Allegations of threats emerged at a hearing Friday regarding the siblings of King Jay Davila, a San Antonio baby whose body was found in a backpack and buried in a field in January.

Children’s Court Associate Judge Richard Garcia conducted a hearing to receive updates on how the children of Jasmine Gonzales are doing while in temporary placement with Gonzales’ mother and step-grandfather.
Gonzales is King’s mother. State Child Protective Services removed her other children from her care for the time being.

During the proceedings Friday, the court heard allegations that Gonzales was making harassing phone calls to her parents about Jasmine McGill, a community activist who has been vetted by CPS and has been assisting the family through her nonprofit, King’s Angels.

Elizabeth Sampayo said she believes Davila, her cousin, called his mother when he realized King Jay was dead. She was adamant that Beatrice Sampayo put the rest of the events into motion.

“You have no idea what you’re dealing with here,” Elizabeth Sampayo said of her aunt.

She said Torres, 45, her cousin, was goaded by their aunt into helping Davila. Torres was captured on video in January, according to an arrest affidavit, getting into Davila’s car at the gas station and driving it away, making it appear to was stolen with King Jay in it.

Like Beatrice Sampayo, Torres and Davila were indicted in April on charges of tampering with evidence. Davila faces additional charges, including injury to a child causing severe bodily injury, a first-degree felony. He remains in jail.

Elizabeth Sampayo appeared to question her aunt’s frailty.

“Beatrice has been sick since before I was born,” she said. “I’m 38 years old. She’s been dying all my life.”

When asked if reports that Beatrice Sampayo is battling terminal cancer are true,” she replied, “maybe.”

She said King Jay’s death has split the family.

Beatrice Sampayo and Torres had court hearings scheduled before Judge Kevin O’Connell on Monday, but both cases were reset.

San Antonio woman claims her elderly aunt was the ‘mastermind’ in hiding King Jay’s death

Wow... the more I read about Jasmine and Beatrice, I'd say that Christopher found a woman much like his momma.

Bad blood there and hope investigators are keeping their eyes on Jasmine -- she'll slip up.

Baby King Jay deserves justice.

San Antonio man accused in King Jay case refuses court appearance

Christopher Davila, 34, who is accused in the death of King Jay Davila, refused to appear in court Tuesday.
[.....]
Courthouse observers said it is unusual for a defendant to refuse to appear, and that a judge can sign an order to force an appearance if there is a trial pending. However, since this is a first court setting since Davila’s bail reduction hearing in April, he was not forced to appear in court.

In April, the judge declined the motion to lower Davila’s bail, which is set at $1.25 million.
Drag this sorry coward into court and handcuff him to the chair. He should be MADE to appear IMO. Pffft

King's Angels' fight for justice far from over after murder charge not added to list in Baby King Jay case

SAN ANTONIO — Three people have been indicted on charges for their alleged roles in the death of Baby king Jay Davila.
[.....]
This Thursday, the district attorney's office confirmed with KENS 5 the trio indicted on charges for their alleged role in the baby's death. Torres and Sampayo are charged with tampering with evidence and could face two to 10 years in prison

Davila, meanwhile, was indicted on five charges, including injury to a child causing serious bodily injury. If convicted of that charge, he could face anywhere from five to 99 years in prison. Davila was also charged with tampering with evidence by concealing a corpse.

Why isn't there a murder charge in the Baby King case?

edited to add from article:

A trial for Chris Davila is expected to begin next week. He faces five to 99 years or life in prison for the injury to a child charge.

I can't seem to access the court site, but according to my notes I have "Set trial date hearing" on 8/13, not his trial starting.

If anyone can access this:

I think DA wants Christopher held accountable, and needs his cohorts to secure the "injury to a child" charge.

I don't believe there will be a trial for Angie or Beatrice, and still working on plea arrangement in exchange for their testimony against Christopher.

Once he knows the family going against him, he will also change his plea.

There's an element of little Maleah to this case.
