The suspect in the disappearance of Peggy Merimon is now being called upon to take a lie detector test.

"I'm offering to foot the expenses of whatever it takes to get to the bottom of the truth and find out where Peggy Merimon is," said Gary Pringle, a bounty hunter heading up the search for Peggy Merimon.
Pringle issued that challenge Tuesday morning at the Lubbock County Courthouse. After searching for more than a year, he says it's time to bring Peggy home. Pringle says he'll pay for a polygraph, or anything else, that is needed to find Peggy.

I have my doubts that this creep is going to rush in to take a polygraph. I wish he would though. What in the world did he do with Peggy? I feel so bad for her poor family not knowing anything except that this guy is probably the killer and they can't do anything about it. I don't know what I would do in their shoes. I don't know if I could be trusted not to take matters into my own hands. It's one thing not to know who murdered your loved one but to know and have your hands tied would be something else. I guess Peggy's husband and kids have more control then I would probably have. God bless them all.

Bump, any new info?
We moved away from the area last year and this case has stayed on my mind.

I have not seen anything at all lately in the newspaper or on the news.

It was on so much there for a while Sassy. I thought about all of the cases from Lubbock last night and decided I would be a googling fool today to see if there was any new info. Sad to see we are still waiting and hoping.

Good for the families. Maybe they can learn something through the depos. That is possibly their goal. He will have to answer any questions put to him through the families attorney. His attorney can protest but the creep will still have to answer. Depos aren't fun and can last for days! People can also sit there and lie and look you right in the eyes! I hope the Wrongful Death suit really puts this creep on edge and he makes a few mistakes. I hope the families got a tough attorney.

I wonder if LE has anything? Did they ever go over his vehicles for evidence? He would have had to transport the bodies in something. Seems like they would have found a hair or something in the trunk. How good at foresics is that LE?

Actually, probably he won't have to answer. He could always invoke his fifth amendment rights against self-incrimination.

I wonder if he will do that? It sure will make him look guilty if he does. If he does that at the trial the jury might just find him guilty!

"12/09/08 -- The no-show defendant in a pending wrongful death civil lawsuit faces criminal retribution.

Mickey Patterson has not complied with an order to give a deposition in the civil suit against him; filed by the families of two women who went missing - reportedly while in his company.

Local attorney Will Boyles explains an order of attachment, issued for Patterson Friday, authorizes lawmen to arrest him.

Patterson is also ordered to appear before the court December 19th to explain why he should not be held in contempt. "

I haven't read all the links lately but I believe that Mickey P. is in the Seattle, Washington area? Hope he hasn't fled, disappeared, and changed his name.

I'm not sure txsvicki, I didn't see where he lives now, in the articles

Just found this dated 2/12/09...

New information has been released relating to the main suspect in the Peggy Merimon/Kay Harrelson kidnapping and murder case. Court documents show the sisters of Mickey Patterson gave oral depositions to attorneys concerning the case. The depositions state that Mickey Patterson was given an independent polygraph by his attorney in which he passed, but that polygraph has never been turned over to police. Documents also state that Patterson was involved in the abduction of a woman during the 1980s, but was never charged.___(KLBK/Joe Griffin copy)
_______

Apparently Patterson's sisters have given interesting information that this fella was involved in a previous disappearance in another woman in the 80's but was never charged. It's not clear what ever become of that case.
VERY INTERESTING!!!!

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The man accused of murdering two Lubbock State School employees will have his day in court.

Three and a half years ago Kay Harrelson and Peggy Merimon disappeared from work. A search party discovered Harrelson's body 13 days later in a field near Shallowater, and Merimon is still missing. The court set the trial for June 1st. Judge Jim Bob Darnell will hear the case in the 140th district court.

Deputies escorted Mickey Patterson back to Lubbock from Bend, Oregon after a Lubbock grand jury indicted him on two counts of murder. There are still a lot of questions surrounding what new evidence led to Patterson's arrest and what attorneys will present during trial.

Sources say Patterson took a polygraph test before any criminal charges were filed, but the results of his test cannot be confirmed. Results of a polygraph cannot be used as evidence in a criminal trial. Whether or not the test is mentioned during testimony is still in question.

NewsChannel 11 contacted the families and because a trial date has been set they were asked not to comment. Patterson's attorney filed a motion with the court asking for a speedy trial to take place before the end of March, but the court set the date for June 1st. This will be a jury trial. As of right now this trial will be in Lubbock County, there has not been a motion filed to have this case moved out of town.
