This article is a very good one to read and refresh memories.
What Happened to the Fort Worth Trio? – Things We Find in the Dark – Medium

Fyi...
In a radio interview that I posted in thread 3, Rachel's brother claims that he tracked down the *elderly* some 40 years later and inverviewed her.

"The article also cites one lead the police department wasn’t able to track down. In 1975 the Vernon Daily Record reported that an unidentified elderly woman told three store clerks she’d witnessed a man forcing a girl inside a pickup truck on the day of the disappearance. She also said there were two other girls and a man already inside. She didn’t report this sighting to law enforcement, however, despite numerous appeals for her to come forward. They were never able to find her."

She must not have been too elderly in 74 to be tracked down 40 years later.;) Did she remember anything?

Sorry. I'm used to the legacy of the New South Wales police force of the seventies and eighties. "the best police force that money can buy". I figured the U.S. South might also have had bent cops.

Interesting .’like everyone remembers where they were when the World Trade Centers attacks happened or when the Chalkenger shuttle exploded .
Was that on purpose? It's ok its not to soon.

It's possible that the investigation was hampered by "Billy Bob"/"Peggy Sue" Deep South police corruption or incompetence. It was the seventies after all. Just a theory.'
Could somebody importants family member be involved? That crossed my mind but I think serial killers and cults and security guards should be forgotten and start again at the families and work your way out.

Just brainstorming...

A big seller for any news outlet is always (and always has been) sensationalism. The most tragic twist they can find for an already tragic story.

The big side story here (IMO) was Rachel's dying father trying to find his daughter.

Wonder why that was never a headline. Never an interview. Not even a comment from him. At least not that I have found.

It would be interesting to speak to one of the news reporters or writers from the newspaper at the time...

I happened across this from the Vernon Daily Record yesterday. It's got a one line comment from CA.

It was suggested in an earlier post that the note could have been found in an underwear drawer, or anywhere else for that matter. The note doesn’t indicate when it was written (doesn’t mention Christmas). It could have been written by Rachel, or not, at any time. It also doesn’t say who it was written to, doesn’t even say that she drove a car, doesn’t identify who the “we” are. It only lets someone know where to put the car. Could it have been written at a time when her parents were staying in the camper in Houston for CA’s treatments and the note was around somewhere and someone found it? Maybe even in the glove compartment in the Olds. JMO
I had that same thought- until I realized the note gave the location of the car....
