I'm sad to say that it is all to common these days. But the cops should have done more than just list her as a runaway don't you think? jmo
 
Hi guys, I just finished reading both treads (here and Topix) and what a strange case. First off way to go Jodiereen. You are an incredibly awesome sleuther for picking up on the likeness between this Doe and Vanessa so quickly.

I really wish the Mother & Brother wouldn't have stoped posting, but I can surely understand why they did. I wish that "Transplanted" would not have been so rude to them at first, it was so uncalled for. I doubt they come back now.

Hopefully, this Doe's identy will be discovered quicky.
 
Okay, am I the only one appalled at all the very personal info. that is being thrown around over on that topix forum, esp. by her bf, or ex-bf, nick? :mad: Does he not understand HOW MANY ppl. could be reading that? Does he really think she would want him splattering all her family horrors for anyone w/ access to a computer to read and speculate upon? IF any or all of it is even true. I understand that he is trying to calm the rumors down and also justify the reasons that Vanessa may have chosen to go away, but now EVERYONE knows and the rumors are going to get even worse. For those of you that post over there, do you think you could politely allude to the idea that he should respect the fact that she confided these things to him and maybe he should honor that trust and maybe even her memory by being respectfully close-lipped?

Have you ever been to the Project Jason site? It seems quite well-put-together, and organized and professional. Well, if you go to their "Unidentifieds" thread, about the 7th topic down is a listing of the unidentified websites for different states. (Maybe you already know of them since you have been preparing that site with every state's unknown site). But, just thought I would tell you that was there as a further resource.;)

Wow, I didn't see all of the accusations when I was on there yesterday morning. All I can say is -Ouch- sounds very similar to Deanna's story. Teon, and everyone, ANY way I can help out please let me know. Deanna's case is cold,cold,cold and I would hate to see that happen to Vanessa too.
 
I was able to find some court records, some make me think the accusations are true. not sure if everyone wants me to post a direct link here so just pm me and I will get you a link.

Sorry, when I posted this earlier I had not seen that "Team Roxanne" had posted the case numbers on the topix board.
I was wondering if maybe someone should make her a myspace page. Then she could be posted under the alumni, and it might be easier to track down some of her friends. What do you guys think?

Thank you, MissieMt, for being respectful to her privacy. I realize, though, that they are public records, so if someone wanted to find them on their own, they could. But it's good of you to not leave it open to possible voyeurism.

Sloane, I respectfully disagree. Generally I would agree that disclosing personal information on a message board is not a good idea but, all the closed lipped treatment of this case has not helped find her. I believe there are some good tips for the cops to follow up on. I think the board has encouraged that and because of these tips, she may be found.
 
Wow, I probably shouldn't comment on this since it hits really close to home. Sorry Sloane, but I can't help but wonder what would have been if people had talked about the things that were going on behind closed doors before my sister went missing.
I just don't understand who we would be protecting by keeping this information quiet.
 
Yes, rich, I do also agree with what you've said. I too think that LE should have had the info. that nick was sharing, bec. if it is true, obviously it shows reason for her to have left, or perhaps motive for someone else to "help" her leave, as sinister as that sounds. But the WAY in which he was disclosing it was just so candid and unnecessarily graphic for the millions of ppl. who could read it to be privy to.
Should he have been that open w/ LE? In my opinion, absolutely! But not on some random chat board for all to read and treat as gossip. I just think that is being disrespectful to Vanessa. He could have said something as simple as, "emotional and sexual abuse stemming from both households." PPl. get that. The details are really not their business, unless they are part of the case.
Sex crimes records are usually restricted (meaning police reports), so LE could have obtained this info. from nick without it being open for everyone to see. But, I see your point in that court records ARE public. You'll have to fill me in on that more, bec. I'm not up on the laws re: those. Are they public even when the defendant was a juvenile?
