yesterday has been that the shooter was an older white male in a red truck, that came from not only one of the victims, 15-year-old Alexis, but from an eyewitness nearby.”

He added, “We had at least four independent witnesses who believed the shooter in this situation was a white male . . . To learn that it wasn’t, isn’t disappointing, but it is surprising.”

Snip

“Gonzalez said during a Sunday afternoon news conference that the department has received information on a second individual involved in the shooting but he declined to further elaborate on that person’s role or potential charges.

Police in their statement did not immediately identify Black as the shooter. Merritt identified 24-year-old Larry Woodruffe as the second suspect in the case, though police have not named him.

Merritt said he believes Woodruffe is also black.“

No this is not true. The mother said the vehicle pulled in front of her and continued to shoot. The daughter said the vehicle (red truck) pulled up on the passenger side, then pulled up on the driver side and then shot into the car. That does not sound like the red truck was a bystander and no where have I read other truck drivers described anything. Do you have a link for that?

The detailed description did come from the family in the car. The oldest daughter said she saw his eyes. Said he looked sick.

"She said he was a white man with blue eyes, wearing a black hoodie and looked "sick" and skinny. Washington said the man did not have on glasses and did not have a beard, which was previously reported."

"Washington described more of the encounter with her daughter's killer. She said the red truck was on the passenger's side of her vehicle before the shooting. Washington said the driver of the pickup truck went behind her vehicle before switching lanes and getting on the driver's side."

"Jazmine's 15-year-old sister, xxxxx, was able to see the suspect's face."

(I’m so confused....)

“She said he was a white man with blue eyes, wearing a black hoodie and looked "sick" and skinny. Washington said the man did not have on glasses and did not have a beard, which was previously reported.

Washington and Jazmine's two older sisters then met with renowned sketch artist Lois Gibson at the Harris County Sheriff's Office Detective's Bureau.

"They were quiet but strong," said Gibson of the sisters, ages 13 and 15. Gibson says the sketch took about an hour to complete and she had to make only a few tweaks. When she showed them the sketch, Gibson said the girls were weeping.

"They were really good. He will look like this. This will be a good image," she said.“

“Jazmine's 15-year-old sister, Alxis Dilbert, was able to see the suspect's face.

"You know when you're driving and you look in someone's car and you make eye contact? It was like that," said Dilbert.“

I do think it's reasonable that the red truck may have been swerving to get the hell out of there at the same time as the shots. Which would have certainly also looked suspicious to the victims and witnesses. So if they heard shots at the same time of the red trucks erratic movements it would only add to them thinking he was the shooter. When in reality he may not have known where the shots were coming from either!

I just keep thinking of other ways that the red truck not being the shooter suddenly makes MORE sense to me. I couldn't figure out how anyone would see the vehicle while they were being shot at or why the vehicle would still be there after the shooting. You are correct though. I have no interest in further trying to explain why I think it's totally understandable that the description and story was the way it was.

So far everyone I am following has remained invested regardless of who the killer is. I don't care who the killer was I just want them caught and punished. That's my only priority. I'm glad that there was not a name associated with the initial incorrect suspect. However I don't hold it against anyone for believing he was the suspect. It is totally understandable in the situation they were all in.

I have been following this story from day 1. I have many of the first news reports saved. From the jump the story sounded a bit off so that is why I started saving everything. Red hoodie / black hoodie. Beard / no beard. Walmart / coffee / coffee juice grandma visiting. It will all come out soon enough. My thoughts are for Jazmine and the totally cruel and callous way a little girl died.
